After renting a water softener for the past twenty years, we decided to see about buying one. We would have bought one sooner, but when we first had it installed 20 years ago, the technician told us that it wouldn't be feasible because they only last 5 years tops. So we've been renting one ever since. Now, twenty years later, we said, we want to finally buy one. I stopped by the office and asked about one and the gentleman at the desk said they would contact the salesman to make an appointment with me. I asked the guy at the desk about how much does one run and he said between $400 and $1200. I said, ok thanks. The next few days, the salesman met me at my house to discuss the opportunity of buying one. He started out by saying that a "new" water softener with them runs between $1300 and $1800. I stated that the guy at the desk told me different. He said, those were re-furbished ones. New ones were more. I said, I'd have to think about it, and he got extremely mad because I didn't sign up for one on the spot. We couldn't see spending that much for a softener. Well a couple weeks went buy, and my wife finally decided to get a refurbished one. So far, its running alright. After reading reviews about other water softeners, we decided to continue using "Culligan". After all they've been in business for decades and they have the record to prove it.

They have been good and I had no problem with them. The guy I dealt with was called Tom and he gave me an option to have it rented for 6 months after which I could buy it if I liked. He was a good person and when I had problems, he came out with a repair guy to make sure it was solved.
