La Fitness - Glendale Heights

I have been a member for years. I used to be a member before they took over Bally. My grandfather was also a member. It?s close and it?s convenient. They know anyone in Illinois. It would be better if they have enough supply because sometimes they are out of supplies and their maintenance needs to be done more timely. But overall, they are okay. They are average. The price is okay.

Good - The facility has plenty of machine weights for beginners and plenty of treadmills and ellipticals for the cardio lovers. - The locker rooms are a good size and adequate for the facility - The Free weights and Barbell areas are adequate for the size of this place in the morning and afternoon only. - They have a Pool and Spa amenities - Plenty of Free Parking - Indoor Basketball courts, Racquet Ball, cycling, instructor taught classes, and a smoothie bar $$. Bad - Poor Customer Service, I noticed the majority of employees are there just to sign up new members . - Not Guest Friendly, I brought a friend who worked out at another gym but forgot my guest pass that I printed on my computer at home. The customer service employee contacted a sales person and I was advised that if my guest was not signing up that there would be a $15.00 a day fee to use the gym. I asked the La Fitness employees to show me some courtesy being a member and print one out for me but they would not hear it. I felt so embarrassed and had to leave with my buddy. Funny part , we ended up going to his gym that was nearby and I signed in and was one my way within 15 seconds of arriving. The staff even said to stop by if I wanted more information about signing up. To bad I signed a contract. - I know it is a business but customer service is in limbo, so sad - To get a good deal, you will have to pay out of pocket and sign a contract. - Not 24 hrs - For the size of the Facility, Peak hours of operation make the gym overcrowded and getting a good workout is difficult because they only have enough equipment for the amount of people, specially in the evening. - The Facility needs to expand because it has lots of members and the parking lot 5x bigger then the gym

Staff is friendly. Membership is one of the cheapest around, but the facility itself isnt kept very clean. I'll return because of my membership but i'll shop around when its renewal time.

Not a bad place, need to work on keeping it clean.

Classes are varied and challenging. The times are generally convenient. Instructors vary with each class and quality of instructors do fluctuate. some classes, such as Zumba, can get impossibly crowded.

I paid the cancellation fee. They were just very pushy. They did not care about my needs just very sales oriented. It was a high pressure environment and not a family oriented environment. I asked for a call back at one point for more information, and they did not call me back; I had to call them back.

They are close to my house and they aren't expensive. The equipment is all a bit older but I think it's going to get remodeled this summer. They just got bought out and it became in a LA fitness.
