My in sink disposer stopped functioning, and based on Angie's list reviews, I called Mr. O'Connell. He recommended I buy a replacement and then he would install it. This worked out great!!! I saved money, and he was outstanding. Afterwards, I asked him about several other plumbing issues, and he spent 45 minutes giving me his professional opinion and helping me understand my house plimbing. He really went above and beyond, and I am going to hire him to replace my water heater next. Clearly he knows what he is doing, and he is not out to rip people off. I highly recommend him!!!

My kitchen drain backed up whenever I ran the dishwasher, washer or just ran the water for too long. I emailed John (via Angie's List) yesterday morning and before lunch I got a response and had an appointment set for later that evening. John arrived on time and was great. He is very friendly and professional. He used a drop-cloth so the floors wouldn't get dirty and cleaned everything up after he fixed the problem. We even chatted a bit about how to prevent another clog. Overall, I am very pleased with him and the work he did. He is a very nice man with reasonable prices and I would (and will) recommend him to anyone who needs plumbing done. Thanks John!

Mr. O'Connell inspected the problem and explained the solution to us and gave us a written estimate for the work. We asked him to finish the job for us and he was wonderful. Very helpful and showed up on time and finished the work in a time that was given to us. We will recommend him to our friends and neighboors.

We weren't getting hot water in the upstairs shower. On John's first visit, he examined the problem and gave me two additional solutions in case replacing the cartridge wouldn't work. He gave an estimate for each of the solutions and allowed me time to think it over. I contacted him a few days later to come back to do the work. He was available right away and had hot water flowing within 20 minutes. As it turned out, it was the cartridge after all and therefore the least expensive of the solutions. John was very prompt, super friendly and professional. It was like having your favorite uncle come over to fix your plumbing. When I saw that John was featured in the super service spotlight in the November 2011 toilet issue of the Magazine, I couldn't think of anyone who deserved it more.

We were very pleased with his work. The problem was a section of the sewer pipe that was under an area of the front garden between our front porch and the front walkway. He laid large sheets of plywood on the ground all around the area that he was digging in and piled the dirt on the plywood. He dug down about 5 feet by hand. When he was done, there was very minimal disruption to my garden and walkway. He finished the job in one day. He was very respectful of our property and thus we will have very little restoration work. He also took photos of the exposed sewer pipe and repair so that if there is ever a future problem we can review the photos of what was done.

John was contacted Memorial Day morning and was able to come out and replace the hot and cold water sillcocks for our washing machine that same evening. John did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. John is a very friendly person, and we are planning to have him back to address existing and future plumbing projects.

Everything went well. They were very professional, and I was impressed.

His cost was about the same as his estimate, so I think it was a fair job. He cleaned up the bathroom after wards and did a fine job with the repair. I would use him again for another repair.

John was easy to get in touch with and was able to do the work within the same week which worked out great. He arrived early on Saturday morning and was done pretty quickly with both jobs. He explained things to me and answered other plumbing questions that I had. I will definitely be keeping his business card as I just found my new plumber! i'm very happy! Good tradespeople are hard to find.

We wanted to have our 19 year old hot water heater replaced before it died on us and replaced the existing shower hardware in our master bathroom. John came out to look at the existing hot water heater set up and then purchased a new one for us that afternoon. He came back the next morning with his son Chris to install it. They were on time, professional, and easy to work with. Unfortunately, we did not have the new shower hardware ready when John was at our house for the hot water heater, so he came back a few days later. He was on time (few minutes early actually) and got right to work. He determined we needed a different handle for the shower to work, so he went to the supply store and picked it up to finish the job. He worked quickly and everything looks great. We've used John a few times in the past (replacing some clogged pipe and rodding main pipe to the street) and will continue to call him for any of our plumbing needs. He's a nice guy, very helpful with explaining things, and easy to work with.

They showed up on time and got to work. The two men did different tasks where they could. They got right to work; were curtious, and kept each work area as clean as they could. Both answered questions and explained things they felt should be described. They cleaned up completely, when they were done, and then asked if I had any questions. John made the point that he would stand behind his work if anything went wrong.

He offered many different solutions based on how much we would want to spend. He came on time to the job (8 am). John did the pipes in the basement and another guy did the pipes under the kitchen sink. They were done that afternoon. We were responsible for disposing of the old pipes. They cleaned up the areas and left them very clean. Very pleasant and professional. So far no problems and no smell!

John was very easy to work with and took the time to explain any issues and addressed all of our questions. His costs were very resonable. Overall it was very good experience.

After moving into a Glen Ellyn home, we smelled a gas leak. Nicor came and turned off the gas, but it left our cooktop disconnected. John has extensive gas experience. He came and fixed the leak, and now we're cooking again! John was very responsive, knowledgeable and polite. We will definitely call him again.

He is the nicest Irish guy you would ever meet. He was very pleasant and prompt, and he came out right away. The replacement of the toilet cost me $299. He actually came out again because it started to get loose when you sat on it - he caulked underneath it to make sure it didn?t wallow. He did that for free. I didn?t get extensive work done but I was happy with the price. In terms of the garbage disposal unit and the water filters, he looked at them. It was hard to get to the parts underneath the sink. To do both, with the parts, it cost me $450. We talked politics, and even though we might have had a slight difference in political talk, it was fun to have him here.
