Believe it or not, DeMuth was the *fourth* sewer contractor to take a crack at solving our storm sewer backups this year. And they are the contractor that finally solved it. Now I don't really blame the other contractors and haven't posted negative reviews for them for not solving our issue. Nobody knew exactly what the problem was, although some undetermined issue could be seen on sewer cameras, until my hometown's sewer department excavated the street and cut open our discharge pipe there and found it half-clogged with set cement. This combined with mud getting into the line from a broken downspout connector, repaired by the third contractor, was causing gutter downspout and sump pump discharge water to back up into our yard (not our home). We did not put cement down the storm sewer and neither did anyone else known to us. The best guess of everyone was that it was there from the time the home was built. (Remember that cement would not get into a storm sewer line by being poured down a sink or bathtub drain or toilet; it would have to be poured down a downspout or into a sump pit to get into a storm sewer line.) My hometown sewer department recommended DeMuth Inc. as the one who had the specialized equipment, a chain cutter, and the skill to solve this issue. And DeMuth did a great job for us. They excavated four feet down and cut the line. They broke the cement out of the line without cracking the clay pipe. They vacuumed and jet-washed the debris out of the line. They installed a new replacement PVC tee with a ground-level cleanout in our clay storm sewer line with a cleanout. They came on the day they promised and got to it within a few days of the estimate. The only issue I had was that they didn't get the cleanout flush with ground level as we had discussed, but when I asked them to fix it, they came back quickly and took care of it without any grumbling about it, which is all you can ask. John, son Jason, and Steve came across as great guys I felt very comfortable working with. Just one *day* after DeMuth finished, we had a very strong downpour that would have flooded the yard if the repairs had not been made. I am completely satisfied and would use them again and strongly recommend them to a friend or family member.
Description of Work: Cleared out a storm sewer line clogged with cement, and installed a PVC tee and cleanout in the middle of the storm sewer line.

The company didn't give me an invoice initially, then the owner came to my house with a bill for $1700, and was asking how I wanted to pay. The invoice had the wrong address and the name was "resident", he didn't even know my name. The issue was when I took the invoice to my neighbor next door, who typically has been very willing to split big projects like this with me, and they called DeMuth and the man told them it should not have been split, because the parts that were worked on were all on my property. DeMuth had no business telling them where our property lines are, and they took a normal situation, and really blew it out of proportion. I have never had issues with this neighbor.
Description of Work: The company came out and cleaned out a catch basin for us, they cleaned out the drains and did a fine job.
