Excellent! We found Deckwerks through Angie's List and were so happy with them. They were the best company we spoke too, and did super quality work. Very impressive!

We received three bids for the deck, Deckwerks clearly stood out from the rest. Ted Benson came out to the house and spent time reviewing exactly what I wanted, measuring the space, and drawing up plans. His bid was competitive and reasonably priced. We scheduled an installation date a few weeks out. He promptly obtained a permit from the village. Work was started on a Monday and finished four days later. The carpenters were professional and very detail focused. Ted came out a few times during the construction and afterwards to inspect the job. There were a couple of follow ups that needed resolution after construction - they were taken care of quickly and without any hassle. I would highly recommend Deckwerks to anyone interested in doing any type of deck/porch or other related work.

Ted came to our house multiple times to design and modify the plan [as we changes our minds]. He is an excellent designer and understands his materials as well as the aesthetics. The work commenced and finished on time. The carpenters were excellent crafts people and were very professional.

Deckwerks owner, Ted Benson, met with us several times to discuss our thoughts for a new deck. Ted was easy to work with and very skilled in designing a deck that fit our lifestyle. Specifically, we were interested in a deck that felt like an extension of our home as well as one that led to our backyard, with a large staircase to the lawn. Ted made it work! Ted's foreman, Steve, is a friendly, hard working man that often stayed into the late evening hours. He formulated a custom colored deck stain that is very nice. Ted & Steve worked well with other contractors involved with our backyard landscaping & electrical work. Overall, we are very pleased with our new deck and highly recommend Deckwerks to others that are looking for top quality work and professional employees.

Ted came out promptly to give an estimate. He spent 1 hr exploring options and examining the current deck. He left samples of the material (TREX) for us to make decisions about color texture etc. My only concern about this company was the price. It was twice as much as an individual contractor $10,500.00 vs $5,500 using the same materials. Thus the labor must have been marked up. As an aside about Trex. I was certain I wanted to use this project for environmental and even aesthetic reasons. I really like the way it looked. UNTIL we got the actual product which was unevenly colored. When we returned the first delivery and had a second batch sent out and it also had significant color variations, even within the same board. The company assured us it would weather to the same color. We found a web site about troubles with Trex. Now, maybe the newer products are better. I am actually very disappointed that we had to build our deck in wood. But it seemed to risky too spend twice as much on a product that was unpredictable.

We were very satisfied with the work that was done. Ted Benson spent a generous amount of time with my wife and me in designing a railing that complemented adjacent fence construction. The original quote, at my direction, included replacing some steps that had decayed. It was more than I expected. When I asked about options that could meaningfully reduce the price, we agreed that I would replace the steps and his company would build the railing, resulting in an acceptable overall price. Ted was quite helpful is specifying materials, measurements and a few tools that I needed to buy to replace the steps, and where problems might arise. With the steps completed by me, his crew came in and completed the railing.

Deckwerks did a great job start to finish. They obtained the permit quickly. They started on time and the crew was very considerate. The foreman was careful to remember all the details and they anticipated all of our needs associated with the deck. The quality of the work was excellent. I highly recommend Deckwerks.

The owner showed up on time to draw up a plan/design , make measurements and estimate. The owner was very knowledgeable and drew up a good design. We discussed some details and needs. He emailed me a quote for the job as promised. Unfortunately the quote was way to high considering the small size of my deck. I know the details we discussed would add costs, but I feel the quote was extremely too high. I am sure that if you do hire this company that you would get a quality deck and construction. They seem to be very experienced.

Work was performed as promised, very professional and efficient. None of the wood was damaged nor needed additional stain.

Never heard back from the representative after the meeting to discuss options and prices. The Rep said it would be pricey and was to call back with other options they could do. I left 3 messages for the person to call back and discuss and as of 3 weeks have not heard back from anyone. First meeting the person was wonderful, but the follow up has been horrible.

I would re-hire Ted and his carpenters Steve and Steve in a heartbeat. More than professional. We went through five estimates. While he wasn't the lowest, he was near and negotiated materials, contract and timing. You can get cheaper. I'm not sure you can find better.

TED WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. HIS CREW WAS PUNCTUAL, VERY PROFESSIONAL, CLEAN AND DID GREAT WORK. TED CAME OUT AND CREATED A SCHEMATIC DRAWING BASED ON OUR COMMENTS AND HIS SUGGESTIONS. HAVING THE VISUAL REPRESENTATION MADE US MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THE DECISION. THE DECK WAS FINISHED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND WE'VE BEEN USING IT EVER SINCE THEY FINISHED. WE'RE DELIGHTED WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT AND WOULD RECOMMEND DECKWERKS TO ANYONE DOING A SMALL OR LARGE DECK PROJECT.

TED WORKED VERY CLOSELY WITH US ON THE DESIGN OF THE DECK. HIS DRAWINGS WERE EXCELLENT; THEY REALLY HELPED US GET A SENSE FOR WHAT THE DECK WOULD LOOK LIKE. THE QUALITY OF THE WORK IS IMPECCABLE; HE REALLY KNOWS HOW TO BUILD DECKS.
