MARIA'S CLEANING SERVICE

I have been using Maria's Cleaning Service for the last few years. They are absolutely excellent on all accounts. If they do the second storey, the charge is $75. They are a wonderful team. They are excellent and I can't say enough.

We have been with them for 2-3 years. They do a nice job. They are on time and if there will be a delay they call. They are very flexible with my schedule. If I'm going on trip or have to cancel, they work around us. It's a fair price and they stay until the job is done.

We hired Maria's Cleaning Service to clean our house in December 2008. We contacted Maria Whitaker (the owner), she arrived, gave us the evaluation and assigned a cleaning crew. Overall the cleaners did a decent job. Usually the bathrooms were clean, dust removed, furniture and carpets vacuumed and floors washed. We were usually home when cleaning was performed and could monitor the quality. Some time mid-2009 the quality of cleaning started to slip. We noticed more streaks on floors and tiles, spots missed here and there, floors under rugs would not be cleaned unless we reminded about them. We tried to resolve these issues with the cleaners on case-by-case basis and never made big fuss about them. We also felt that it was unnecessary to file a formal complaint to the owner about these incidents. The biggest problem was frequent lack of punctuality. There were several occasions when the crew arrived up to an hour later (or earlier) than scheduled without any explanation or a prior phone call. On one occasion in late summer 2009 the cleaners did not show up at all and gave us an explanation why they had missed the appointment days later. Our phone calls were almost never returned either. Another problem was lack of work organization. Every room was cleaned in several steps, when dusting, vacuuming and washing were stretched over long period of time and no room was finished until the whole house was done. For example, on Jan 5th 2010 in parts of the house dusting was done after the floors are washed and vacuuming happened even later. We asked the crew to change their routine to make this process more organized. On our part we tried to be accommodating: Several times we adjusted the schedule upon the crew’s requests. We were always at home at the time of appointment. As a mark of our appreciation of their work, the crew received Christmas bonuses from us in both 2008 and 2009. On one occasion we even helped one of the crew members with personal problems. Maria's approach to work is very hands-on. She was usually responsive to our requests of the schedule change. It was obvious to us that she wanted to provide good service and grow her business. She stopped by the house a couple of times to check on the cleaning crew and asked for our feedback. However, we found a little strange that she did not inform us about those visits. Once Maria arrived and instead of making me and my husband aware of her presence in the house, she went directly to those rooms where the cleaners worked at that moment. I practically had to intercept her to say hello and find out what the purpose of her visit was. And of course we felt very uncomfortable when we heard Maria and the cleaners having a loud and stern conversation in our master bedroom, of all places! A few days ago we received a surprise phone call from the owner informing us that the cleaning crew quit because "they feel too stressed" in our house. No other information or explanations, no 2 week notice. No replacement was offered either. We expected a far more respectful treatment of the long-term customers, even when the service is terminated. We do not recommend Maria's Cleaning Service to anyone. While quality of cleaning was adequate, it was neither reliable nor punctual. Communication was a problem and the process was messy. The termination of service was handled unprofessionally.

The first time they were very late, no call, I had to call her to see where she was, she was sitting outside my house waiting on the lady who was to clean. Maria blamed the lady for the delay. Late the next couple of times. THe first couple of times the cleaning was great! After that when I was not at home it went downhill. They used something on my floors that made them very slick when I called to tell her she didn't seem to concerned. THe lady that cleaned (not Maria) was very nice and a very hard worker, I think she may be overworked and tired by the time she got to my house. I was having some work down on my house so I needed to to skip a week. The next cleaning was not very good. I had cleaned myself the week I between. She said it was too much work when I did that. I called when I had a fever and asked if they could come two weeks in a row so it wouldn't be too much work. With the swine flu going around I would not want someone to come into my house, I had a FEVER! Since Maria does not do the cleaning I guess she didn't care about her worker. SHe was rude, she said she would call me back with a time when they could come. In the meantime, I thought more about it so I called to let her know I would take my business elsewhere as it seemed to be a problem that I was sick. She said OK.

When the house cleaner came to clean they upped the price and the hours were changed 5 hours to 4 hours.

They will continue to clean hour house for the forseeable future.

I called this service provider after finding it on Angies List. I was looking for a service to come weekly, so I scheduled the 1st cleaning. 2 women came, arriving about 15-30 minutes late with no call to inform me of the delay. They spoke some English. They stayed about 1-1/2 hours. They did a decent job cleaning. I found streaks on chrome bath fixtures, as if they had wiped them with the cleaning solution but not dried them off. They washed the wood floors thoroughly, on their hands and knees, and the carpet looked very clean. But my husband and children didn't know the house had been cleaned! We expect that when someone cleans, say, the bathroom, that the things we leave on the sink (toothbrush, toothpaste, hair gel, moisturizer, etc.) will be arranged nicely after the surface has been cleaned. But the women from Maria's Cleaning Service just left those items randomly scattered all over the counter! You couldn't tell anyone had cleaned there. Same thing for the bedrooms: the bed would be made but an extra blanket or throw pillow was just left on the bed wherever the maid had decided to leave it. Nothing was "arranged". Now, there are places like my desk where I do not want papers moved. But I expect that when a maid cleans the kitchen table, she will stack the newspapers in a pile along with any other papers that seem to accumulate there, not just move them around randomly. The price was fair for a house cleaning but I will not have Maria's cleaning service some for a regular weekly visit. I never heard from the provider again after the first cleaning. **UPDATE: she called 2-1/2 weeks later to find out how the cleaning had gone and to see if I would like them to come weekly. I must say, I prefer to be called sooner than that.

The women arrived on time and got right into cleaning. Maria, the owner, came in maybe three times to check how things were going. They were absolutely great! I am calling them back!

Maria called me back the same day. She addressed my concerns with my current service and that she would service all my cleaning needs.

Maria came at the appointed time and was friendly and professional. She gave me a folder with the services listed and names of referral customers. Maria is flexable and said she will try to accomodate any varience in schedule. When my husband comments on how great a job Maria's service did that's saying a lot. He isn't one to notice anything different in the house! I couldn't be happier with the job that they do. There is absolutely no supervision needed and they go above and beyond to please and know exactly what to do. Maria's sister came over to check and make sure I was satisfied. Great customer service. Great dependable on time service. I'm one happy camper!

Excellent! The workers came promptly and systematically cleaned the house from top to bottom. The house looked and smelled new. Great job.

I was thrilled with the job Maria's crew did. Maria came along in the beginning to see exactly what all had to be done, and to make sure there were no special requests on my part. She was extremely friendly, and eager to make sure our experience went well. The 3-person crew was also very sweet and professional. They did a superb job getting our house spotless! They went above and beyond (the gentleman stood on a ledge and leaned over to clean our entry chandelier). I felt like my house was spotless by the time they were done, and they didn't hurry/rush through anything. I would highly recommend Maria's Cleaning, and definitely plan to hire them again in the future!!!

It went very well overall. I have already scheduled regular cleanings with them for every two weeks.

We will use them going forward.

Overall, has been a good relationship. Maria and her crews have always been very responsive to us.

I called Maria's service after viewing her high rating on Angie's List. Maria called me right back and we set up an appointment at my house for an overview and estimate. We met as planned, set up a date and time for them to get started. The crew arrived with Maria on time and started in on the job. This is a big house, and has been vacant for some time. Two ladies spent about five hours cleaning. The next day, I met with Maria to pay her and look over the job they did. They exceeded my expectations. Everything went as planed at a very fair price. Good people to work with!

Two women arrived on time, and proceeded to make my house sparkle! While I don't think either of them spoke English well, they did a great job cleaning. My house sparkled, and still looks great a week later. I definitely will use this company again.

Maria came personally to introduce the crew and give me an estimate. Then she left and the crew got to work. Asked if there were any special types of cleaning supplies I wanted used - they would use mine if I had any special needs. They did a great job on my very dusty, cobweb, and cat fur covered house. My house has not been this clean in quite sometime. I plan to have back on a monthly basis. Prior to the service, Maria was very flexible in that I had to change the originally scheduled date and time.

They did whatever I asked them to do. They were very thorough in cleaning. They were quick. The only thing I didn t like was that I didn't know how much it was going to cost me until after the job was done. They didn t give me an estimate.
