Description of Work: I use Horticultural Services to do regular mowing and lawn maintenance for my yard. They come every three weeks, are reliable, and generally do a very good job of mowing and edging. They charge a flat fee to mow plus a per barrel fee to take away yard waste. I asked them for a proposal for landscaping work during the spring of 2013. I must have called during a busy time because the owner was extremely slow to get back to me. I followed up a couple times and still waited at least 3 weeks for a proposal. I ended up going with someone else for the landscaping because I was frustrated with the lack of responsiveness (even though their proposal was lower cost). That said, I continue to use them for my mowing and lawn maintenance. They do a good job and the price is reasonable.

Description of Work: Fall cleanup (we haven't been billed yet but I'm estimating) plus they do a spring cleanup for us, provide fertilizing and weed control thru the summer, and they mow on an "as needed" basis when we're away or unable to do it ourselves. Sometimes we're not on the same wavelength in terms of communication, but if I ask them to come to the house and discuss particular work with them, it works out ok. We've used them for several years and they don't require a contract. They have a schedule of services and basically charge $30 per man hour.

+ 2 moreIt went very well. Wade met with us and we went through everything we wanted done. Originally we were thinking of replacing our front walk because of settling and he instead recommended mudjacking to even out the parts that had settled and recommended another company that did the mudjacking. This saved us a lot of money; it looks great and they were done in one day (the mudjacking company is Atlas Concrete). He even came back and met with the village official to make sure we had no issues with the permit. The company did everything we had agreed they would do in a timely manner. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: They replaced part of our sidewalk with flagstones. Re-did and extended a drain in the backyard. Installed topsoil along the house to raise the grade where it had settled. Removed grass in front and re-graded and planted new sod.

+ 0 moreThe initial spring cleanup was nicely done and they arrived on schedule each week for the mowing. However, they moved some plants to an unsatisfactory location in order to not have to mow around them. Toward the end of the season we asked to have wood chips brought in to cover bare areas and we were told they couldn't get to it right away. When I called back to inquire about the status, I left a message and did not hear from them. Apparently we had a misunderstanding about leaf removal as well, because they did not come back to do this. We would only hire them again if we had a firm agreement about the services they are able to perform and the time frame they can offer.
Description of Work: Monthly lawn maintenance: mowing and edging. Spring cleanup and periodic fertilizing, trimming, weeding. Average $300 per month.
