Renewal By Andersen

I requested an in-home estimate to replace 4 windows and a glass door. The lady on the phone told me that we needed to set aside 60-90 minutes for the visit and that all home owners must be present. I told her twice that this meeting would just be with me, not my wife. She absolutely insisted that all homeowners had to be present because these were custom windows (so what?). She finally asked tor a time that would work in the next 60-90 days for both of us. I told her to forget it. Like a lot of Angie's List members, I am looking to get 2-3 quotes when I spend several thousand dollars on home repairs. What Andersen is doing has all of the hallmarks of a high-pressure in-home sale. If you've ever found yourself being pitched a vacation timeshare, they always insist both spouses must attend because they know they can't close the sale otherwise. That is EXACTLY what this felt like. There is absolutely no reason they couldn't give me a quote without my wife there unless their sales tactics demand it. I'm just glad I didn't purchase the coupon deal Angie's List is selling ($400 of windows for $40) before I called them. Like most deals that look too good to be true, I'm now 100% certain that coupon is a really bad idea.

They just did a nice and clean job. They have a good reputation. They are very professional.

The windows are wonderful and work amazingly. The custom window took extra time to create so there was about a 6 week timeframe between the placement of the order and when they called to schedule the install. The install took one day and the guys were all very nice and they kept the place very clean. There was a problem with the scheduling (we scheduled and confirmed for a Friday install and no one showed up) but they more than made up for it by coming out on that Saturday (the next day) and doing the work.

Buyer beware! I purchased a "Big Deal" on Angies list to replace a basement window. The next morning I received a call asking if I would like to set up an appointment for a quote. When I explained it was a basement window well and/or window I was told that Renewal by Andersen does not do basement windows and I should contact Home Depot or Lowes! When I originally searched "basement window well replacement" Renewal by Andersen was the first to come up so I am not sure if this mistake is by Andersen or Angie's list however I what I do know is that I have wasted my time and money!

Called Renewal about a leaking window. While we have owned our home for 2 years, the previous owners replaced the windows in the home at various stages. As a result, some of them where covered under warranty while others were not. Despite the fact this particular window was not covered, Renewal still sent out someone to recaulk the outside of the windows of our home - even the one we were not having any issues or those past warranty. Very few companies would ever do something like this, especially since we were not the original homeowners to replace (and pay for) the replacement windows. While I know we will likely have to pay an arm and a leg for any future window replacements, it is situations like these that demonstrate why service is just as important as product when deciding to work with a company.

During 2009 and 2010 I spent almost $22000.00 for windows from this company. In 2011 I twice requested service on windows leaking on the inside of my home. It took a couple of service technician reviews as well as a manager review to finally schedule the "reinstallation" of the windows to stop the damage inside my home. In 2014 these same windows need service as the exterior wood framing and trim is so water damaged that the trim, exterior sheathing, insulation, and interior sheetrock needs replacing. The original installer that was here on May 8, 2014 to remove the exterior window capping (for a fee of $350.00) and became fully aware of the rotted wood (he pulled some off). On May 19, 2014 an independent contractor reviewed the damage and advised me the damage was caused by poor window installation. On May 25, 2014 an insurance claims adjuster inspected the entire exterior of my home and stated the damage was caused by improper window installation and denied the insurance claim. On May 29, 2014 a RBA service technician reviewed the damages and stated he would contact his manager the same afternoon to arrange another review as this was a "bad situation." Since that time my calls and emails to RBA have either been ignored or answered by "we're trying to coordinate schedules." In the meantime every time it rains it causes more damage. These RBA windows may be considered "top of the line" but are really only as good as the installation. Buyer beware!!!

They were incredibly rude and refused to meet with only me for an in home estimate unless my husband could attend. When I let them know that I was more than capable of making the decision on my own and we were not both able to attend the appointment Anderson refused to schedule an appointment with me unless my husband could be there. I will never contact them again. On the other had Feldco and Pella were very gracious and very accommodating. So will be hiring one of them.

If there was a rating higher than "A" I'd definitely give it. The first part of the window replacement project was installed 20 months ago and I could not be happier. In the first part I had 19 replacements installed. For my own reasons I had to wait more than a year and a half before I could get the last sliding glass door installed and that's happening today. I've had the same installation crew out both times and they've done a fantastic job. Andy and his crew of 4 have worked together for many years and you can tell they are a very well coordinated group who function smoothly as a team. They are experienced and meticulous craftsman and did a perfect installation. They were very professional and courteous, and quite pleasant to talk to. They did their work efficiently and cleaned up so thoroughly you would not have known they were ever here -- and this was a huge project. The scheduling at Andersen is handled extremely well. Everything was done as planned, they followed up to be sure, and the crew showed up on time as promised. There is simply not one single thing I could complain about. I give Renewal by Andersen the absolute highest rating possible. Also, since my first 19 windows went in 20 months ago, I've had plenty of time to live with the result. The windows and doors work beautifully, they are easy to clean, and they have proven to be one of the best investments I could have made in my home. My energy bills are noticeably smaller and the house is now draft-free. This project was a 100% success and I would recommend them enthusiastically. I would definitely call on them again if the need ever arises.

Renewal by Andersen would not give us an estimate unless my husband could be present. They offered to come on a weekend or evening so he could be at home when they came. Just for the record: My husband would rather pull out his own teeth than sit through a 90-minute sales pitch from any home improvement company. I have made all the decisions for such things -- including remodeling four kitchens, replacing carpeting in three houses and an 1800-foot addition back in 2003 without any "supervision" from him. Moreover, I am the one who is in charge of design and construction decisions, and I pay for everything myself. This policy is offensive and discriminatory. Besides, what if I were single? Would they ask for my dad to be there? It's 2014, not 1914. I will take my business elsewhere and advise you to do the same.

It went pretty well. They finished the work quickly and on time. I was very impressed with the salesman and the installers.

Everything with perfect with removal, installation and cleanup. We are very happy with the project.

We had a great experience with them. We liked everything about them. They were exceptional. The thing that stands out most is, there is one person who does the finishing for them. He stained the inside of the windows, and it needed to match the woodwork of the room, and he did an exceptional job. It looked like it had been there all along. The installation was terrific, and they were very experienced, and I just can't say enough about them. They seem to be hiring a lot of foreign people, people from Ukraine, Slovakia, Russia, and that is fine, because they are exceptional. I hired this guy to come back to paint two bathrooms, and he did an exceptional job. They are pricey, but they are worth it. We plan on using them in the future.

I was unable to obtain an estimate as the company refused to provide information to me without my spouse.

The windows were replaced last year and look fabulous! Great experience from beginning to end. The salesperson was informative and responsive to my requests. The installation crew was efficient and professional. I've made two service calls for simple fixes and they send someone over right away.

Everything went very well. We met with the company's representatives and he was knowledgeable and honest with the details of how much it would cost and the type of windows available. Installation was very quick and very good. The new window in the dining room was very well done and looked great with the rest of the living windows. The replacement windows upstairs and in the kitchen were also very well done. It's been almost a year since the windows were put in and they are still one of the very best investments made for the house. I am still very satisfied with the windows and when I need to replace the basement and living room windows I will be calling the company again.

The installers work in consistent teams. The same crew that installed front windows in September installed the rear windows in March. The installers have an obvious professional pride in their installation; and when they're finished they're pleased with the quality. Andersen Renewal is very pleasant to work with, from the consultants to the office personnel and installers ........and of course the "workshop" in Minnesota where your beautiful windows are custom made. This was a big project with enormous satisfaction for the homeowner.

I have used Renewal by Andersen before to replace windows in a related living area and was quite pleased with both the product and the professionalism of the salesman and the installers. When it came time to replace windows in the main part of my home, I contacted Andersen again. This time things did not go as smoothly, but I was pleased with Andersen's commitment to make things right. I am still very satisfied with the product and the professionalism of the people I have dealt with, from the salesman to the office personnel to the installers and would use them again for the second half of this project in the future.

The installers arrived on time and were courteous. They explained the whole process to us. They also kept us updated throughout the installation. After the installation was finished they explained how to operate, clean, and maintain the windows. I would highly recommend Andersen Renewal Windows. Not only do the windows look 100% better they operate beautifully.

We love our new Renewal by Anderson Windows. Great material-whihc is worth the extra cost over vinyl. The installers did a fine job.

Very professional to deal with and the installation went smoothly. I would have liked a little better communication on instal day (someone checking in how things were going, for example) b/c we had one hiccup that ended up prolonging the process an extra day. All in all, the new windows look great and do exactly what we thought they would do.

Doors are beautiful and were a lot less expensive than Pella for similar style and quality. Installation went fast and smooth. I would recommend Renewal by Andersen.

Pleased except for two things. First, the saleslady's recommendation for picture windows was overridden by the technical person who recommended stationary doors which we did and they worked out fine. Second, the installers didn't speak English very well and I didn't understand them and they didn't understand me. This resulted in a problem regarding alarm wires.

Renewal by Andersen was very prompt and professional from start to finish. We wanted to go with Andersen because we wanted to match windows that had been added in an addition to the house 10 years ago. We wanted to match the red trim and it matches perfectly. We got top end windows so we paid a lot for them but the windows are beautiful. Our house is a 1926 brick Tudor and the windows fit the style perfectly. As for the installation, the crew was there early and they were able to remove and put in all 13 windows and all new trim and windowsills in one day and then came back and only worked on the outside trim the second day. They tried to be as clean as they could and vacuumed and swiffered before they left. There was still dirt but much less than there could have been. We noticed that some of the screens were wavy so we had someone come out to look at them and they reordered 8 of them without question. We know people might not always like the price but they cannot complain about the service! We are very happy.
