Description of Work: They replated two candlesticks and relined my beloved copper cookware with a beautiful silverplate. I am so happy with the results. It wasn't cheap, but it was much less expensive than replacing with lower-quality new items.

Description of Work: After several tries by another locksmith to get my door knob to work (it was intermittently locking us out),I decided to try a different locksmith. International came out and the door was working fine. He told me to call him when the door wasn't working again. He came over two days later on his lunch hour and fixed the door (hurray). He actually took the knob out and oiled it and also carved out the hole in the strike plate. He did the right things and got the job done properly. Also he warranteed that it would work for me or he would come out again. I had called many other locksmiths and got all kinds of answers (like buy a new solid brass knob for 160 plus 75 for installlation), move the strike plate, etc.) They really understood how locks work and what to look for and I learned more about these kind of locks than I wanted to know in the process of locating them.

 + -1 moreAnother vendor had installed three new doors, with 6 locks, in connection with remodeling a sun room and adding a shed. We wanted the locks fixed so that all would operate with the same key that opens the locks on our old doors, so we wouldn't have to carry so many keys. Turns out that the old Williamsburg-style deadlock on our front door required a cylinders that was not compatible with the locks on the new doors. Fortunately, the two other doors could take replacement cylinders that would work with the same key as the new locks. So now we will have to carry two keys, but at least we will never need to use two different keys to gain access.
Description of Work: Change cylinder on two locks and rekey six other locks so that all will work with the same key.

 + -1 moreWHEN OUR DOOR WAS REFINISHED, THE LOCK GOT BROKEN. WE COULD FIND NO ONE LOCAL TO FIX IT. ALSO THE BRASS HAD BECOME VERY TARNISHED. WE SENT THE LOCK FROM FLORIDA TO CHICAGO. IT WAS REPAIRED IN A TIMELY MANNER AND WHEN REFINISHING WAS DONE, THE COMPANY TOLD US THAT PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS HAD RESULTED IN THE EXCESSIVE TARNISHING. THEY FIXED EVERYTHING PERFECTLY AND ALSO TOLD US HOW TO PRESERVE THE HARDWARE (PERIODICALLY USE CAR WAX ON IT TO PROTECT IT.) THE LOCK WAS REINSTALLED AND WORKS PERFECTLY.
Description of Work: REPAIRED AND REFINISHED SET OF BRASS ORNATE DOOR LOCKS AND PLATES, WHICH HAD BEEN GUARANTEED FOR LIFE BY SCHLAGE LOCK. THEY COULD NOT FIX IT NOR GIVE US AN EXACT DUPLICATE, SO THAT IT WOULD MATCH THE HOLES ALREADY IN OUR SOLID WOOD CARVED DOORS THAT HAD BEEN BORED IN IT FOR THE ORIGINAL LOCK SET.
