They came promptly to visit me, but my follow up questions took a little while for the rep to get back with me. He was very pleasant. The install crew did a good job. They responded to any issues I had.

David Miller met with my husband to discuss getting new casement windows for our house. We have about 56 windows and were looking at replacing 23 windows to start with. We had Norco windows installed 17 years ago. We felt some of them were in bad shape and wanted to replace them with a better quality window. After doing much research, we were looking at replacing 23 now and the rest later w/Anderson windows. I was not there for the meeting but my husband was very impressed with Mr. Miller's professionalism and honesty. He walked around the house and measured all the windows. After looking at them, he said that the windows were in good shape and really only needed new hardware for opening and closing the windows properly. The meeting lasted about 3 hrs. To replace all the windows (some were triples, doubles, singles), David estimated around $40,000. We expected it would cost around this much and so were not surprised at the figure. Renewal by Anderson was given high ratings by Angie's list and I felt assured that this was a legitimate price. However, we'd planned on contacting other firms so nothing was contracted at this time. In the end, since we didn't need to replace all the windows and Marvin windows are more similar in style to Norco than Anderson, we decided to go with another firm. Everyone at Renewal, including the personnel in the showroom were warm and friendly without being overbearing and pushy. This was a worthwhile experience.

He was professional, punctual, and courteous. The only problem was that I could not justify the difference of costs between him and another service provider. He worked out different quotes and plans for me. Had it not been for the price, I would have chosen him.

The experience was fantastic. They’re fabulous in every way, except they are extremely pricey. David Miller, the sales rep, was extraordinary. He held my hand through the entire process. I used them for the windows in the front of my home, since curb appeal is important. I have a very large bowed bay window and the installer, Stanley, and his crew did a really outstanding build-out of this window to where it looks better than my old window. I’ve had many, many compliments of the visual artistry of the design of the window. This man and his crew are artisans. Every time I look at this window, it gives me a lot of joy because it turned out so great.

The company definitely has the sales process down. They brought fliers, window samples, material samples etc to the first visit. Took almost 2 hours on the first visit and would have gone longer because they typically do the estimate right then and try to get you to sign with an on the spot discount. Luckily our estimator's laptop had died so he couldn't do the esimate that day. It was an interesting sales pitch but you know you are in trouble price wise when they tell you they are top of the line and they aren't cheap. They aren't kidding. Full price came in 12-13,000 more than any other estimate we received (and I recevied at least 5 others). Because of the laptop issue, had to come back 1 week later for another 45 minutes. Presented the proposal and tried to talk us into signing then to get a discount. Also gave us information slamming Pella windows - which I don't think is very professional. (Andersen has had it's own crop of issues over the years too). Bottomline - these are an interesting window - but simply way too expensive.

We loved David. If we could choose our replacement windows and door based solely on the sales rep, we would have gone with Renewal by Andersen. Unfortunately cost was a factor, so we chose a similar product from a different company. David was fabulous in explaining the replacement window options we had. He showed us samples of vinyl, fiberglass, composite, and wood windows and discussed pros and cons of all of them. He also had internet articles and photos to back up what we were discussing. Unfortunately, the cost for the job was $3,000.00 more than the second highest estimate we received. We went with the next highest estimate. We had 4 estimates before making a decision on the windows. I would definitely contact them again in the future.

We have been considering replacement windows for our home for almost 2 years. We have checked home center pricing, and another leading installation company. At this round, the process began when we received a sale offer in the mail, and I saved the paper for about 2 months. After checking Angie's List and seeing a high rating for Renewal, we called for an estimate. Frank arrived on time, and was very patient with our many questions. He took rough measurements and showed us many choices. He was well prepared and very pleasant. He took an unusual amount of time with us, explaining the pricing and financing offers. We even started to talk about an exterior door. Before he left, he entered every detail, every size, color, into an order form, added the appropriate discounts and left us with a printed copy. He suggested the show room in Glenview to see more of the choices in operation. The next day was Sunday, and I left an email for Frank that we would go to the showroom. We were not there but a few minutes when Frank called my cell phone. Were we able to get inside, or should he come to unlock the door? Did we prefer that he meet us there? Neither were necessary, but I was certainly impressed by his willing service at the odd time. The show room was beautifully laid out, and the staff there very pleasant. Our final decision was that, while we could not afford the whole house to be redone, (Andersen is not the low price choice), rather than go with a less expensive product, we would do the most urgent windows this year, and hope to do the rest in the future. Unfortunately, for Frank, that meant he had to redo all the paperwork. He arranged to return to our home a few days later, and made a new printout. Again, right on time and pleasant. Just as Frank said would happen, we received a call to schedule the inspection, where precise measurements were taken. The arrival was on time. Next step was a few weeks later, to schedule the installation. We were able to schedule days convenient for us. Then installation day arrived. We had followed all the instructions for preparing the work area, like remove the window treatments, move furniture out of the way etc. The arrival was scheduled between 8 and 10 am. They arrived at 8:10 with the first part of the crew, who checked the rooms where installation was to be completed. While I wasn't personally here the whole day, my husband reported that the crew worked very hard, taking a break when it rained, but still completing the job during regular hours. He noted that the crew attached a plastic sticky sheets to the carpet to protect it. And before they left, they went through with him all the operations of the windows. When I came home, there was no debris, and I could tell the driveway had been swept. The windows were just the colors they were supposed to be. You might not think that new windows would really enhance the curb appeal of the home, but it really does. The caulking is smooth, and the frames look sturdy. As a bonus, Frank had said we would probably not be able to keep using the window treatments in one of the rooms. But my installer was able to offer my husband an option, and they still fit! That is a large expense and a lot of trouble to avoid! Then, Frank called to be sure we were satisfied. We definitely were.

From the beginning this company was very responsive. While very expensive, it was important for me to have a quality product. They applied a series of discounts and offered reasonable financing for the project. They rebuilt the window casings and were very careful to measure well to make sure I would be able to remount my blinds once they were done. The carpentry work on the window sills and molding is expertly done and very carefully constructed. They crew worked efficiently and communicated what they were doing and in what order they were going to do it. They covered and cleaned up after themselves well. Originally the job was to last one day, but they extent of deterioration once they removed the windows made the job more extensive than estimated. They worked until 7:30pm to finish the exterior and arrived at 7:30am the next morning to finish the interior. Great quality. Great Experience. Expensive, but worth it.

The sales guy, Pete was nice, thorough, not pushy, available for questions, and came in with about our lowest quote. We have a dryvit house, and Andersen windows/doors are the only windows/doors that are warrantied on an EIFS house. Frankly, that made the decision kind of a slam dunk...but it was surprising how many other vendors we had out to quote who did not know that their doors were not warrantied on our house. They sent out a master craftsman type guy to measure the windows and make installation notes. Pretty much every company was scared to install the doors in our house as they were concerned both with working with Dryvit and pretty much everyone made us think that we would have to get a Dryvit company out, (a few more thousand $$$), to completely finish the installation. The master craftsman guy was very thorough, explained all of the issues and all of the assumptions that they were going to make in installing the doors. (...this will be a little lower...we'll build this up here...) He made you feel very comfortable that they were going to do a good job. Then the installers came in installed the doors over a two day period. They were very good as well. So far, the doors are great...the installers were extremely careful...so we didn't need a follow-up dryvit contractor to come in...and they have made it through some very wet weather without issue. They were a solid value and really seem as individuals and as a company to stand behind their installs. We're very glad to have chosen them.

What a wonderful experience it was working with Renewal by Anderson! Dave Miller, our sales rep, came over on short notice and was so helpful explaining the process, products and quality of the windows/door. He was very responsive with a couple changes I wanted after placing the order and always accessible throughout. The technician who came out to take the official measurements was also so helpful in describing the process. The installers came yesterday - 10 minutes before the hour window they were scheduled to arrive! - and were done in little over 3 hours. Their attention to detail, from laying plastic over the carpet to making sure everything was spotless when they were done, was fantastic. Everyone I dealt with throughout this process was so helpful and nice. The attention to customer service was wonderful. Thank you Anderson!

An estimator/sales person came to the house, measured the door and quoted the price. The door had to be custom made so it took a little longer to come in (about 6 weeks). When the door came in, a person called to set up an appointment for installation. The installers arrived and discovered electrical wires in the path of the door. Our electrician could not come right away to disconnect the wiring. The installers were very understanding. Once the wires were disconnected, I called for another appointment. We were able to schedule the second appointment at no extra charge within a week. Installation was relatively quick. The installers are extremely careful to cover everything in the area around the installation (both inside and outside) and clean up after themselves. Since the doors were wood with wood frames, we then scheduled an appointment with the person who performs the staining. This is our second experience working with the stainer. He does an excellent job matching the staining to our other stained areas - even when the wood species are different. One of the things I like about Andersen is that the price they originally quote is the price I paid. We have now had all of our windows replaced by Andersen. We have one more patio to replace. I look forward to working with them again.

Called them after reading reports on Angie's list. There were other options, but most if not all had problems with the estimate, scheduling, price, measuring, insulation, construction, fit or cleanup. I wanted none of those problems. Renewal By Andersen (Glenview) seemed to have no such issues after a review of the Angie's List database. I called them on the strength of my research, met with Gail who carefully measured and gave me an estimate after applying several discounts. I never looked for a second estimate. I signed on the spot. However I made it very clear why I would look no further - and that was their Angie's list reputation. I wanted a perfect job from start to finish. Guess what - that's exactly what I got. A measurement specialist was sent out to confirm Gail's specs. They matched!! The workmen covered all the interior traffic patterns and furniture with plastic, and in two days they were done and gone. Everything fit, nothing was disturbed and I had 23 new windows that looked great inside and out. My neighbor from across the street came over (his house is similar to mine) the next day and asked to see the job. After a walk through, he commented on what a nice job they had done, and what a thorough clean up we had done. He nearly fell over when I told him we had done nothing, and this was the way Renewal By Andersen had left the house the day before. They were teriffic. End of story, my neighbor called Gail and just last month had Renewal By Andersen of Glenview put 26 windows in his house. They are coming back here this fall to do two more windows for me in the attic.

We contracted with Renewal by Andersen to have the original bow window on our split-level home replaced with a bay window. The window had to match the exterior of our other replacement Andersen windows which were replaced 3 years ago. The salesman, Mike, was very helpful and had an interesting idea for the exterior which we ultimately decided to do. He also had photo examples of previously completed windows that were similar in style to ours for us to look at. He took the initial window measurements and was able to provide us with the bid the same day. We informed him that we were getting an additional bid and would make our decision within the next week. We accepted the bid and were promptly contacted by Andersen to set up the technical measure. The technician arrived on time, measured and explained the details of the installation to us. We had originally been told that the custom window would take 4-6 weeks to build, however, the window was completed in under 4 weeks and was installed on an earlier date, which was great. The 2 Andersen installers who installed the window were amazing - from set up to clean up they were the ultimate skilled craftsmen. They clearly knew what they were doing and took pride in their workmanshp. They did such a super job that my husband gave each installer a tip.

The entire process was excellent. I look forward to years of windows that work. The only miscommunication was that an appointment for finishing the inside of the windows was not made so that it could be done immediately after the installation was complete. There was a week between completion of the job and the painting. The painting was also a wonderful job.
Description of Work: I wanted to have my front windows replaced, which turned out to be about 12 feet of window. My experience started with a visit to their Lombard site, where the engineering behind the windows was explained. Then I got a home visit from Renee, who is the designer. She made several suggestions, which I incorporated, and which I was glad that I did. The windows look wonderful. Renee then sent someone to measure and finalize a quote. There was a question of support for such large windows, so a second engineering visit was required. The installation crew worked all day, and did an excellent job. In addition to the most important thing -- quality -- they were very tidy and very nice, and took the time to answer questions as they worked. I honestly felt like I was dealing with "Holmes on Homes".

For this installation two workers came and said it would take one day. I had my doubts. They worked from 8 am to 8 pm. Instead of installing flashing around the edges of the ill fitting windows were it meets the brick, they sloppily ran at least a ? inch bead of caulk. I thought it looked terrible. My neighbors thought it looked terrible. I had the installation manager come out and he admitted that the installers ?should have worked with me? about that. He said they would wait a week for the caulk to dry, then come out and remove it and install flashing. The same installers came back a week and a half later, unannounced. I am glad I happened to be home. They installed inadequate flashing and tried to spread more gobs of caulk. Enough is enough. I stopped them and sent them on their way. I guess I will finish the job myself. The manpower scheduled for this job was obviously inadequate. I am not surprised corners were cut trying to get the job done before it got dark at 8:15 pm. I would not have minded them taking two days. One day with two workers was their idea. The installation manager Jim said he does not schedule crews. ( The appointment was made by Sue and she said although it would not be the same crew as the previous job, it would be more workers and a good crew.) Although Andersen has a good product, paying the higher price for a sloppy and unprofessional installation was not worth it.
Description of Work: Installed one very large living room picture window with one casement on each side, installed three dining area casement windows, and also 2 large sliding glass windows in family room. The representative came out looked at and measured the doors and window. He entered the measurement into his laptop along with the requested design elements and showed us the price for the job. When he was getting ready to leave he said that he would email us the proposal for the job on the following Monday or Tuesday. Now almost two weeks later we have not received any proposal for the project. We consider this to be non-responsive and non-proffessional.

Representative was late for appointment, altho' she called to let us know. As soon as she walked in, she looked at doors, measured and gave us a price. We were not shown any samples, other that a picture from a book. We were given no information on glass type, UV info or any other pertinent information and even when we asked, it was like pulling teeth. The standard answer was "It's Andersen", as if that is all we needed to know. It felt as if we were wasting her time. After the rep left, I did look thru' the booklet and it showed different options that we were not told about, i.e. hardware choices, interior colors. My husband and I both felt as if our business was not important or wanted. I believe she was at out home about 15 minutes. We had another appointment with a different company that spent well over an hour with us and brought samples and we were given an abundance of info that answered all our questions. Andersen left us in the dark about what we needed to know to make an informed decision on an important and costly replacement for our home.

Wonderfully. Had quotes from three companies. Cindy showed up promptly for initial estimate, and followed up by email since we were limited on time to meet with her. Answered all questions we had as we compared quotes, gave us discount for the number of windows we had, and reworked proposal three times as we changed our minds about the number of windows we wished to replace. Technical estimator completed his work in a couple of hours, and set initial installation date. Since the windows were ready earlier, we were able to do the work two weeks earlier than originally expected. Completed most of the work in four days (they had originally anticipated three), in spite of some bitterly cold weather. They took real pride in their work, checking with us regularly re: how we wanted trim, caulking, etc. done. Outside trim took a day or two longer, because of the irregular sizes of our windows. They were very clean, inside the house and out, and the company followed up with us after installation, reminding us of their willingness to come out if anything else is wrong. 5-year warranty on installation, plus 20 years on windows is a good deal. We were very pleased with the quality of the work, the look and feel of the house now, and how relatively painless the whole process was. They were a delight to work with.

They arrived on time; they were polite & pleasant; they were professional; they worked consistently. They added insulation. They removed the old windows and disposed of them. The only reason I gave a B rating for price is because they are very expensive.

The project went like clockwork. The salesperson took all the specs, worked out details with me--including preferred installation dates, which they met--despite the fact that my schedule is a bit unusual. Then, the crew chief came out to re-measure, confirm all the had been discussed earlier, and work out installation requirements. Then on the appointed days, a crew of seven (day one) and two (day two) appeared right on time, removed the old windows, added insulation, and installed the new. These crews worked HARD obviously knew what they were doing. Old windows and junk were hauled away. All dirt and dust were cleaned up too. The crew chief inspected all the windows with me before the job was done. Two weeks later, a painting company with which Anderson contracts came out to stain 10 of the windows to match the existing woodwork. They did a great job too.
Description of Work: Anderson replaced 24 basement, first floor and second floor screens and windows (double hung) in my 100+ year old home. Many of the windows were originals. No two windows were exactly alike, so it was very much a custom job. New windows are energy efficient--and beautiful, both inside and out.

It was a very cold day to have one side of the house completely open, but the work crew quickly removed the old doors, replaced the rotten wood with a new frame, and then installed the new door system. The new doors are much more energy efficient, have better locking mechanisms and look really nice!
Description of Work: They removed two sets of sliding glass doors and replaced them.
