Purchased a home that was sitting vacant for 2 years. Victor general contracted the work spanning plumbing/sewer, electrical, HVAC, patch/paint, etc... They handled the challenging job well. Victor is honest and reliable. He continues to support the odds and ends that come up from time to time. Highly recommended--particularly for larger home projects.

Overall, it went way smoother than I thought it would! The gutting was done when we were out of town, but the mess was managable (even for a neat freak). Victor was very organized, and gave me a heads up when each deadline was due. He is not a designer, so you have to know what you want in terms of style, tiles, picking out fixtures, etc, but he does have good ideas. His guys arrived on time each day and were very courteous. The thing I liked best about working with Preferred Home Improvement was that Victor was very involved with the day to day, and responsive when there were any issues or things I was not completely happy with. You can tell he cares about the quaity of his work, the reputation of this company, and keeping his clients happy. We are super-pleased with our new bathroom!

I had 2 bathrooms and the laundry room remodeled and I am completely satisfied with the result. Victor made it very easy for me. He guided me through every step of the process. He made good and helpful recommendations. The crew was very professional. The work was done in a very timely manner. Their quality of work is excellent. I highly recommend him and his team to anyone.

Victor exceeded our expectations and his team was highly skilled and dedicated to their craft. Victor challenged some of the design ideas and ensured that all work was done to code. Excellent project manager, ensured all supplies needed are ordered and delivered when needed and we experienced no delays what so ever. I look forward to working with him on next project.

I met with Victor, who was prompt and professional. He listened to what I wanted, advised me when I was going a little too HGTV over the top, and came up with great ideas I loved. Just a few days after his visit, Victor provided me with a very thorough and complete estimate, which was extremely reasonable. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances I cannot remodel at this time, but I highly recommend Preferred Home Improvement & Builders Inc.

They couldn't do what we wanted them to do and it was really expensive, but they were lovely people. They were very nice. They were very prompt and they came out when they said they would. The guy was very nice, he looked at the situation, he saw the problem, he explained the problem and then told us how much it would be. We said thank you so much because we didn't think it would be that much money. He was very honest. He could have told us something but he was a nice guy.

Victor and his crew were wonderful to work with, very personable, professional and listed to my thoughts to help me choose the best options for my remodel. This remodel was for the purchase of my first condo. Being novice to this process, the team made it very for me. The team worked hard and created a wonderful finished product. I love it! The job was done in the expected timeline, which was also very quick. I would recommend using their services and I will use them again for any future projects. We were so impressed with the professionalism and quality of Victor's work. We contacted several contractors to bid for our Kitchen and first floor remodeling project and were so glad we chose Preferred Home Improvement. We have had experiences in the past with unpleasant surprises in cost increases and quality issues but with Victor he had the opposite. He delivered on everything he offered- on budget, on time and superb quality work. From the beginning of the process, he was very direct about costs and was very helpful but also patient in helping us scope the final project. He has years of experience and is very knowledgable technically as well as about design trends- it made the process of remodeling our kitchen very smooth. He is committed to doing work of the highest quality and making sure the customer is left satisfied. He visited the job site daily and his staff did an excellent job. Any concern we had, Victor would be available immediately, and not tell us what we wanted to hear but was very honest and helpful in finding alternate solutions to some of the limitations in our older house. You can tell that Victor is passionate about what he does and puts a great deal of care into his craft. We are very satisfied in the work he did and would highly recommend him to anyone.

Victor was phenomenal on this project and we can't wait for our next project so we can hire him again. We went through about 5 or 6 contractors and none of them clicked between either too hard a sales pitch or not listening or just being weird. Victor was well priced and explained things very well to us - we paid more on a few things, which he explained the reasoning for, and we paid less on a few things, which he explained the reasoning for -- and it all ended up creating an absolutely gorgeous bathroom. It should also be mentioned that we had to run new electrical and plumbing from the basement to a third floor where none had existed before, so this was a technical project - again, Victor did a great job. Completely recommend him without reservation ---

The contractor and his crew were excellent. They were always responsive to my questions and/or issues. When dealing with an old house, there are always unexpected glitches. I was always informed when any arose and together these were resolved satisfactorily. For example, after the contract was over, I decided I really wanted a new outside door which was between the kitchen and bath. After it was installed by a third party, the contractor performed some touch ups for me at no additional charge.

I am SO thrilled with the work Victor and his "main men," Peter and David, did on our home. We have lived in this house since 1992 and had never remodeled on the inside so things were in a sad state. After FIVE YEARS of looking, my father (bless him) down in College Station, TX, looked on Angie's List and found Victor and Preferred Home Improvement and Builders. He even traveled here (and missed my mom's birthday!!!) to meet with Victor and get his bid. Needless to say, both of us were very impressed with Victor and his professionalism and, yes, emotional intelligence. He was the first remodeler--in five years of looking--that didn't freak me out, for a variety of reasons. We did agree (after talking to a couple of other people) that Victor was The Man and signed the contract. Am I glad we did! Within a few weeks, (yes, not months and months), everything was done and so beautiful! When my youngest daughter was here for Christmas this year, she (who hadn't seen the kitchen since the "bad old days") was so blown away she commented every time she went into the kitchen "it's so beautiful!" But Victor's talents go beyond the actual work (which is superlative.) His guys were always here on time and work was always done perfectly by the time they were finished. Everything was tidied up at the end of the work day and I was informed very precisely as to what to expect the following day, and then he always followed through. Always. In addition to his talent for coordination of his army of talented construction guys, Victor has a fine eye for beauty. He is not just a remodeler; he is an artist. He knows what's going to look good and is not afraid to give his opinion; at the same time, he always wanted me to be the decision-maker about details that would potentially drive someone crazy if the "right" decision weren't made, like which handles to use on the kitchen cabinets. I was able to choose what I wanted, which of course adds to my enjoyment now of my new kitchen. I'm still in awe of what an easy experience this remodeling was and how much I'm enjoying everything Victor and his team did. In fact, I'm hoping with all my heart that I can do MORE remodeling with Victor at the helm--and am even ready to do something as major as adding on a room! But ONLY if Preferred Home Improvement is the contractor ...

We couldn't be happier with the design, quality of work and attention to detail that Victor and his staff provided. We had many bids for the updates we wanted but Victor seemed the most realistic about the costs and any potential unknown costs based on what they'd find once walls were removed to redo the kitchen. While we'd get a "don't worry" attitude from others, Victor told us up front about any uncertainties we might encounter. In the end, some of our fears were realized but others were avoided. Anytime there was an issue, Victor gave us multiple options on how to handle it and provided his advice on how he'd do it if it were his house, which is the best advice one can get if you're not experienced in doing this type of work. He also guided us to know where we could save on costs and where we'd be disappointed if we didn't go for the higher quality/higher cost options. This really paid off in the kitchen design, where his advice about island counter size, the quality of cabinets and hardware, the choice of granite and back splash made us go with higher cost options that we now couldn't be happier with and probably would be disappointed in had we not done so. For other areas, he would give us honest feedback where he thought we might be wasting money if we chose a particular option. I think it helps that Victor lives in the area, knows the neighborhoods and deals often with individuals who manage city codes and permits. His crews were all nice, pleasant and were very accommodating to our schedule as we remained living in the house while the construction progressed. Victor was in touch all the time and told us when certain decisions on our part were urgent and could hold up work and where we had more time before a decision was required. Anytime we had a concern about an issue, Victor fixed it to our satisfaction. This even happened months after the work when we'd notice that a cabinet door wasn't closing correctly or there was a scratch on the granite we hadn't noticed. While I assume a larger firm would have told us that we'd already signed off on the work, Victor would tell us that he "wanted it to be right", which he said many times about every aspect of the work being done. This is something that any busy couple would appreciate when a few weeks go by without having the time to inspect every inch of one's house. We could not recommend Preferred Home Improvement more highly and there are many more positive statements we could make but this would go on too long. I guess the best testament to how we feel is that after completion of the main work, we were so impressed that we went ahead with additional upgrades earlier than planned and also plan to hire Victor's firm in a year or so for other updates we intend to do.

Everything went very well. Victor listened to our needs and performed them exactly as requested. We highly recommend the company.

Victor opened up a wall in my home creating better flow through out the house. His team was very clean, professional, and worked hard during this process. They had to match my wood floors where the wall was opened and you cannot even tell the difference between the new wood and original floor. Victor kept me appraised about what would happen daily and he even finished the job a day earlier than expected. i would highly recommend him and will use him again.

Victor the owner of this company knows what he is doing. I have used him for about 20 years on various projects ranging from remodeling to building a new house. We have used a lot of different contractors over the past 30 years. In the Chicago are we will never use anyone but Preferred Home Improvement. Even with our experience of doing many projects, something will always go not the way you planned. When you get into that argument with the contractor, you want to know the person on the other side knows his business, and cares about you as a customer. Victor always knows how to resolve any problem. It never gets to an argument as Victor truly cares that we are a satisfied customer. It takes a person with experience, having seen just about any problem that may come up. It also take a person that takes his profession seriously with great ethics to be able to make sure the job comes out right. Building is a difficult profession - neighbors can complain, the city can stop a job if the builder is not paying attention to the details, products cannot be on the site on time if they are not ordered on time. Just one shower valve can hold up an entire job by pushing back the wallboard, tile and finishing work. It is all about attention to detail, and Victor will be at the site nearly every day to insure all goes as planned. He has always started and finished on time! Obviously quality is important. Our first Job with Victor about 20 years ago was a second floor addition. It has never had anything need repair. I write this review as I think you cannot go wrong with Victor and we have had such bad experiences in the past with other builders, I like to promote someone who I know will do a good job.

Preferred Home Improvement finished my basement. They designed the plans and worked with us to meet our specifications and particular needs. They did the drywall, plumbing, electric, painting, carpeting, lights....everything. The workers were courteous and did not leave a mess in my house. They were respectful of our budget. They followed up after the job was completed to check on the details. The basement is fantastic and my family loves it. They were terrific and I will definitely use them for my next home project. I recommend them highly.

Fast and without major surprises. The nice thing about Preferred Home Improvement & Builders is the personal touch and every day involvement of the owner - Victor. Hi is very well organized individual with years of experience and great list of working partners from the architects and designers to the final cleaning service. We were positively surprised how well, and fast our project went from the improvement idea to the actual change of our home and our life.

We interviewed several potential builders for this project and chose Victor during our initial meeting. My husband and I planned on being extremely hands on during the build and needed to find someone that we felt comfortable working along side. We also wanted an open channel of communication and high level of transparency that Victor offered from our first meeting. Victor walked us through every step of the way, from the permits and the architect to the finishes and the landscaping. We have been living in our new home for almost a year now and continue to have a great relationship with Victor. He makes himself accessible at all times, whether it be to answer a question or come over at a moment's notice. We are thrilled with the quality craftsmanship of our home and the beauty of all of the architectural details Victor contributed. We receive nothing but compliments and would highly recommend Preferred Home Improvements and Builders to all of our family and friends.

The work wa doen on time and within budget.

We were in a tough spot because our house is very old and although cost is always a concern we were more interested in getting the job done right as well as having it tailored a bit to our wants. Often times contractors don't want to touch projects like this unless it's a complete house remodel, extensive or extremely expensive. Preferred (Vic) and his crew took the time to understand the work to be done along with some of the old house nuances (it's never ideal with an old house), did everything to code and still nailed the budget. We couldn't be happier after a year with our new bathroom and hope to continue with several remodeling projects shortly and will reach out to preferred first.
