Skylight went on an addition to the house to open up the room and bring in light and air. The motorized unit works great. Solar powered. Rain sensor. Remote control that can be programmed to open and close at certain times. The attic fan went at the peak to ventilate the attic, replacing an old, non-functioning fan. All this was done in coordination with the roofing people (Avondale Roofing) so that things were installed and roofing laid down in the proper order and everything was sealed up tight. Houseworks did a great job and they will be back for another project next month to install Sun Tunnels for the bathrooms.

Ron the installer arrived a few minutes in advance of the scheduled appointment. Upon initial inspection it became apparent that we needed some additional shingles, as we did not have enough on hand. Thankfully we have a supplier near by and I was able to get the new shingles back to Ron by the time he had the old shingles removed. It was a cost saving measure for me to run out and pick up the two packs of shingles, but Ron did the heavy work of unloading them and getting them onto the roof. Upon further removal of the old shingles Ron not only discovered the error of the previous installers, but he also discovered a large hole and dry rot in the roof decking. Ron replaced the roof decking that had been compromised. Ron also took time to explain how and why he was doing certain things as part of the repair. There have been several rain storms since Ron came and repaired the two skylights and I am happy to say there have been no leaks! And because of the time that Ron took to explain things I am confident the job was done right! Thank you Houseworks Daylighting Solutions!

The whole process went pretty smoothly. I called the contractor and they were very punctual for the initial estimate, which I appreciated. I was in need of light in my kitchen as it was too dark. I was given some recommendations as to what would work on the space, which I'm very grateful for, because I had no clue what would look best. The work went just as well. The workers were very professional and left the work area very clean. I was very impressed by how organized they were and how well they worked as a group. I'm very happy with my the end result. My kitchen is now bright and beautiful thanks to the new skylight installed. Thanks guys, great job!

In the end we did a price comparison with an alternative contractor (also Velux recommended) who came in at a lower price and with an itemized quotation so we could more easily see what our possible options cost. Some options were ridiculously expensive for what they were !

Our provider did a great job for us. His discussion of what our options were in terms of material to cover the skylights as well as a good overview of the process. His execution was flawless in terms of being on time as well as being thorough (and safe) at such a height and the material has performed flawlessly.

From the time Mark, the salesman appeared, to the finish of the installation, everything went as perfect as possible. Mark was extremely beneficial and knowledgeable, giving me great suggestions and advice.The installers were professional, neat, clean. I was expecting to have a huge mess to clean up when the installation was complete. I WAS CERTAINLY WRONG. My house was as clean as before they came. Buff, the owner was very pleasant, helpful and courteous. I would highly recommend this business for skylight installation.

I first called Household Daylighting Solutions after finding out that they were rated EXCELLENT by Angie's list and also the Better Business Bureau for multiple years. My salesman (Jeff) was incredibly knowledgable about replacement Velux skylights, and he listed out the different options that were available to me. Later that same day, I received a written bid by email that spelled out exactly what I had been told to me over the phone regarding the price and options. In addition to that, I was immediately emailed a copy of their Certificate of Insurance with my estimate. (For anyone who has dealt with contractors in the past, and had a bad experience, you know how important it is to have their COI.) I believe that Household Daylighting Solutions is the first company that has ever voluntarily sent me this information without me having to ask for it! To me, that said a lot about how professional they were... and they did not disappoint. The installers came out shortly after I made my decision of what product I wanted to purchase. They called ahead of time on the day of their scheduled visit to tell me that they could come earlier than expected to double-check the measurements of my skylights. With everything confirmed, they returned to their office and I received a phone call telling me that the correct-sized product was in stock, and we set up a date for the install. The same installers returned and removed my old skylights and replaced them with beautiful solar-powered automated skylights with internal electronic blinds and rain sensors that close the skylights in the event of them getting wet. Phenomenal! They programmed the remote controls for the skylights, and the difference between the old and new product is monumental. The install was smooth and simple, and I don't expect to have any more water coming into my home from my skylights. If some unforeseen event happens that affects my new skylights, I know from the level of honest, good service that I received from Household Daylighting Solutions, that they will be here as quickly as possible to make sure that I am protected from any further water damage. It's great knowing that you can still find a company that takes such pride in their work and will deliver quick and excellent service when something as important as protecting your home from water damage is at stake. The people at Household Daylight Solutions treat your home as if it were one of their own homes, and they take the time to make sure everything is done correctly the first time. Had difficulty just getting a quote from Mark, then once received it wasn't as discussed. Decided to go with someone else who called back and showed up as scheduled.

Excellent work, very professional and clean. The price was good and so was the clean-up. The skylight looks beautiful. Would definitely recommend this company.

Competitive quote. The guys did a great job! The new skylights look fantastic - from both the inside and outside. The fitters worked through the job with no fuss (even breaking into song from time to time) and offered to finish off the inside with caulk as we weren't having painters in for some time. The finish looks smart, clean and enhances our house no end.

I received an estimate for 3 skylights that needed to be replaced in my home that I had just recently purchased. Mark was punctual, professional, and very personable. We received his quote that same day that he was at the house. He called us the next day to make sure that we received his quote and that we were able to open the attachment. Mark was very informative, he answered all of our questions, and he seemed to be very honest. We decided to go with another company because they would be doing other repairs to the roof as well as replace the skylights. I would consider Houseworks Daylighting Solutions in the future.

They did a great job. Very professional, top quality workmanship, and left everything clean when they were done.

The whole process went very well. We even waited a couple of months to write this review to insure we could say that the new skylight does not leak. We had a shade installed as part of the skylight and love it. They were able to use our current curb, so the installation was even less than quoted. We would use them again if we ever needed to have a skylight replaced.

On April 5th I called and spoke to Jeff, one of the owners, and indicated that I needed an estimate to replace some deck mounted skylights. He indicated that the salesman, Mark was off that day but would be calling me to set up an appointment to come out to my home. Mark called the following day and we scheduled the appointment for the 9th. Mark arrived a little early. He looked at the existing skylights and measured the pitch of the ceiling. I explained how the other owner, Buff, had been out 5 years ago to address a problem with the skylights which began leaking after a new roof was installed. It took a couple of visits, but they were able to stop the leaking so I thought I'd have them install my new lights. One of the skylights began leaking again this winter and I wanted to replace them rather than try to repair them again. Mark suggested that I replace the lights with Solar Venting Lights but he could not give me an estimate on the spot. He had to go back to the office to get the information. I asked him when I could expect to have the quote. He said that he usually was able to get the quote out the same evening but in this case it might take a little longer. It's been over 2 1/2 weeks but I never heard from Mark again. In the mean time I got a quote from a highly rated competitor on Angie's list and decided to accept their offer and schedule the project. I do not feel that I should have to track down the quote. If a company wants my business, they get back to me in a timely manner.

.The salesperson was prompt and knowledgeable about the Vellux skylight products that we wanted, as his company was an authorized Vellux dealer. They were able to install them the next week, which was important to us, as the current skylights leaked. The installation was quick, with no snags. I waited to post this review until after we had a hard rain, which we did last week. The windows did not leak at all and they look fine. I would recommend this company and product to others.

The whole process was easy and they did a great job. I would hire them again.

Scott from Houseworks Daylighting Solutions came out and did an assessment and provided us with an estimate, which was sent later that day via email. Follow up was provided via telephone (Jeff). Both were professional and friendly and great to work with. Jeff consulted with us as we had insurance appraisal for hail damage. Insurance company covered replacing our bubble type skylights with the same (plus some other repairs/ replacement). We used HDS's recommendation and upgraded to Velux skylights, which are more energy efficient. We also got 2 other estimates, and all 3 estimates were within $200 of each other. We chose HDS because of the education we got from them, and just a "gut" feeling that we felt better about them than the other 2 companies. Jeff even came out to our house the day the insurace appraiser came. From the time we contacted them to do the work(after we got the insurance check), we were scheduled within 5 calendar days later, adn the work was completed in a few hours. We ended up paying $1000 deductible, and insurance company covered the rest. 3 installers came out to perform the work, and they were great about cleaning up as well as doing the work. They did a quality job, and a follow-up telphone call with Jeff after the work was completed was another positive interaction.

I contacted two companies for a quote. I found that Houseworks Daylighting Solutions was very thorough in their initial assessment and went up on the roof to check it out (the other company did not), their price was much better than the other company for both the skylight and skylight blinds. They suggested I wait to install the blinds because they felt I would be so happy with the energy improvement of the skylight that I wouldn't need them and they were right. I appreciated that they discouraged me from spending money that I might not need to. The skylight installation went very quickly, they removed the old skylight and hauled it away and cleaned the area. We were very pleased with the process. They are a very professional group and everything went very well.

The guys at Houseworks really know skylights, are professional and easy to work with. Due to some electrical wiring that ran on a beam where the skylight was to be installed, the guys were able to offer a solution that we are very happy with and looks great. They were able to order the new skylights quickly and install the next week. The pricing is very reasonable and they use Velux, a top quality product. The left the room very clean when they left.

When the real installation took place, the installers were excellent, quick and exact in their work. Scott came to check out the windows to see that the job was done correctly. The windows have not leaked since installed in August. I would highly recommend this company.

Houseworks service and professionalism was incredible! We called to get an estimate on replacing our skylight and they were able to fit us in the same day to give us an estimate. Following the appointment, I had a quote from Jeff within 2 hours. The price was very reasonable and we moved forward with Houseworks. The installation was done the same week without any issues. We are very happy with our new skylight and would recommend Houseworks to anyone looking to replace their skylight.

Overall, the installers did a great job with the installation. The price was competitive, and the workers did a great job problem-solving the installation with our 100+ year old building. The "B's" for responsiveness and professionalism are due to problems they had coordinating with our roofers, and for communication on the finishing of the job. For the first issue, we needed this company needed to coordinate with our roofers on the installation. Our roofers recently did a tear off and installed a Duro-last singly ply membrane on the roof. This is not a typical roof, and required our roofers to do the roof component to maintain the warranty. There were a lot of communication problems between the two companies (and blame going back and forth over these communication issues), and I don't believe this company did an "A" level job in coordinating these issues. I also wish the company had been more clear that they don't finish the interior at the offset. They informed me that they didn't "finish" the interior, and I had the impression that meant the primer and some sanding; however, I was left to fill in gaps in the drywall, sand, and add edges to the drywall. I understand their rationale for not doing this, but I would have liked to have know the extent of work that would be necessary to finish at the offset. All-in-all, however, I would use this company again for installation of a skylight.

The proposal process went very smoothly. Because I live in a condominium, I had to obtain board approval before installation, and the company was very helpful with providing documentation for that process. Installation was completed when they said it would be. Installer was prompt and completed the project in a few hours. He worked hard to adjust the placement of the roof outlet to admit get it as high as possible to capture the sunlight. It wasn't very messy, but he did clean up when he was done. We have had no issues at all with the Sun Tunnels and they definitely add light to our home. I am planning to use this company again soon to install another Sun Tunnel.

I had storm and hail damage to my roof and skylights two years ago and my insurance company turned me down. I contacted this company to get an estimate to get the work fixed myself out of pocket. They ended up contacting the insurance company on my behalf and got them to give $14,000 towards getting my roof and skylights fixed. They told me they would handle it all. They fixed the skylights and brought in a roofing company to replace most of the roof. They are an excellent advocate and I would highly recommend them.
