Effective Air

I contacted Effective Air using their website form at 5:30 on a Thursday night. I received an email response the same night! The technicians came at 12:30 the following day and worked on the unit that was no longer cooling, checking the compressor and adding refrigerant. They also checked the other unit (the house has zoned A/C), cleaned both, taught me that it was better to use a cheaper filter (that allows better air flow) on the furnace and change it more frequently, sealed a vent that was leaking air and basically made sure that everything was working perfectly. Miguel and Josh were friendly, professional and a delight to work with. Outstanding customer service!!

Very well. They were all very professonal and provided additional helpful advice. The installers were able to hide the hoses for our split ductless a/c unit under the roof so they don't show. Everything looks great and the a/c unit they installed cools in minutes. Glad I chose them.

Effective Air was here for an annual service in January. They're very responsive when you have an emergency.

A few months ago we had a whole house water filtration system installed. The technicians were friendly and knowlagable and the office staff were friendly. Since the installation I feel comfortable knowing that not only the water I'm drinking, but event the water coming out of my shower is filtered. I know that chlorine and other chemicals put into water are needed to prevent the spread of bacteria, but I hated to think that I was drinking these harmful chemicals and almost worse, inhaling them while in the shower. The water tastes great and my skin feels amazing. I would highly reccomend a whole house water filtration system to everyone and make sure you get it installed by Effective Air, Inc.

At this time of year, they are really busy. They came out to install the new furnace within 4 days of our call. Actually, it was installed on the coldest day of the year so far. Everything went perfect. Their men came out at 8 a.m. and started to work right away. They were here all day. They were nice guys, very respectful and friendly. We have been working with Effective Air for about 17 years, off and on for various things in our house. I wouldn't use anyone else. They are top notch, and do excellent work.

The price is fair. They're really great. I love the guy that comes and checks the furnaces, his name is Gary, he's very professional and very thorough.

We had no heat from one furnace due to a squirrel shoving a black walnut pod in the exhaust pipe. They cut the pipe, removed the blockage and created a clean out so that if the pesty rodents start sticking black walnut pods in the pipes again, we won't be without heat for days. They also preformed the normal fall maintenance.

Effective Air installed a multi head mini split system. 7 indoor units driven by a single Mitsubishi mister slim out door unit. The installation team was extremely curtious and professional. We had immediate problems with one of the indoor units, Effective Air was diligent in resolving the issue. I'd highly recommend this company for heating and air needs.

Gary and all of the service men are very knowledgeable, neat and prompt. I have been dealing with Effective Air for over 25 years and I have recommended them to many people. They are just the best.

From beginning to end, this was an outstanding experience. Based on an independent home energy audit, we contacted Erik about several major recommendations in the audit report. He reviewed those before coming out and was well aware of the issues. He was extremely thorough in inspecting the systems, excellent at answering many, many questions and explaining alternatives, and clearly prioritized his recommendations in a detailed and totally comprehensible proposal. There were many phone calls back and forth as I absorbed all the details, and Erik was clear, professional and patient throughout. The work itself took three days, plus a planned follow-up visit, and the crew was excellent and expert. When issues were discovered during the course of the work, the situation was clearly explained and options were outlined. All of the work appeared to be high-quality and very thorough. While the cost of the work done certainly was not cheap, I asked someone familiar with HVAC work to review everything and was told that the estimate was very much in line. The one notable exception was for replacing my furnace and air conditioner. I asked for a quote on that so I could consider doing it at the same time, and the figures were very high. I opted not to have that work done. Overall, however, I was extremely pleased and would highly recommend Effective Air for such projects.

Bobby has been taking care of our heating and cooling system for 15 years, following us from our suburban home to our city home. I am so pleased that we are able to have the same person year after year. I trust his integrity and workmanship.

OMG.... I have had such a horrendous week. Today, my furnace igniter switch goes out. Today is only 35 degrees. I was like really? First I call Besco Air and they basically told me they could not come out today, Friday. Tomorrow is considered overtime for their employees, so I would be paying premium rates. The fee would be 105.00(house call) plus 150.00 an hour plus the cost of the product. If I waited until Monday, it would be regular rates of 80.00 (house call) plus 95.00 an our plus the cost of the product. The person that I spoke to really didn't have any enthusiasm in desiring to help me. He didn't make me feel at all comfortable or confident that Besco Air was the company for me to go with! So, I hung up and called Effective Air! OMG, I am sooooooooooo happy that I did. From the onset, the two people that I spoke to were great to talk with. You could tell they wanted my business and actually cared about wanting to help me! I was all ready for them to get me the same information about premium vs regular rates. To my surprise, they told me 129.00 (house visit) and a flat rate for the part with installation. They told me they could come to fix my furnace in 3.5 hours. About 10 minutes pass and bamm, I get a call that the repairman could be in my house in 30 minutes. WOW. Kerry came to my house and he was a breath of fresh air!!! He was extremely professional, attentive, and appeared to be very honest. He changed my igniter in about 20 minutes. He gets a great GOLD STAR from me for sure! I really hope that the company recognizes him because all employees like to be recognized and I am sure that he does not come on Angie's List to read the reviews! So, please recognize this individual. He was a great man for sure! I am extremely pleased with Effective Air because it was an OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!!!! Honestly, Kerry.... made my bad week good! Honestly... what a nice person! Jon who is one of the owners gets a big GOLD STAR too! His customer services was unbelievable and rated TOP NOTCH! Bobby came and was very quickly able to see that our furnace was running 100% normal. He arrived sooner than he said (this was an after-hours service call) and checked on my furnace and hot water heater. What compelled me to write a review was because he then spent about 45 minutes with me trying to figure out where the smell was coming from. He even got up on a ladder to check some wiring for me. This was obviously above and beyond what he had to do. Effective Air has installed 2 furnaces for me in the past. I'm glad to know they hire workers who are also caring people.

They responded quickly and fixed the problem. The prices were a little high, but they did a good job.

My boiler wasn't working. A friend had recommended Effective Air to me. I called and explained that when I turned up my thermostat, the boiler wasn't igniting. The person I talked to on the phone was very professional and pleasant. She asked me if I needed service today, and I answered yes if possible and that I had an elderly hospice patient at home, so that if it couldn't be fixed that day that I would have to make arrangements for them. She explained that it would be $129 just to come out and that repairs would be additional, but that I would be asked first before any work was done. I said that would be fine. She asked if she could call me back the same day after seeing what they had available. I said that would be fine. She called me back 15 minutes later to say that they had repairmen that had just finished another job in the area, and that they could be to my house in 15 minutes if that was O.K. I said that was terrific. Carlos and another gentleman( I unfortunately don't recall his name) arrived 15 minutes later. Carlos gave me his card, and he and his co-worker put on shoe covers and asked to see the boiler. I took them to the boiler and explained that it wasn't firing up. Ironically when we turned up the thermostat, it fired right up - But Carlos said he'd check it over. Thankfully he did because he found that there was no water pressure and there was probably a clogged pipe. He said I could call in a plumber, or could have him do the work. He said it could be up to $250 additional depending how much piping was clogged. I agreed for him to do the work. We figured out where the clog probably was because my hot water heater was working, so it had to be in a section of pipe from the boiler to a split in the waterline where it went to the water heater. Carlos found the clog and cleaned it out. It turned out to be only $125 extra. He also found a slow water leak in one of the pipes in the boiler, and suggested a safety device that would prevent the boiler from lighting if there wasn't enough water pressure. He said he'd have the office call me with the quotes for fixing the pipe and adding the safety device. The co-worker took a photo of the pipe so they could get an accurate quote for further work. Effective air staff were completely professional in every way. Carlos answered any questions I had so that I could understand. (I asked him some technical questions about how boilers work in general). They were great to deal with.

Effective was one of 3 providers we had look at our systems. We did not choose the cheapest option as they did not inspect the entire home for size/duct issues. The other firm was slighly less than Effective, and as thorough, but after we received the quote they took over a week to answer a simple follow up e-mail. Jon is not high pressure at all. He came out, pointed out issues, discussed different options and provided a detailed quote. As I was not home for the initial walk-through, when Jon called back to check in he offered to come out to the house again to review my questions in person. Although Jon offers options like 'germicidal lights' and higher end air cleaners, he did not push them, just explainced the pros/cons. He also quotes the 'basic' systems all the way up to the 'cadillac' of systems. As the house is almost 40 years old, and was a bit neglected, we had Jon use AeroSeal to seal the entire duct system. This was worth every penny as you can tell the difference in the velocity of the air coming out of some of the vents which before barely had any airflow. Also, in the unfinished area of the basement where ductwork is exposed, you cannot find one leak in the ducts. The sealing alone took 2 days. Jon's crew was then back for 4 more days of removing the old systems and isntalling new systems. Versus a simple replacment, they ran new gas lines, water lines for the humidifiers and drainage for the humidifiers. The new systems work perfectly and so far, the AC runs much less than the old units even though the new units are actually smaller. From many recent home repairs/remodels, Effective was really one of the best experiences.

They came out promptly to check on the A/C unit and informed me that it still had another 2 years or so, but that it might need to be replaced at that time.

I've had good experience with them. It costs me about $700 a year. I've been using them for eight years. They're very responsive when I call if I have any issues with the system. They're proactive about setting up of annual cleanings for the system. I had an issue with the way something was repaired but they took care of it right away.

One of our heating units failed for the second time in a month during a deep freeze. It was the first time we have had a problem with the unit in 6 years. It was more of an annoyance than a serious problem since that unit only heats about a fourth of the house. I called Effective to set up a repair appointment after having used Angies List to find a recommended company. After describing the problem in detail, the very professional gentleman I talked with took the time to do some general trouble-shooting with me over the phone. He told me the most likely cause was a clogged intake vent on the side of the house. He told me they would be glad to come fix it for me, but if I wanted to save the time and expense of a service call I should first clear the snow and ice off the intake vents. At first I couldn?t find the vent because it was covering in a huge snowdrift. After some quality time with snow shovel and broom the issue was resolved. I was very impressed that the gentleman at Effective took the time to help us with a problem and ?fix? it quickly, effectively, and at no charge. I have posted their info on the front of our heating and AC units to call in the future for maintenance and repair.
