Doesn’t perform required work Thought issue A/C

A few days ago my furnace went out. I could see that the igniter was cracked and it looked like a 5-minute job to replace, and I found the part on the internet for $38. But it was freezing in the house and I couldn’t wait a day so I called the distributor in Libertyville, but he doesn’t sell to the public. I called a local HVAC company, Ravinia Plumbing and Heating and spoke to their service manager, who refused to sell me the part. The only way he would help me out was to come out and replace the part for $304 plus, I think, $90 to come out. Thanks a lot. Then I called Carefree Comfort and spoke to Domenick who said sure, he’d sell me the part. He sold it to me for $35 - less than the internet price!!! Now THAT’s what I call a good neighbor! Now I know who I can trust to come out and give me a fair price when I have a problem I can’t solve myself.

They were wonderful! They showed up as scheduled, completed the work in a clean and quick manner, and did a fantastic job. It was one of the first time we've had work contracted where the vendor did not attempt to charge more than estimated. It was a pleasure from start to finish.

Thank goodness for Carefree Comfort! After calling 4 other companies Carefree Comfort was the only company (in the middle of this heat wave) that actually connected us to a technician not just someone who sets up appointments. I called the emergency number on a Saturday night on a Holiday weekend and asked if he could come to fix the air conditioner tonight. When I spoke with Emmanuel he was professional and polite. He gave me the emergency call price and told me because it is a holiday weekend depending on what kind of air conditioner we had he may not have the parts available until Tuesday. But then he said he would be happy to walk me through a few things that we could check in case it was something simple. Thank you Emmanuel! It turned out to be a simple switch that had been turned off without our knowledge by a visitor. I just flipped the switch back on and bingo, cool air conditioning! Carefree Comfort and Emmanuel, you have our vote of confidence. Thank you!

I have used them a couple of times for stuff around the house. I would give them A's across the board. We have an appointment, I would definitely use them in the future.

The rep from the company showed up on time; was courteous; came with the correct product; and replaced the sump pump in about 15 minutes. Everything was perfect.

The part on the old furnace was very expensive and furnace was out of warantee. I decided on a new furnace and they came in one day to installed. they were on time, professsional, clean and communicated the details of the installation. The price quoted was the price billed. I was very pleased.

They put in a new furnace a few years back and I have had no trouble since. They were excellent as I was having trouble with an old furnace and they were able to put a new one in and get it going right away for me. The company has done a lot of work for me and always makes sure that it is problem free.

Initial call related to some 'misfires' of the furnace during the start-up cycle. The technician was very prompt and professional. He spent a good amount of time assessing the situation. He made some adjustments and that seemed to 'do the trick'. No problems since that initial visit.

Wow! Carefree Comfort's installation of a new wall heater in our family room was courteous, professional and efficient from start to finish. The heater was a different size than the old one and didn't fit the wall opening, but the team filled in the opening where necessary and it looks great. Plus it's a much better heater! We will definitely be calling Carefree Comfort for our future HVAC needs and would recommend the company to others. Thanks so much!

After getting three estimates to replace our almost 60 year old boiler, Carefree was the clear winner. This is the second home for which we've used them for replacing the heating system. The company, owned by three brothers, is very responsive, competitive and offers a quality product. The installation team, headed by Carlos, a 10 year employee, arrived promptly, took great care in removing the old equipment and bringing in the new. They explained the process and the final clean up was excellent. We recommend them highly!

I was most impressed with the prompt response from the office staff and the estimator/service man. I was able to schedule the visit right away and I didn't feel I had to wait a long time for them to fit me into their schedule (which I did after talking to a couple other companies). The service men were very nice, hard working, and thorough. They wore shoe covers and carefully cleaned up after themselves. They really did a great job and I highly recommend them.

When I called to make an appointment they did everything they could to get out that afternoon. They called when a repairman was available but unfortunately I was not able to take the call so he was rerouted to another call. When I returned their call they were friendly and called me back to let me know that they wouldn't be able to get out to our house that day but they would come first thing in the morning. The repairman arrived at 7:45 a.m. He was polite, friendly, and professional. He checked the control box and suggested I put new batteries in it. Then he went down to the basement to check the furnace. He showed me what he was looking at and we discovered that I put the filter in backwards (oops!). He made some markings on the furnace so I wouldn't do that again. Then he poured water down the drain to make sure it wasn't clogged. He was polite but effiicient and focused. Then he went outside to look at the A/C unit. He showed me the dual capacitor that was broken. It was so rusted he couldn't read the label so he called in to make sure he could replace it with the right size. He put it in and then wrote up the bill. When he came inside, he asked me if I had a coupon from Angie's list (I did) and then he explained the bill to me and each charge: service call: $90, dual capacitor installed: $105, checking freon, drain, filter, etc. ($22). WIth the discount the final cost was $195.47.

Carefree Comfort set the appointment with very little notice, and the technician arrived exactly when promised. I had been quote 2-4 hours for the job (I had to get back to work, so I was curious), and he had completed in 1.75 hours. Humidifier has worked perfectly thus far. Very professional organization and I would encourage all to work with them.

It went very well. The came out on a timely basis. It was an issue while the weather was could so they made it a priority to come out.

Service techs were great. Equipment and install we're as promised.

At the beginning of August 2011, three men came to install a new furnace and a/c. They covered all the floors and cleaned up after they were finished. They tested both the furnace and a/c. Everything went smoothly. They took the 2 window units after they made sure everything worked. Very pleased.

They figured out the problem. The price was really high. I would not use them in the future.

This place is great. On one of the hottest days of the year, the AC went out. We got three estimates, and Carefree was the least expensive by $1000. Because we have four kids and were having a party, we asked if they could come right away. They moved appointments around and came the next day. They were there first thing in the morning and finished in a few hours. They were reasonable priced, not pushy, accommodating, neat, and punctual. I would highly recommend them.
