Description of Work: We used Safe-Guard Waterproofing services for our basement back in June 2013. We got three estimates and chose Safe-Guard based on the information and references they provided. They were exceptional! Everything went perfectly and we've recommended Safe-Guard to several friends and relatives. Jerry Streba was our consultant for the job. They had to dig out the entire perimeter of our basement, put in a drainage system, add a second sump pump, repair wall cracks, etc. They were professional, knowledgeable, prompt, courteous & cleaned up everything before they left! Great company & employees!

Description of Work: Installed ten helical piers around a 500' addition, raising by 1/2" the room and crawl space which had begun to shift due to soil desication of past few years. Everyone (from the original contact, through the people in the office, to the men who did the actual work in VERY cold weather, to final clean up) knew what they were doing, and did it well.

Description of Work: Service performed was dig three 10" square holes through 2" of concrete at basement foundation. Took two men about 45 minutes to electric jackhammer, dig out 10" of dirt, and repair the holes. This work was done as exploration of how much the basement floor could be lowered. I chose this company over their competition even though Ramjack charged $800.00 vs. competitors $250.00, I knew Ramjack was more involved in concrete work. I explained that the $800.00 was way big for two $15/hr guys, and Tim told me "Oh, you'll get that back out of the project".......... I had our architect look at the project - he guessed it would be $35k to $40k max. based on the many basement projects he's designed. I've done numerous major house remodels rebuilds in the past few decades and I agreed. It is a 25x40 area that needs to be dropped at least 10" for proper headroom, more than that has to be dug out for 4" of gravel, 4" of concrete. The chimney needs to be supported before the basement is dug out. Four support posts will need to be replaced and footers installed. 10' curbs will need to be built and poured over a 4 to 5 week period. An engineer will need to be involved with design of helical pier installation. I have also offered to let them open one of the windows larger to use a dirt conveyor to the outside, and replace the opening with a egress window. All that beings said - there is $15k (my cost) of technical work to be done in supporting the foundation. While the floor is open we would install a drain system/sump to insure all hydrostatic pressure is off the exterior walls. So, total it at $20k before digout - which is mostly $15/hr guys with shovels and wheelbarrows, set the drains, rock membrane, and pour the slab. Their price? $65,000.00 plus engineering costs, so just under $70,000.00. I wrote Bob - the sales guy quoting me, saying I was lost on why this price. It's been couple weeks and no response. That's why I gave them a D on price, and D on professionalism - they know I know costs. Bob had said they would drop it $5k if I did it in winter, but still no way to justify it. The best summary came from another waterproofing contractor that was in to bid on this and drainage. Being one of the smaller outfits, he was not equipped to do the lowering job, though familiar with them. He was droppjawed when I told him the Ramjack quote. He had said the job was $35k max.. He said"I've referred them in the past, but maybe I won't anymore", and suggested another Angies list company.

Description of Work: WE SCHEDULED AN 8PM APPT FOR AN ESTIMATE. THE GUY CALLED TO SAY HE WOULD BE LATE. CALLED AGAIN TO SAY HE WOULD BE EVEN LATER ~ 10:30PM MAYBE. TOLD HIM IT WAS TOO LATE, SO HE RESCHEDULED FOR THE NEXT NIGHT. NEXT NIGHT, HE NEVER SHOWED OR CALLED, SO I ENDED UP WAITING AROUND FOR THEM FOR TWO NIGHTS STRAIGHT. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND LEFT A MESSAGE ABOUT THE NO SHOW. THEY CALLED BACK THE NEXT DAY TO TRY TO RESCHEDULE BUT I TOLD THEM I''D TRY ANOTHER COMPANY.
