He must have received the message, because he called and left a message for me. On it, he was very condescending toward me, and he said he would be out on Sept 13th, 14th, and the 17th to inspect the property, perform the preliminary power wash, and staining later. I took off work, had my son take off work to pick up items to make it easier for Dan Monkton, and then I waited. I waited for all three days, and did not receive a phone call, nor did anyone come out on the agreed upon dates. Dan Monckton has been totally, 100% unresponsive, abysmal customer service, awful follow-up, condescending, and the worst experience I have had with a contractor. I was appalled by my experience with him, especially considering he was so highly rated on Angie's List. Even more, common courtesy dictates that one calls and responds to a potential customer to whom a personal commitment has been made. My entire summer has been wasted, and I must now wait til the next.

Called and got estimate in several weeks. Took over 2 months and several emails and calls after accepting contract to get the work done. The crew is great, the work great, but they are so busy (so they say). Their communications is poor at time (had to wait a week for a return call on an email I sent). We have had the exterior painted by them earlier in the year. They do great work and clean up after themselves, but getting the job scheduled has been a chore at times.

Communications with company were excellent. Someone always answered the phone when I called. Received quote in writing quickly. I switched the paint color between returning the contract and having the work done--it was not a problem. Painter was unable to finish job in one day (due to humidity outside), but returned next business day to finish. Highly positive experience. Did have to wait several weeks to have the work scheduled (company was booked) but was told that up front.

We ordered an estimate and they respond with a day or two with a written estimate. We had several other estimates and decided to go with them. We scheduled the work for about 2-3 weeks out, due to other work. On the week they were to start, they said Thursday late they would be by. Thursday they called and said it would be changed to Friday. On Friday they called, apologized and stated it would be Monday of the next week, for sure (weather does cause exterior painting problems). Monday they came as scheduled and power washed the exterior. Tuesday they started painting and Wednesday they finished, right on the money. They had to do 2 coats on the exterior doors, but did not charge any additional money for that work. They left the site clean and finished.

Presented a thorough estimate for an extensive interior painting job and was very courteous. Pricing seemed fair and the representative definitely knew what he was talking about.

High quality work, responsiveness, came when promised and very neat.

It was the best quality exterior painting I've ever had done on a home. In the past, I've used different firms, some more expensive, some less, but Dan's crew did the best job I've ever had done. Their attention to detail and quality is superb. They meticulously power washed the entire home and loosened up the flaking areas. They then spent a few days scraping, sanding and priming those areas before painting. They also pointed out to me some rotted trim rather than just painting over it and moving on. I had it replaced by a carpenter and they adjusted their schedule to accommodate him. I also had some splits in some cedar siding but they advised me not to have those planks replaced. Rather, they caulked the splits, painted them and sealed everything up well, saving me quite a bit of money. In the end, the house looked the best it ever has, my landscaping was undisturbed, and the agreed upon price was honored. Next exterior paint job, I'm calling Dan Monckton!

Dans company did a very good job. They met their time frame and did quality work. In addition he did some custom painting that came up during the job. He was fair and forthright in our dealings. I would definitely use him again.

They did a prompt and thorough job and we were completely satisfied. They were especially good at cleaning up after each stage of the work.

Overall, Dan's crew did a very good job. They were able to work around problem areas that were tricky because of gutters, roof design, and landscaping. They had very good communications with me. I appreciated that they kept their promises on completion date and work quality and cleaned up well after the job. I have only very small complaints. There were a few spots where window sills have begun to flake after six months, and one replacement board was put on hastily and shows hammer marks. On a job of this size, though, I feel those were excusable errors. The flaking was easy to fix, and I would use them again.

Dan returned my call within a day and provided his original estimate in two days. He scheduled the work based on my schedule and arrived promptly at 8AM when he said he'd be there. He was thorough in protecting the adjacent areas and furniture. He said he would complete the job in one day and he did just that. He even loved my dog! I asked for and was given a price for some additional work (outside cleaning and painting of my cedar siding (replacement of two 4x8 T1 panels) and soffits (a much bigger job $3k). I will definitely use him for this work.

Mark was prompt and courteous. He seemed to have good suggestions for prepping some trouble areas and for the type of paint to use. His quote was reasonable. In the end, we decided to go with another provider with a lower quote.

After a bad start - of not returning my phone calls. I was hesitant to use this company but after reading the list they seemed like the company to go with. I am pleased that I did. I was given a day and on that day the crew arrived. Dan was constantly checking on the guys. His men did additional work that I did not ask for but the work made the final result more professional. His crew worked hard and cleaned up after they were finished. I am pleased with the result.

Courteous, on time, quick, and thorough. Flexible on when he came to the home to perform the service. Very pleased with the work.

They were great! Dan came right out and gave us a quote. His crew is professional and we couldn't be happier with their work. I highly recommend them.

Mark was responsive, polite and the price was fair. The work was started promptly as promised and well done. Two minor items were overlooked but Mark came back and took care of those the next day. They gave a 10% discount on their estimate for Angie's List. I am very satisfied with their work.

Company took my contact information and promised someone would call to set up a time for an estimate. They also said that in case no one called me back that I should call them again. No one ever called me back. Needless to say, I did not call them again.

On the whole, I was very pleased with the work. There were a few issues that needed attention at the end of the job. They painted splashes on woodwork, the frames were not painted along edges, and they left the room untidy over the weekend. However, I was very impressed with Dan Monckton's professionalism, attitude, and speed to put it right after he came to inspect the work. Especially as some drywall had to be re-done. These things happen, but they were more than happy to fix it quickly. The finished work all looks great. Kevin, the carpenter, did an outstanding job and was meticulous about his work. The painters were very nice and polite, although I had a change of painter mid job due to vacation. This is where I think things got missed, in the change over. Other than that, they were a good team. I would recommend their work and not hesitate to hire them again.

I accepted the bid over the phone. He told me at that time that he could not schedule the job, but would call me within 3 weeks to do, so when he could slip it in. Since this was a small job I accepted this. However, it has now been over 6 weeks and I never heard from anyone at this company again. I have now completed this work with another contractor.

They were slow to return my call, and their prices were significantly higher than the painter I hired.

I talked to 3 other painting companies and nobody else seemed to want to work through the scope in pricing and time frame. They were able to do all of those things so that was a good thing, and I was not put off for a long time.

I received a quote over the phone for a project. I scheduled a time for the wallpapering to be completed. Joel (in charge of wallpaper scheduling) rescheduled on me 3 times. I waited over a month for him to schedule a day to complete the work. I had to constantly call and hunt him down. He inconsistently returned phone calls. I have been so frustrated that I am moving on to someone else. This level of irresponsibility is appalling!

Mark came out to give the estimate; he was on time and very polite. Don is their wallpaper guy, he showed up for work 10 minutes early. I did not know it at the time, but the paper for the bottom did not have a matchable patern which means it might show lines; I saw none when he was done. I had new carpet installed the day before and he was very clean and careful and kept a cloth on the floor at all times. He was in and out in just about 4 hours; other estimates I had said it would take a day or two and cost twice as much. The tin-tile paper he hung looks like the real thing (actual tin). I have nothing but good things to say about the entire experience, from the quality to the best price I was quoted.

We have had good and bad experiences with painters over the years but this was the best. The crew did a great job preparing to paint with removing face plates, curtains, etc. and laying down tarps. We were especially impressed by Moe who was very detail oriented. The finished project looks excellent. We got several bids on this job and we found Dan Monckton to be competitive.
