+ -1 moreThis was a huge job including design, demolition and rebuilding, working around and with the roofers, making the fancy spindles (which saved us quite a bit of money over ordering them from a mill) and "putting the porch together," which included adding a lot of new detail to the porch itself, to the front steps and to the bay window. The proportions of the detail to the porch and the porch to the house are perfect. As one admiring neighbor put it when we told him how carefully we'd planned the porch -- "Well, you nailed it!" Another friend took a bike ride over to see the porch and said, "This doesn't improve just your house. It changes the entire block!" In short, very beautifully designed and very well constructed. We are the lucky recipients of a gifted craftsman's careful work. And not just worth every penny; we think we got a bargain! Michael/Creative Solutions, Inc. is the perfect choice for those who want to take the time to do it right.
Description of Work: Michael met with us at length several times to discuss the renovation of our 100-year-old house's deteriorated front porch, patiently soliciting our ideas on the design and asking us for books, photos and local porches that fit what we hoped to have. He stood with us in front of the house studying its detail and explaining how the porch should relate to all of that. He prepared a drawing of his porch design based on our discussions. It is a very elegant design, and we love it, as do all of our neighbors. Everyone who passes the house when we're outside remarks enthusiastically on the beautiful porch. A complete transformation. I am sure that our house never looked better than it does now. Michael and assistants took down the original porch, prepared the roof for the roofing company to replace with a tile roof, redid the foundation for the brick supports, replaced all the support lumber, made the spindles, and then, put the whole thing together. All painting included.
