We've continued to have problems with the chimney leaking since the initial repairs. Initially we had the claims adjustor from State Farm come back out and look at the roof. He was completely appalled by the poor quality and workmanship of the work performed by McMahon Services. Instead of replacing the Hardie boards that State Farm paid for, McMahon Services used the original materials to address the damages . They used caulk to cover gaps in excess of 1-2 inches, resulting in an eye sore as you will notice from the photos below. After I brought these photos to John McMahon's attention he agreed to addressing this issue. While the company supposedly replaced the boards, which is what they were initially paid to do, we've continued to experience issues with the chimney leaking. I've recently had 3 different contractors assess the chimney. All concurred that due to poor workmanship the chimney is not stable and that it possess a significant risk of falling down. They also noted that the chimney cap was never replaced which is the primary source of the leak. I brought this to John McMahon's attention 4 weeks ago. Initially he sent out a guy who claimed he addressed the problem in 5-10 minutes. However, when I confronted him about the structure not being stable he agreed that this was the case and that he would be following up with John. I've been trying to get a hold of John for the past 4 weeks. According to his secretary he is in meetings and all of my messages (work and cell number) are not being returned. While John didn't personally perform the work, he did source the work to his contractors. I don't know where John found these workers at but clearly there is a significant gap in their knoweledge and experience. John has really put us in a difficult situation. We have a chimney on our home that is not structurally sound and he appears to be doing everything possible to avoid us. We're going to be forced to hire a company to clean up the mess that McMahon Services created despite the fact that John was well compensated by State Farm. In addition to pursuing legal actions, we are filling complaints with the BBB, Contractor Connections and State Farm. Meanwhile, I would strongly encourage you to avoid McMahon Services at all costs. Specifically if you're looking for quality workmanship and for a company that stands behind their work.

They do it all. They were wonderful. I had water in my basement. It was a real heavy loss. It is the one thing that was keeping my from another installation. I was so inundated with that kind of stuff going on. The cleaning part, I ended up doing a lot by myself. They did end up moving a lot of things out that was bad that should have been done by another company who was paid. They removed the laminate floor in the bedroom that should have been removed by the other company that was paid for. There was a small amount of, it was a kitchenette they spaced the cabinets and the vanity and put the tops back on. There was a lot of drywall work to do because there was damage. So they did a lot of that. They put the laminate floor in the bedroom and put carpeting. There was a little end where there is carpeting like a little living room like the kitchenette. They replaced some doors because doors were ruined. They made like a closet area for me. They put down all of the trim down that was involved on the doors and floor. It was from water damage. There was flooding. There were heavy rains and I have a septic and it backed up. There was like a clog in the pipe. They made a hole there and put a closet door on there. So for now on, if there is ever a clog again, someone can just open the door instead of taking off drywall. I was very impressed. I was very sick through all of this because I think there was mold growing and things like that. The poor guy the first time he came here, I blew him off. I did not mean to. I was so sick and was able to get into the doctor and I did not even look at the calendar. I just ran. The poor guy came out here and nobody was here. He did come back again. I found them very nice to work with. He did a lot of fronting with the insurance company. I really did not have to fight with them. I would recommend them because when it comes to insurance, you don't know what they are talking about. I was thankful for that. I had five people come out here. Nobody gave me bids except for two. He was higher than the other person but he did more. I feel he was worthwhile working with the insurance company. The other guy, I liked him alot but he was more of a small time contractor. I don't think he would have been as helpful with the insurance. I am satisfied with the price.

We recently discovered mold damage in our bedroom and closet, most likely caused by an ice dam on our roof this winter. The damaged was somewhat extensive and required removal of drywall and carpet in a portion of the room. Luckily, our homeowners' insurance covered the cost of the mold remediation and reconstruction. McMahon Services did the reconstruction portion of the job. Mike McMahon supervised the job and was very punctual and communicative. He follows up promptly via email, text or phone call, which is invaluable considering that we are two working parents with young children and do not have time to mess around, and was on track with communicating at different phases of the job to be sure that the work was getting completed to our satisfaction. I don't remember the name of the guy who replaced the insulation, drywall, replaced baseboards and repainted, but he was excellent and professional and did the work in a timely manner. That part of the job took two days, and I did not feel uncomfortable going to work and leaving him alone in our home to finish the work on the second day. Communication with the carpet guy was a bit less prompt (but I admit that I have high expectations in that respect). With some follow up on my part, we got that portion of the job done quickly, and the new carpet looks fantastic. I am very happy with the work that this company did, and I would definitely use them again if we ever have another need for restoration work like this done. I did not compare pricing, as this was an insurance job, so I'm not sure how their costs compare to other companies that do this type of work, but I can vouch that it is quality work done by very professional people.

The major house fire we had in Libertyville turned our family?s life initially ?upside down? as the cliché goes. Beginning with our first contact with your staff until the very end of the rebuilding project your company has been very professional in addressing our needs. In fact, assisting us mitigating our claim was utmost helpful. All of your staff has been very cordial and patient with us in every facet of this challenging time. From securing our premises, the endless city permits, the essentially complete reconstruction of the interior and the nearly complete new roof, all was seamlessly accomplished within very reasonable time even though the weather certainly was not too cooperative with the record cold and snow. The major upgrades with quality workmanship gave us a better than new house. We are enjoying it! Although I?ll surely miss some people names, I would like to commend the following: The carpentry crew especially Cliff and John did a superb, quick job. Interior/exterior paint job by Andre was meticulous, very clean and it was obvious he took pride in his workmanship. Jerry and Tom always kept me in the loop with e-mails and phone calls when necessary in a timely manner. Questions and concerns were addressed promptly. Working closely with our interior decorator (Megan) Jerry and Tom, patiently & carefully coordinated the changes (and re-changes) made. Recommendations by Jerry, Tom & crew were invaluable and cost savings. That was greatly appreciated. Kevin?s electrical work was top quality. Already, the LED recess lighting install resulted in significant savings on electric bill. The cleanup crew (led by Peter) took care of contents and personal items with meticulous cautious care to avoid any further damage to delicate items. The office staff, always pleasant, assisted greatly with coordinating bank payments and other paperwork. In summary, all of you are the ?BEST.? Finally,I would not hesitate to recommend your services to friends and relatives.

McMahon did great work. They were available to start quickly after a burst pipe caused damage to our hall bathroom and the kitchen ceiling below. We decided to renovate the bathroom at the same time and the quality of the work was very good. Tile and construction work was excellent and all the workers were very thorough and committed to the job. They were very focused on small but key details. Among the highlights were responsiveness and cooperation; Jerry was easily reachable to deal with all of the little things that inevitably come up with situations like this and he was easy to work with on what we wanted. The prices were fair as well. We would definitely use them again.

The provider confirmed by phone that they would be there on Friday as scheduled, but they did not show up and did not call to explain why. A neighbor referred us.

McMahon Services was referred to us by our insurance company who paid for the relaying of the carpet and padding. Based on my positive interactions with Jerry McMahon, Jr. during the estimate visit, we decided to hire them to install a new area of tiling in front of our washer and dryer. Our experience couldn't have been better. The individuals who worked in our home were prompt, courteous, and professional. The job was well done and very fairly priced. We would definitely use this company again in the future.

In spite of several phone calls after the inspection of the roof, none where returned and no estimate was provided.

They did great work. Mike McMahon came the day after I called to look at my problem areas and gave me a written estimate within 2 days. They started work when they promised, despite heavy rains and an increase in their business due to people calling them because of flooded basements. They even put baffles around the air vents in the attic roof overhang so that attic insulation wouldn't block air flow and also added a new air vent to the overhang on the west side of the building to increase air circulation. Their work is guaranteed for 2 years and is transferable to new owners when I do sell. I had a mold inspector come in after they were done and all lab results for the remediated areas tested negative for mold.

They came and gave me a estimate that was good, but they did not come out for three months and I decided not to use the service.

No story. Didn't show up for appointments TWICE. Enough said. No cost for project not even started.

TOTALLY PROFESSIONAL! THEY ANSWERED CALLS, SHOWED UP WHEN SCHEDULED AND DID A GREAT JOB! NOT ONLY ON TIME - BUT EARLY! GREAT GUYS! NICE WORK!

I WAS SO IMPRESSED BY THE CREW, AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK, THAT I CALLED THEIR OFFICE AFTER THEY LEFT TO COMPLIMENT THEM.

ONE WINDOW WAS BROKEN BY CREW. SEVERAL WINDOWS STILL HAD TAPE AND OTHER DIRT ON THEN WHEN FINISHES. DIRTY WATER WAS SPLASHED ON SEVERAL WALLS AND WINDOW SILLS AND NOT CLEANED UP.

WE GOT THE COMPANY'S NAME FROM THE ANGIE'S LIST. FOLLOWING WAS WHAT WE EXPERIENCED: 1) THEY DID NOT SHOW UP FOR THE ESTIMATION AT THE FIRST APPOINTMENT. 2) THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ESTIMATED WORK COST BY THE PROMISED DATE. 3) THEY IGNORED OUR REPEATED REQUESTS FOR THE ESTIMATE AFTER THE PROMISED DATE 4) AFTER OUR ATTEMPT FOR 2 WEEKS, THEY EVENTUALLY LEFT A MESSAGE DECLINING TO PROVIDE ANY ESTIMATE WITHOUT APPARENT REASON.

THEY DIDN'T RETURN CALLS. THE WORK WAS DONE INCOMPLETE AND SHODDY. THEY HAD NO INTEREST IN COMPLETING THE JOB. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO MORE, BUT NEVER GAVE AN ESTIMATE FOR MORE WORK OR FOLLOWED UP.

THEIR COST WAS MORE REASONABLE THAN OTHER COMPANIES. WE ALREADY HAD THE REPLACEMENT CEILING TILES THEY HAD TO CUT TO SIZE. WHEN PAINTING,THEY WERE NOT ONLY CAREFUL AROUND THE LANDSCAPING BUT WITH THEIR PAINT TOO.

THEY SHOWED UP ON TIME AND WERE VERY POLITE AND FRIENDLY. THEY COMPLETED THE JOB VERY QUICKLY WITH HIGH QUALITY AND THEY CLEANED UP VERY WELL AND DISPOSED OF USED MATERIALS. BEST OF ALL, THE PRICE FOR THE JOB WAS LESS THAN 1/2 OF WHAT WAS QUOTED.
