Ed was amazing! His work completely transformed our family room and exceeded my expectations. He was very timely in every response and prompt each and every time he came to my home. He was always friendly and minimized the disruption in the house. He was very upfront with his schedule and the timing of the work. I was never left guessing when the installation would occur or how long it would take. He worked with us to design exactly the cabinets that we wanted, down to the smallest detail. Ed was awesome! I found him here on Angie's List and I'm so glad we did. The process began with him coming to our house to look at space where we wanted the built-ins. He provided us a price via email a couple days later as promised. We scheduled the work and it was completed in the timeline Ed had said. Ed was always on time, responsive and very professional. Our built-ins are beautiful and worth every penny!

He was very prompt in his reply to my inquiry on whether or not he could build a custom table for us. He took a look at the sketch and came out to take a look at the space we wanted it in. He talked with me about what I was looking for. He is a local business owner, polished and professional. He brought the sketch I had to life with the most beautiful craftsmanship. It works perfectly for our everyday lives and it is our primary gathering space in the house. I would highly recommend Ed for his woodworking skills. I looked into about 8 other companies for the job and Ed had great pricing for the quality of service he provided.

He was very responsive and punctual. He was friendly when he came out to measure the space and prompt in sending us an estimate. He provided several options and price points so that we could tailor the work to be more budget friendly. While my husband and I decided not to move forward with this project at this time, we would not hesitate to contact Ed in the future.

I am more than pleased with the work performed. Ed converted my vision to reality. My home was built in 1926 and as a result left little to closet space. As a result of previous remodeling, this space was left unfinished. The bedroom is quite small and having a built-in dresser and hanging closet space makes it more livable. From start to finish Ed performed as outlined, on time and to specifications. I would highly recommend Ed.

Very professional and timely. Let us know when he would be arriving each day and what work was to be accomplished. Very clean and organized, never left a mess in our home that caused us to have to alternate our daily life or look at an eyesore during the project. We would recommend Ed Dolan for any home carpentry. Like many others in the Wheaton/Glen Ellyn area, we had some water issues this spring and as a result have dealt with several contractors in the past 3 months. Ed was clearly the best of the lot. In our experience with Ed, he was punctual, courteous, very knowledgeable and did exactly what he said he was going to do. Communication back to us was always very prompt. Our family room cabinets turned out great. We will definitely ask Ed about any future carpentry projects.

We met with Ed to discuss our ideas around a built in media center in our living room. He proposed additional ideas and eventually sketched them out for us. We liked his vision for the space and decided to hire him. He was professional, courteous, and his craftsmanship was excellent. If he was in doubt about some aspect of the job, he would always consult us before moving forward. When we suggested a change to the finished unit, he made the additions over the next day. While he was building the cabinet in our living room, we asked him to also provide an estimate for a locker system in our mud room. The price was fair for the amount of work and we contracted him to do that work as well. Both pieces are wonderful additons to our house and we couldn't be happier. Ed's skill and craftsmanship are top notch and we hope to have additional projects in our house to have him build. Highly recommended.

Mr. Dolan was prompt in returning my call and came out as scheduled. He looked at the area I needed work done and said he'd get back to me with an estimate. When he did get back to me the price that he was going to charge was $115 more than the other estimate I received so I did not end up using him.

Ed arrived at the expected time each of the three days he worked on the house and he was industrious and thorough. He is the nicest guy, soft spoken with a sense of humor and easy to talk to. He listens to the customer's questions and suggestions and fully explains his plans and expectations. All the work was done quickly, but with incredible attention to detail. The cover for the electrical panel is so well conceived that it exceeded our expectations. He left the house clean upon completion. I found his price very reasonable for the contracted work and am more than pleased with the finished product. I would not hesitate to recommend him and would happily hire him for further jobs.

Ed responded immediately to my email even though he was out of town. He was very thorough and asked to see the location of the vanity so he could get a better idea on how to build it. He stayed in contact with me, made several suggestions on design and provided a quote within 3 days. His quote was a little high for a piece of furniture that will be used for my son, so I decided to scrap the idea altogether. I think for my use, a mass-manufactured item will best suit my needs and budget. We are still in discussion for him to build my linen closets. There are several factors that will impact my decision (timing, my budget), none of which are under Ed's control. I hope we get to work together. Ed gave a great first impression. There are few companies out there that are willing to provide this level of customer service.

Ed was very quick to return my initial phone call for a quote request and never took more than a few hours to respond to my countless phone calls and emails throughout the project. His quote was not the cheapest we found - we shopped around a bit and spoke to a few other companies but in the end felt most comfortable with his plan of action and creative ideas. Best home improvement decision we've ever made. The project took 10 working days in total. Work areas were set up, kept neat, and left neatly organized every night. This was important since we have two kids (5 and 2) running around the house 24/7. It was exciting to come home from work each evening and see the day's progress. My wife and I wanted functional places to store games, albums, books, etc. What we ended up with are works of art and definite "show off" pieces. I'll be honest, I have a raging case of OCD. If something is not level, evenly spaced, and symmetrical, it will haunt me forever and I'll never be able to see anything but the imperfection. As I told Ed at the completion of the project (and still now, a few weeks later) I cannot find anything to complain about. We could not be happier with our new additions and are grateful for Ed's professional skill and attention to detail. If we can dream up another project in the future, Ed will be the first person we contact. Exceptional work. Great experience overall.

Overall, I have absolutely no complaints...only praise for the work Ed did. He kept in touch during the time (about two months) between our agreement on the job and the actual start date. He always showed up when he had said he would and did the work he had said he would do. He cleaned up every day, so that our living area was usable for the evening and early morning. He is pleasant and easy to have around.

I would highly recommend Ed, and we plan to ask him to work with us on some other custom projects in our house. Ed visited two or three times to go over the finish (matched to other items in our house) and the details, making sure all my questions were answered. He was very prepared when he came, giving me multiple options to chose from, and offering his expert opinion on the shape and flow of the cabinet when I wasn't sure how something would look or come together. All in all, very easy to work with and a very nice person as well. I felt the price was very fair and reasonable considering I would pay that much or more at Toms-Price, the difference is that this cabinet is one of a kind and EXACTLY what I wanted. That right there is worth it for me! Again, I would highly recommend working with Ed.

It went very smoothly. Ed is very professional and punctual. He built the mantel right here in the house, cleaning up completely each day. It was an overall positive experience and we ended up with a more beautiful mantel than anticipated.
