Garrett Archer agreed to tile our mudroom floor (approximately 10'x10') for the price of $300 with the understanding that we would purchase the required materials. He estimated the job would take less than 2 days to complete. We purchased and provided all the materials. He began work on September 10, 2012. As of today (12/27/12), the job remains unfinished. Immediately after the job began, Mr. Archer started giving excuses for not showing up when promised. For over 2 months, we contacted him continuously by phone, text and email. Most of our attempts went unanswered. Occasionally, we would get a text message from Mr. Archer apologizing, giving an excuse as to why the job still wasn't finished and telling us a day and time when we should expect him to return. Each time, Mr. Archer either did not show up or sent a last minute text message with an excuse as to why he would not be coming after all. Excuses varied each time and seemed to get more drastic each time (he was too busy with other jobs; he had to babysit his child; he was sick; he was in the hospital; his child was sick; his child has a heart condition, etc.). When I finally alerted Mr. Archer that I would be filing a civil suit against him, he showed up that week and worked for a few hours. He did not finish the job but promised he would be back in a few days. He never contacted us again. This was part of a renovation, and I needed the tile to be laid before I could install cabinetry. Mr. Archer knew this. Mr. Archer was also aware of an upcoming appraisal on our home. At the time of the appraisal, the tile work was only partially done and no cabinetry was installed, which did impact the home value. I would not recommend Archer Flooring Specialists/Garrett Archer to anyone.
