On time, work completed as quoted

He made a proposal for work. We agreed to that proposal and put down a deposit. Since then he has not returned our phone calls, texts or emails.

The project started out great. There were several workers there the first few days and did a lot of work in a short amount of time. However, as the project went on, the work was getting done at slower speeds, the general contractor became harder to reach, and eventually he stopped returning phone calls. He provided us a one-year warranty on the decks, but within 2 days of final payment, one railing fell off, and we discovered several floor boards were missing screws, and some boards were never cut off evenly. There were also gates that wouldn't close properly, areas that weren't square, and other details were not done in a quality manner. And, midway through the project, it was discovered that one of the decsk was not built to the same specifications as the original. He did give a $500 credit for this, but there was not an explanation of why this happened. And extra deck materials were not returned to the store for a credit. The contractor came back and partially repaired 2 of the 3 decks, but has not come back and doesn't return phone calls or emails at all.
