Montoya Tree Svc

In the early summer, I noticed that I had a whitish growth on some shrubs in my backyard. When I asked my landscaper about this, he suspected that this could be a fungal infection. He referred me over to Montoya Tree Service and said he had recommended them to other customers in the past. So I called Montoya Tree Service and set up an appointment for 6/5/21, and everything started off nicely. Javier (who I later learned was the owner) came to my house and inspected everything and said that this was likely a fungal infection but that he wasn't sure if anything could be done about it until the spring. He said that he would get back to me with a final answer on this along with a quote for what the work would cost. That was fine with me, but I never heard back from Javier. I let about a month go by and then called back asking for an update sometime in July. The person I spoke with was very apologetic and wasn't able to offer a good explanation but said that they would speak with Javier and that someone would get back to me. I got busy and the whole thing slipped my mind until September, when I realized that I still hadn't heard back from anyone. I thought this was really strange, but wanted to give these guys a chance as my landscaper is great and had previously referred his other customers over. So I called back again on Saturday, 9/11/21, and spoke with Jocelin. I explained the situation and my confusion as to why nobody had called me back. She was very apologetic and explained that Javier was the owner and that she was his daughter. She spent a lot of time on the phone with me and told me how seriously they took the concerns of their customers. I appreciated her time and attention to this issue and she convinced me that she was focused on moving forward and making sure that everything was taken care of properly. She told me that she would speak with Javier and that he would likely come back to my house to re-evaluate my shrubs since 3 months had passed. She also told me that she would make sure that I received a quote that would have a discount reflecting my experience up to that point. Jocelin assured me that she would get back to me on Monday, 9/13/21, via phone, email, or text. I felt much better about the whole situation after the conversation ended. Unfortunately, I didn't hear back from Jocelin on 9/13, and decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and wait a few days. On Thursday, 9/16/21, I called and left a voicemail for Jocelin asking for a call back. I was very disappointed to not hear back from anyone that day. I continued to call and leave a voicemail asking for a call back on an almost daily basis until 9/27/21 to see if anyone would call me. I didn't hear back from anyone. In case there was something wrong with their phone system, I also sent emails to the address listed on their website on 9/18/21, 9/20/21, 9/21/21, 9/23/21, 9/25/21, and 9/27/21 asking for a call back. There was no response to my emails either. On 9/27/21, I called the number given on their voicemail for emergency tree service to see if anyone would pick up. Jocelin picked up and introduced herself. I gave her my name and said that I hadn't heard back from her and was requesting an update. The call disconnected before I could finish my sentence. I would like to be charitable and say that the signal was lost, but I know that she hung up on me. I tried calling back and the voicemail came on, so I left a voicemail asking for a call. Not surprisingly, I have heard nothing back since. While I don't normally try to contact a business everyday, I wanted to give them as much of a chance as possible to communicate with me and let me know what was going on. At no point did I express myself unprofessionally. I did let my landscaper know about my experience and he said that he would not be sending any more customers to Montoya Tree Service. Please stay away from Montoya Tree Service, they may say the right things, but the action and follow-through is not there. I don't want anyone else to have a similar experience.

Avoid Montoya - horrible service and follow-through. They were hired to trim trees bordering our property and our neighbor's...they did half of the agreed scope of work, left a couple of hours into the job and never returned. Numerous attempts to get them to finish the job have gone unanswered. Extremely unprofessional.

Great, they came by quickly with a quote from a abortionist. We scheduled a date for removal once we got their price, they came out quickly and did a great job on taking down a large tree.

I had an enormous elm tree in my backyard - beautiful tree, but it developed a large cavity across the trunk and was susceptible to toppling in a big storm, which made me nervous every time there were strong winds. The tree service I used to use, a national chain, quoted a surprising high removal fee. As a result, I shopped around and even though another firm came in lower, decided to use Montoya, who quoted far less than the original company. This removal required a crane, access to the neighbor's yard, removal of part of the fence, and a large flatbed to hall away the branches/trunk. They scheduled removal within a week, showed up on time and went to work - it was amazing to see how professional and competent they were, flying by cables in the tree. Arrived around 8:30am and were done around 1/1:30pm - and cleaned up so well it was difficult to tell they'd even been there. Came back a couple of months later to grind the stump - again, they did a very professional job. Was extremely impressed with the great work they did and would highly recommend.

This is our second time using Montoya. The first time, they trimmed our very mature willow trees after a bad storm (cost $1100). Frank is clearly a very knowledgeable arborist and used to work for the village I believe. He and his team came out to inspect our trees and took great care to trim both the willow and maple. The maple was so overgrown that it was shading the plants and grass below it and not allowing any sun to come through. It looks significantly better and has increased our curb appeal. We had also planned to cut down our crabapple tree as it had appeared to be dying. Little did we know, it was actually suffering from a fungus and Frank's team was able to come out and apply several treatments to it. It was the first time we had seen that tree flower in two years! What a nice surprise.

He removed 3 trees. I think the price was kind of high. One of the trees was pretty large. I had them out here twice, he cut down a total of 7 trees for me. He did a good job, the only problem I had was he was he was not careful enough, a large part of the tree hit the ground to hard and broke my sprinkler. I think maybe they should check with people to be a little more detailed on if there are sprinklers and thing. If the tree trunk hits to hard it will shatter things under ground. They are very efficient, and are careful on making sure they don't hit the house or any other structures.

No complaints. The guy who came to give the quote was great, the workers were great, the price was better than competitors. Would recommend and hire again without question.

They did a very good job and price was reasonable.

I have used Montoya twice now. Once to trim and another to remove a dead tree. They do a great job and know what they are doing.

They were very knowledgeable, on time and cleaned up so well that you could tell they were there except for the bit is mulch in the stump hole.

They came when they were supposed to, cleaned everything up and handled the entire transaction over the phone. Excellent service.

I am so impressed with them. It began with speaking to Kim, who was so helpful and courteous. Next Ralph came out for the estimate. He was GREAT! Very knowledgeable, and helpful. The guys came out took down the tree, and cleaned up. Perfection!

They did an excellent job. I need a rush on getting my stump ground out and they accommodated my request.

Overall the services were performed as promised. There was a week delay with removing the tree after it was cut down. After I notified Montoya of the delay they removed the chopped down tree a few days later.

Came on time, removed the tree, cut up part of it for use in fireplace at our request and ground out the stump.

After having several tree services come and give me a quote for the work I needed, Montoya Tree services came. A gentlemen named Ralph came explained in detail what needed to be done and the timeframe necessary. Their price was GREAT!!!! On the day of service they were on time and worked quickly and efficiently. They cleaned up the entire yard and left my property spotless. Two days later they returned and stumped the trees. The next day the large pieces of tree were removed. The greatest part of the experience was when I called and asked if several of the large pieces of The Ash tree could be cut into smaller pieces because several of my neighbors wanted to keep them and turn them into furniture. Not only did they do it, but the owner of the company showed up and cut them himself. His name was Javier Montoya. The entire experience was outstanding. This company will continue to get my business and all future referrals will also go to them.

They worked very carefully and diligently. They managed to cut the tree down to just slightly above ground level which we didn't think they would be able to do. They removed all logs and branches and left the yard totally clean. They checked to make sure there were no twigs left in the adjoining neighbor's yard. The work was excellent.

They did the work in a short amount of time, left the area looking clean and neat, and didn't charge much for the work.

Everything was fine. They did a good job. They filled the hole left in the ground as well. They were nice. It took them five hours. They were efficient and professional. They came out right away and when they said they were going to come out. They cleaned up all the mess after they were done. All the stumps were cleaned up; everything was left in good shape. I got a competitive bid for it.

Excellent service and professional removal. They even helped me with some grumpy neighbors. Absolutely recommend them and will use them again!

I wouldn't use them again, they were too expensive. They were fine, they cleaned up, but they weren't the best. They charged $2400 to take a tree down, it wasn't a very big tree, and it didn't take as long as they said it would. They said it would take a day and half, and the guys took just 4 hours. Nothing spectacular stood out. They are over priced, and their job was nothing out of the ordinary. They over quoted the price, and they overquoted the time.
