7/12/12 Overall, the roof seems fine. The crew seemed to know what they were doing. The estimate process went well. They came on the appointed day on time and finished in a day. They called before the work would begine to alert me to when materials would be dropped off and when the work would commence. A collateral damage claim was inquired about, a callback was promised, but never heard anything. A referral fee was due me and not paid. 12/23/12 The roof job no longer is fine as it is Incomplete roof replacement with missing materials, some collateral damage to interior, company representatives are not cooperative once they've been paid. They lie about calling you back. They won't even come out and look at what your concern is even though it would take them only about five minutes, and they don't care that you are waiting for their call for months on end. 01/13 Jaimie came out and inspected the areas of concern I had, missing drip edge, cracks in a ceiling, some decking issue, flashing concern; he said he'd contact the owner and get back to me after his upcoming vacation, but he never called me back. 04/24/13 missing flashing is causing water damage in my attic space, called the company 04/18/13 while it was raining and was promised a callback, but there has been none. The company says they have a 10-year workmanship warranty on their work, but they have not stood behind it for any of my issues, which obviously continue to arise. 05/29/13 I called the company representative Jaimie's cell # a couple weeks after he had promised me that someone would contact me about looking into the leaking flashing problem. He did not pick up, so I left a message and asked that he at least call me back and let me know if the company was going to help me or not. He never called back. I was just reading through the undated company's response to my complaints, and I hope that readers see how emotional and unprofessional it is. I don't know who wrote it, but it is mostly made up of false information, tries to make me out to be the bad guy when all I wanted was to have a couple issues resolved that would not have cost the company much time or money. My experience documents that the company obviously does not stand behind their 10-year warranty for workmanship, and they could care less that a senior citizen has to climb up on a high pitched roof and try to patch some flashing that was not installed during a roofing job. Please note that this complaint has been moved to the company's location in Earth City, MO, but the problem involves an office they have or had in Granite City, Il. I alerted Angie's List to this, and they said it appears to be the same company.
Description of Work: 7/12/12 The old roof was removed down to wood decking and a new roof was put on. The crew arrived on time and completed the job within a day. I was due a referral fee of $50 when a neighbor also hired this company( as promised by my job foreman who completed two quotes for neighbors on my street), but they have not paid the money after calling repeatedly about it, which is annoying. There was some minor collateral damage to my gutter and driveway, but I didn't mention it, but at a second house of mine where I also hired this company to put on a roof, there was some collateral damage inside the house, cracks in a ceiling and along a wall that appeared during the installation of the roof. I had just painted the interior of the house and repaired any cracks the previous year, so the conditon was good before the roof was put on this year. I mentioned this to the crew leader and he said the house was old and probably was settling or something, but he said he would mention it to his boss, but there never was any follow-up on my claim. They should have at least called me back and come to look at the damage rather than just ignore me like they have, just common courtesy. I would not hire them back. 10/12 I was finally given two gift cards in place of the $50. 12/23/12 After a closer examination of the roofing job I discovered missing materials (drip edging) and faulty woodwork on added planking. After repeated calls to the office and to Jason Koessel over two monthsl, I was promised return calls and promised appointments with Jaimie (?), but no calls have come and no appointments have been made. They supposedly warranty their workmanship for 10 years. Still waiting for callbacks, might have to hire another company to finish their work. 04/24/13 During the heavy rains last week, I noticed water dripping into my attic space due to poor flashing installation after last summer's insstallation of the new roof by this company. I called the company last Thursday and my call was returned by Jaimie who said Paul would call me and presumably arrange a repair. To this date no call has been made, so my house is in danger of further water damage until this problem is resolved. Flashing is a basic given in roofing jobs, so this oversight on the company's part is very serious.

Response from One Way Construction LLC
This customer’s complaint is completely unfounded and we would like to address it in the following response. As the customer described in the review, the time leading up to the installation of his roof and the actual install of his roof went without issues or concerns. However, the customer complained that he was due a referral fee. This is not accurate. A neighbor of the complaining customer did use us for their roof. However, this was in no way from a referral from the customer. The neighbors saw our truck and called from that. For a customer to be owed a referral, they must directly refer another customer to us. In fact, we spoke to the neighbor about this and they even supported that the customer had no way referred them to us. In fact, they said they had never spoken to the customer about us. They had simply called from seeing our trucks in the neighborhood. The customer called frequently asking for his referral fee. He was told at this time that he was not owed one. After numerous phone calls demanding his referral fee, we conceded and gave him gift cards simply to stop any conflict about the issue. The only thing this customer has a legitimate complaint about is the missing dripedge on one section of his home. This has been addressed and we have tried numerous times to contact this customer to get it taken care of. However, he has not returned our calls and so this part of his complaint has not been resolved. We are more than willing to install the missing dripedge if he would get back to us. As far as the interior damage he claims we did to his home, that is completely false. The home already had damage prior to us working on the home and we can document this. In fact, he states we never got back to him about this damage. That is false as well. Jaime, Project Manager for ONEWAY, went and looked at the damage and took pictures, which we would be happy to supply. We had nothing to do with the interior cracks to walls and can absolutely prove this. This was previous damage to the home that the customer is financially responsible for and trying to put on us to fix. All in all, this customer is blatantly using Angie’s List as a public forum for fixing previous damage to his property and extorting more money from us. We have tried to make him happy by even giving him referral money which was never owed to him. However, he still went on this public forum and slandered us. He even says in his complaint that the work done to his home was good except for the missing dripedge, which we have tried numerous times to repair with no response from the customer. We have returned his calls on every occasion, but he seems to demand money not owed to him and repair for damage we did not do to his property. We always do our best to resolve any complaints by customers, and we feel badly that this customer has such issue with us. However, he does say that our work was good and communication was well until he started demanding things he was not owed.
