Willie Ventura was paid for a job he never completed. We trusted this company to do a good job based on mutual acquaintances, but our experience has proven to not trust this company at all. Willie came into my home, removed my toilet, faucet, and shower trim and then promptly left and never returned. We tried to contact him multiple times so he could complete the job he was hired to do, but with no result. When he does respond to messages he has multiple outlandish excuses. We spoke to the owners and they couldn’t offer a solution to complete this job or to refund our money. This is not how you run a business, Ventura Floors and Walls. I hope no one ever gets duped by these people again
I hired Salvador Ventura, Ventura's Floors & Remodeling, Gurnee, Il., thru a well respected painting contractor. Ventura was hired to remove existing floor tile in a basement laundry room, demo a basement bathroom and cement shower base to prepare to remodel and tile the basement bathroom. Ventura arrived at my house a few days later to look at demo work and complete remodel and tiling of the bathroom. He took only a few notes and said he was leaving on vacation and would be back in two weeks with my quote, but would do the job with his son. He showed me pictures of other bathroom jobs that were really nice. Ventura said, that he did himself the bathrooms in the pictures himself. I now find it hard to believe that he did. He also was trying to get the painting jobs to do that I was saving for the painting contractor who refferred Ventura to me! After 3 weeks went by, I contacted Ventura who not only didn't put together a quote but I had to remind him what the job was?? Red flag. A contract was agreed upon of which he had a high price of $1800 alone for demo work and removal of debris. I agreed to the work as I was expecting family to arrive this summer and need this work done. Oh, I paid for the $280 dumpster which was NOT included in the demolition quote. Long story short, these are the important facts. The demo work was not completed. Ventura stated he would have to charge me more to remove the cement shower base to rent tools, he was left in walls that were clearly rotted and loose which needed to be removed and was not demoing any of the bathroom for new durarock or drywall to be installed. As for the loose walls, Ventura stated when I pointed out that the shower wall was loose and moving and needed to be demo'd, "well, no one is going to walk on it, so it ok. I'll put drywall up and it will be fine." Thats when I requested he finish removing the laundry room floor tile, that he had stopped in the middle of the job, and hold off anymore work until I had my insurance agent contacted. Ventura "worked" for total of 12 hours in the two days he was at my house. I wanted to pay him for the time he had in on the job, (12 hours), AS VENTURA DID NOT FINISH AND DID A HORRIBLE JOB AT THAT. I asked how much I owed him for his time and the job was not finished, he told me the full amount of the $1800 that was on the contract. I reminded him he did not finish. He demanded the $1800. I gave him a Ck for the $1800 which he cashed within 30 mins. I had contacted him via text as he will not respond to phone calls and he stated in the text he would give back, $800 which he has not. Its been a month past. Ventura's word and work are no good. THE KICKER, he bad mouthed and trashed me to the painting contractor who referred Ventura to me in the first place !!!

They did the installation of hardwood floor in my dining room where I use to have carpet. They did a nice job and they were quick. I then called and had them come out a few weeks later and had them break up and remove tile in my entry way and lay new tile. This took about three days. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Installed hardwood floor in our dining room. Then I had them come back and remove tile, and lay need tile in our entry way.
Sal came out and gave a very competitive estimate and was willing to work with us as far as schedule. He came highly recommended from another tile installer and retail store. He is a very nice person and easy to work with but overall the job could have been better. First, he didn't seem very experienced installing the heated floor and I had to help with installation. There were a few sections in the shower tile that didn't line up very well and were even bowed out. After I pointed them out he fixed them without complaint but I felt he should have noticed them to begin with. The shower eventually turned out well with the tile but unfortunately the grout on the floor tile isn't as thick in some places which causes water to stand rather than go to the drain. It's only in one section but he hasn't come back to look at this even though I reached out to him and informed him. The floor tile is ok but I wouldn't say each tile is 100% flush and level with the surrounding tiles. He complained the sub floor wasn't very level so he had to differ his thickness under each tile. He also complained that the walls weren't level which led to some of the problems with the shower tile. The most disappointing thing however is the bull nose tiles on the side of the wall between the shower and vanity. The grout lines are varying thickness and they look awful. He could not provide a reason for this and I've tried to live with it but I'm going to have someone redo it this summer. I'm a little puzzled because of the positive reviews I had been told about him and his work ethic was great but the end result was very disappointing. He even did some painting and drywall patching while he was there that we paid him separately for and is probably why I'm not giving him an F rating.
Description of Work: Installed mat for heated floor, poured pan for shower and installed all tile for shower and bathroom floor.
This is the second time I have had Sal Ventura in my home and I am quite impressed with the quality of his work. The first time was a second floor bathroom remodel that came out exceptional. We were very happy and decided to use him again. This time our first floor bathroom that we had remodeled 4 years ago ended up with some cracks. This was not the fault of the contractor or anyone else for that matter. Our house was sagging and it was found that a load supporting wall was put over a single joist. A structural engineer and a construction company later and my walls and floors are flat. In the process of jacking the joist up and adding support, 4 cracks in the drywall appeared and 2 tiles in the bathroom cracked. I expected this. I called Sal to fix these problems. He sure did fix them. In and out in two days with no mess. Sal was left alone in the empty house with no problems. Even though he did not do a total repaint of the room, it can not be told where the cracks were and what was repainted. I am very happy with his work and would use him again for drywall, paint or tile work.
Description of Work: Pull up porcelian tiles to fixed cracked tiles, regrout with color of our choice, fix drywall cracks and repaint as necessary.
