Nick came out in just a couple days (despite their company being extremely busy at the time), and did a careful walk through with me, looking at each floor carefully, and honestly saying which areas needed repair for the floor's integrity, and which were just cosmetic and totally optional. He was honest, thorough, and really knew a lot about these old buildings and their wood floors. His team got right to work within a few days, and he himself came out every day to help his team because they were so busy and stretched thin at the time. They finished a whole day sooner than expected, which was wonderful because it gave us one more day to air it out before we had to move in. And I can't express how thrilled we are at the outcome! The floors look absolutely amazing!!!! Where the carpeting was, the floors were sanded down (one room had to be fully replaced), and he mixed up a color of stain that was so incredibly close to the existing color (who knows how old it is, and in what way it's faded over the years) that it looks nearly seamless at every transition. The color is absolutely beautiful, the finish is smooth and even, and the polyurethane coatings will protect the floors beautifully from spills/scratches that will inevitably come from our small kids. He even took the time to answer all my questions very quickly, within hours, never had to wait days for a reply. He recommended how to care for the floors to keep them in good shape going forward, and suggested a buff every 5 years to greatly lengthen how long it takes before they need refinishing. Outstanding quality work, very personable and friendly, always wore a mask during this time of COVID, always on time, and finished a bit sooner than estimated. I can't recommend Nick, and his company Accurate Flooring, more highly!!!
Description of Work: We recently bought our first home, a condo in a 1920s brick building in Chicago. The floors were scraped up from a few years of student renters, and yucky carpet covered the bedroom floors. We pulled up the carpet ourselves, and knew the wood floors we revealed needed some major help. One room was in such bad shape the wood needed replacing entirely. There were also multiple rooms where the old cast iron radiators had leaked over years, and rotted out the wood underneath them.

We purchased a Chicago brick 3-flat building (built in 1918) with large 1800 sq. ft. 3-bedroom units. 2 of the units were full of wall to wall carpeting -- 3 bedrooms, large formal dining room, large living room, and hallway. Pulling out all of the carpet revealed hardwood floors that were not what we expected. They were very very red in color, and looked/felt really rough - lot s of dark spots and cracked/broken boards here and there. I had my doubts that the floors could be nice, much less spectacular. Enter Nick Vlad. According to Nick, the red color was due to the varnish that was applied to the floors decades ago. The good news was that there was plenty of wood under the varnish. The bad news was that it would take a lot of sanding discs to work through the thick varnish and get down to the beautifully preserved wood underneath. The floors needed repair work, especially around the radiator pipes where water damage over the years was clearly on display. Nick was confident that the floors would turn out beautifully -- and wow was he right. Nick and a helper spent 2 days in each unit. When I walked in after all work was done I couldn't believe the transformation. The floors were/are gorgeous. Stunning. They look as though we put in brand new flooring. You can really see the grain/striation of the wood - very unique looking. And they feel GREAT on bare feet. Nick was very easy to work with -- showed up on time to take measurements and get me an estimate, was very professional and conscientious. He's very knowledgeable about all things wood floors and refinishing. We are going to hire him again to deal with the floors in our apartment including removing linoleum flooring in our kitchen and refinishing the maple underneath. We're excited to work with Nick again and are confident he'll make the floors in our home simply gleam.

The work is beautiful. The price was very reasonable. We actually asked them to use wood that we had pulled up and they were fine with it. Some people would not be, but he was great. They were so good about what they were doing. The owner was not there when they started and when he came in he realized that they hadn't laid it the way he wanted them to, and he made them take is up and do it over. So he had a good eye for detail.
Description of Work: Accurate Floor Refinishing did our floors. We had them refinish our floors and then we had them lay new floors.

.My daughter sent us pictures and said that when she first walked in she thought the lights were still on it was so bright compared to the way it was. There was very little dust and the floors looked great.
Description of Work: Needed oak floors sanded, about 600 SQFT. The floors had been stained a dark walnut and had almost no finish remaining. There were several boards that needed to be replaced and Nick included the replacement of several boards in the estimate and indicated that additional boards would be charged at $15 per board.
