This is by far, the BEST painted room in the house. If we had won the lottery, we would have every room in the house re-painted by Jonathan. We have work lined up for him to come back once we hit our savings goals to get the other "troublesome" rooms we need to have painted. We've already called Jonathan to do some additional work to repair some trim and re-paint. He is simply EXCELLENT. By far, the best painter we have had to do work in our house (we've had 2 others). Highly, highly recommend.

Touchstone did an excellent job of painting the exterior of our house. They were professional, punctual and the communication flow was excellent. The cedar siding was primed and then painted, which should extend the life of this work. They took exceptional care not to damage the deck that we recently had repaired/stained. I found the whole experience with Touchstone to be exceptional and have hired them to paint the interior of our home. I highly recommend them.

This is the 2nd time I have used Touchstone painting. They are excellent in all the work they do. We were moving into a new home and I called Jonathan to come and do the painting in above rooms before we moved in. He was responsive and flexible with our scheduling needs for an estimate and was able to accommodate us despite a few date changes we had in the week before the move. We hit a snag with the painting in the two bedrooms as we were trying to cover up wall stripes. Despite sanding the walls down and applying a few coats of paint, it was discovered the best solution would be to skim coat and re-prime the walls in the two rooms to avoid the stripes showing through. It cost a little extra time and money but I appreciate that this was discovered before all the walls were painted and that Jonathan was conscientious enough to explain the problem and come up with the best solution for me during the process.. The whole project took 2 1/2 days to complete. What I appreciate about this company is that they are trustworthy (I was able to leave my house without any worries) and they do excellent work with great attention to detail. It is well worth it to get the job done right the first time.

This was the third time I hired Jonathan and his crew to perform various projects in our home. I think Angies List should add the option to give Touchstone Painting an A+ for all the exceptional work they do. The dedication and the outstanding effort Josiah demonstrates is remarkable. He is professional and skilled beyond words. His work is so perfect and detailed, it is absolutely amazing to find a company that repeatedly and consistently delivers this caliber of work. They are not only fantastic painters, but are capable of doing excellent repair work as well. I am so pleased that I will never have to find another company to do painting or repair work in my home. It was awesome to have someone dedicated and attentive to details as this co achieved for completing all the projects. Had Jonathan and his fantastic crew work in 2012. in 2014 had the rest of the interior and the outside. Jonathan and his crew were professional, polite and any request were always positively answered. They always punctual Also they did a lot of drywall repair work necessary to fix cracks, gouges, damaged corner beads,nail holes peeling paint etc. They kept the environment as clean as possible, they put back everything as was in house and also clean up everyday and at the end of the project. Jonathan was very helpful to decide colors, and educate as well. Did not even break for lunch so they can finish all the projects on time , and communicated well. I felt that his quotes were fair comparing to other companies and I would mind referring this co. to anyone that would like to have very dedicated co working for them

I contacted Touchstone Painting Co to get an estimate for painting one room and for repairing holes in the drywall of our kitchen ceiling. Jonathan Richards came to the house, listened carefully, took notes and pictures, and talked to me about the work Touchstone would do. Later he provided a very detailed, clear estimate. The price was very fair and reasonable and I felt the attention to detail and great reviews on Angie's List were a good reason to hire them. When I needed advice with paint color Jonathan was very responsive and helpful. Josiah arrived on time on the scheduled work day. The work he did was excellent, very precise, very neat. Everything was completed as written in the contract, for example, all the fixtures and wall plates were removed, stickers were removed, walls were sanded smooth and painted with 2 coats of paint. All the work areas were left very clean and wall plates, blinds, etc were replaced. Our newly painted home office and kitchen ceiling look fantastic! Jonathan and his crew are extremely professional, very detail oriented and honest. We would use Touchstone Painting Co in the future and highly recommend them!

The quality of the work was outstanding. It's obvious that Jonathan's top priority is doing a high quality job. They understood that it was important to paint on days when there was little chance for rain and avoided high humidity days. Jonathan provided regular updates on the project, took extra time to explain what was next, and even helped us find a decorator to provide assistance with color selection. His team was neat, courteous, and trustworthy. This is the second time we used Touchstone and will use again for future projects...they are "best in class".

The service performed by Touchstone Painting was outstanding from start to finish. Jonathan, the owner, came to my home to prepare an estimate and provided options/recommendations, including cost saving options such as not painting the ceiling in the bedroom as it was in very good condition. The estimate was detailed and arrived in a timely manner and was in line with other estimates I received. I chose Touchstone to do the job based on the professionalism Jonathan displayed, as well as the many great reviews on Angie's list. The job went as planned, Jonathan and his staff arrived on time, took great care in protecting my furniture and floors, and left the place clean. The painting was very high quality and it looks great. I especially appreciate that Jonathan did the work and did not just bid the job and have others perform the work. Touchstone will be my painter for all future projects!

The guys did a fabulous job on both the interior and the exterior. I've removed wallpaper in this house myself, and I had warned them that it would be difficult, so we made sure to put a clause in the contract to allow for adjustments. Sure enough, the wallpaper came off just as hard as I'd warned them, causing them to almost double the time of the original estimate. Since Jonathan needed to bring in additional help, since he'd injured himself just prior to starting on our job, he reduced the hourly rate for the less experienced guys (which was part of the reason, but not entirely, for the increase in time.), so we ended up with a very fair cost for the amount of effort it took. The wall surfaces looked just perfect when Josiah got done with them, which was a minor miracle, based on my own experiences. Even more amazing, while the work was being done everything was very clean. I had expected all kinds of dust from sanding the extensive patching, and it was extremely clean. And when the actual painting was being done, there were almost no drip marks on the canvas that was put on the floor (and Josiah said they weren't new canvases, which tells you how clean he works.) Part of the reason we gave the exterior job to Jonathan was that he was the only one who had really focused on prep work. He was also the only one who suggested that, since it had been many years since the house was painted (We only painted it once ourselves in the 20+ years that we've owned the house), it would be a good idea to prime the house first with an oil-based primer. (You could see the old color peeking through on the west-facing surfaces.) That operation took a while longer than originally estimated, just because of weather delays (can't do oil-based when the wood is damp), but I'm certain that effort will extend the life of the siding. (Our neighbors, who also haven't painted but once in the years we've lived here, are having siding boards replaced as I write this.) The quality of work is largely determined by the prep work, and judging by the number of caulk tubes and primer used, I don't expect to repaint this house before I retire and move somewhere warm (hopefully in less than 10 years).Again, they were very clean. All materials were included in the quote, and Jonathan uses nothing but Benjamin Moore products, which is what we use ourselves. He kept in good communication with us throughout the job, which moved forward without problems other than from the weather. The work extended over 4 - 5 weeks, between both sets of jobs and weather delays, so we got to know the crew pretty well. We gave them access to the house while we were at work, which posed no issues. As far as the cost of the job, this certainly wasn't the cheapest, but the quality is definitely there. BTW, for the exterior job alone, the quote we'd gotten from Jonathan for a single coat (i.e. w/o the additional priming coat) was actually cheaper than I'd received from the college guys that used inferior products. We'd definitely use Jonathan again, maybe even this winter.....

I can't say enough good things about Jonathan Richards and his team. He LITERALLY transformed our newly finished basement into a work of art. From the geek-inspired game room, to the ocean feel of the bathroom, to a creative use of color in my new craft room. The geek-inspired game room included a chair rail and trim that each had to be painted a separate color. On the bottom of the wall, we used a metallic paint with a hammered look to it when it was finished. That in itself required a LOT of patience from Josiah and Jonathan as they learned the right way to use a new product they hadn't used before. The next layer up the wall was a SMALL piece of quarter-round that housed some LED strip lighting to give the whole room a "Bar" look. The first color we tried was white. It looked terrible so I asked Jonathan and Josiah to repaint that trim in black. It gave the room the look we were going for. Since we are Star Trek, Star Wars, and LOTR fanatics, the chair rail had to be painted gold, and the top of the wall, a Star Trek blue. With all this FINE detail that went into painting this room, I didn't get a single complaint from anybody on Jonathan's team about the extra work that had to go into the job. I bought them lunch on the days that I was home to provide lunch. It's my belief that if a contractor demonstrates respect for a customers home, and doesn't introduce any stress or anxiety into the job, that that contractor deserves a little extra TLC while on the job. I have hired Jonathan on several occasions to paint our home. I will NEVER hire anybody else other than Touchstone Painting to do painting in my home. He was a little higher than other quotes that I received for the same basement area, but chance are, I would've had to hire Jonathan to come in and fix up what an amateur or immature painter did to my walls. By hiring Jonathan, I could walk away and not watch their every move . . . I am comfortable with them in my home, and I can trust Touchstone Painting to do the job right the first time, every time. If there's an option to give an A+ I would choose that. This is the second time we hired them. I had Josiah came to paint our family room before and I just love his work and his professionalism. This time, we had him do the hallway (ceiling + wall) and kitchen wall. Josiah did another great job. He is an energizer bunny. He works fast and yet very perfectionist. Since we intalled the light above our stairs, the imperfections on the wall is pretty noticeable. I thought I mentioned it to Josiah during the walk through, not thinking that it was fixable with painting. His response was just he'll see and try to smooth it out. He didn't just try, he worked h****** it. He put tons of time to make it look flawless. I admire that and still in awe how much effort he put in and didn't seem to make such a big deal out of it. I didn't think by painting it could really fix it. We ended up paying additional for that job but it's worth it. We love how Josiah prep his tools and just go right to business. He cleans afterwards too. This project took about three days to finish but I feel I can trust Josiah to leave the house. You don't have to say anything, he'll do a great job. I can't say enough about him. I gave a "B" on the price because they are a bit more higher than the other quote we got. We almost went with the other since we got so many hiccups with our expense this early year. But I'm glad I was able to convince to work with Touchstone again. The extra work, the ease working with Josiah, the professionalism, the perfectionism, the feel that you will get a great result kind of feeling is worth an "A" or reasonable in my opinion. I am very picky and hard to please. And I don't usually do a review. Touchstones has won me. As long as they keep this great work and reasonable quotes, I will keep refer them to anybody who needs a great painting job. My fear is that they will be too busy with all these great reviews and it will be hard for me to get them in for our future projects :).

Superb in all regards. Touchstone was responsive on the phone, showed up when they said they'd show up, and all members of their team were friendly, highly professional and skilled, and very considerate. They were everything you would wish in a painter and more in terms of their set up, painting, and clean up. And the results of their work, and their high attention to detail, was excellent. I rated them with an "A" for everything except for price, where I gave them a "B." That is simply to reflect that there are many folks around willing to do such work for less (I know, cuz I have hired them in the past). Touchstone costs a bit more than the run of the mill operators out there, but their work product is worth every penny of that small added expense, in my opinion. In context, when you consider the high quality of their work and the ease of working with them, I think their pricing is highly justified and makes them the best "value" around. Would I hire them again? Absolutely , yes, and in fact, I did!

I'd always hated the paint color that we'd originally picked for the master bedroom. I knew I wanted something new but was unsure of what direction to take it. After bringing home a new piece of artwork from Hawaii, I totally knew what direction to take the colors. Instead of bright floral (I am NOT into florals) I chose colors that would highlight areas of the artwork. Our walls are silver, and the ceiling is two shades of purple. Highlighted by silver curtains and some new furniture, our bedroom in a work of art! Thanks to Jonathan, I can honestly say I can sleep peacefully at night. THANK YOU JONATHAN.

A superb job. I always look to see what got missed. It was a real and unusual pleasure to find nothing was missed as well as a superb paint job. I will be calling Touchstone painting for all our future painting. Their workmanship is superb.

Everything went smoothly from start to finish. Jonathan was always quick to return my calls and messages before the project started as well as throughout the project duration. He honored his original estimate even though the project ended up taking longer than he had thought. He was very courteous and professional and most importantly the paint job was done to perfection! The room we had them paint was just constructed so I really wanted someone who would do the quality of the materials justice. There was not a messy edge or corner to be seen! They stained the new windows and doors amazingly. It almost looks like they were pre-finished in the factory! I would definitely recommend Touchstone Painting to others and plan to use them again for my future projects.

Outstanding painting work! Prior to this project, we had done all of our own interior painting, and we were a bit anxious about having the work done by people who might not be as meticulous as we have been. But having reached "a certain age," and also having just bought a house in which the walls needed considerable work prior to painting, we turned to Angie's List to find the right company. Jonathan and his assistant, Josiah, are proud of their work and treated our house with the care they would give their own. They arrived at the appointed times, were very hard-working and efficient, and cleaned up thoroughly after each work day. They are also two of the nicest guys you will ever meet! We are thoroughly pleased with their work and have already scheduled the re-staining of our front door for next spring. We have definitely found a painter for all of our future needs and one whom we can confidently recommend to our friends and neighbors.
