Description of Work: I had been looking forward to working with this contractor. My company went and reglazed a bathtub for one of their customers and Gallagher has not paid us (2 months now and we have a same day pay policy) and they dodge our phone calls.

Showed up and tore off roof with no advance notice of date or time this would occur. Came home from work and the roof was being torn off. Subcontractor damaged personal property and threatened with a property lien if they weren't paid (when the contractor had already been paid). Waste material was never cleaned up after job was complete. Calls to co-owner stopped being answered or returned after payment cleared. Stressful and expensive (due to repairs to damaged property) experience. Unfortunate lesson learned.
Description of Work: Roofing, soffit, fascia and gutters.
Lousy. They gave me a quote that was vague, and when I asked the estimator was all of this included (plumbing electrical) he stated yes because they have to make it a habitable unit that is up to code. Only fault of mine was trusting the experts or so called experts. I said great and gave them a deposit. After they received my deposit they disappeared. I had to do all the follow ups and inquiries on the project. They never gave me a project start date, they never performed any work. They brought contractors in to look at the project and they stated the estimator messed up on the quote. Later I found out he was fired shortly after the deposit was given. I spoke with Dan (one of the owners) who stated he will fix this and get back to me with a new quote on the project. He never did. He continued to string me along and never gave me a new number. After so long I sent a certified mail requesting my deposit back since no work was performed. I followed up a week later to ask when they planned to release. I spoke with Mike (I believe it was the other owner) and he was beyond rude and unwilling to release funds. He stated they were only suppose to do the carpentry work and shouldn't have to give my deposit back even though they performed no work. He then stated I should get my lawyer involved. Overall once you give them a deposit they show they true colors. First experience with a construction company and absolutely the worst. I highly recommend going to someone else who is fair and makes up for their mistakes. The cost to put up drywall and cabinets was roughly 23k for a 759 sq foot basement. Ridiculous!
Description of Work: I brought them in to give me a quote on turning a basement that was framed out but not finished into a habitable unit. I explained to their estimator everything that needed to be done and he agreed and stated everything will be included in the quote.

They said the job would take 7 or 8 days. The guy who was suppose to do the job was not sent. They sent 4 "kids" who were not vetted by them. They didn't know how to hang drywall or how to mudd. Family room had popped screw holes in walls, lumpy tapeing, mudd just glob bed. Moldings with caulking all over. Ridges over doors and next to my glass sliding door. Bathroom, they hung wrong size door. Put old moldings with nails in them on wood floor and ruined dinnin, family room floor. Dinning area, cut huge holes in drywall for canned lights. Held ceiling drywall up by hand to install. Many popped screw and nail holes and cracks in new drywall. When hung bathroom light lost power to one of our outlets. Plumbing work leaked all over my basement. Couldn't or wouldn't fix or replace glass block. When pulled old baseboards off, made holes in walls and took off old layers of paint with moldings! I threw them out and got quotes from others to fix damage. Then days later a guy named Jim Jones called me from Gallagher and was yelling on the phone that they would fix it. He would send a guy, they made some mistakes. My mistake was trusting him and not getting rid of them. They sent "Jim" the painter who said he could fix this if I give him the time, by then, it was after the 21st of May. He was the worst ever. Cried all the time about they hadn't paid him from last job and he could slap a lein on some little old lady etc. when asked about ridges over doorways, and on ceiling and bows in one part of dinning ceiling he said he would fix. Well, he didn't, he did not do a good job of sanding, fixing or painting. Took many days that he did not show up half the time and finally left around June 10th. I should not have paid one dime for this but gave them some money because I felt threatened by the painter with his lein talk. So I am thinking of a lawsuit now. Ceiling and walls look bad, new baseboards still lumpy from cauk and ridges on ceilings and walls. So yes my remodel looks very bad, they ruined my rooms.
Description of Work: they were to drywall over old panelling in family room. Put on new floor moldings, a new bathroom door to open in opposite direction of old door. Drywall over textured ceiling in dinning area, take down chandelier and 2 small ceiling fans in dinning area and install canned lights in their place, put in new faucets, drain and shower head in Whirlpool tub, fix or replace cracked window in glass block window, install one canned light in bathroom, new faucet in both baths and new countertops. New light in bathroom #2. Paint all rooms mentiomed and new baseboard moldings in Dinning family room. Paint all rooms mentioned. All faucets, lights and countertops provided by home owner.

That was on May 23rd that they first came out to give me an estimate and measure. I got 5 estimates and theirs was the best plus the people that came were very prompt, courteous and professional. When I accepted their bid, they told me it would be 2 -3 weeks before they could begin and that was also excellent. However, it was just the first of many lies When you call, the people couldn't be nicer and more polite and helpful but that's where it stops.2 -3 weeks has turned into 2 -3 months. I ordered a composite material and Ken came out to show me the samples. I chose one and he said he would order it but still couldn't give me a start date. 10 days later, Ken called to tell me that I couldn't get certain parts of the deck in that color so I would have to choose another color. Someone else came out with samples the next day and i chose another color. Just last Wednesday, July 20th, a huge flatbed truck arrived with a pallet of concrete and a pallet of cedar wood and put it all in my driveway. The pallet of concrete was placed in front of my garage door. I immediately called to inform Gallagher of this possible error and I was assured that all that wood was just the "underpinnings" for the deck. The pallet of concrete was not completely covered in plastic and would be exposed to rain. And, even though I had all this material, they still couldn't give me a start date for the deck. They did, however, call my Homeowner's Association to get approval to have all this in a driveway. Finally, the demolition of the deck started on Tuesday, July 26th and Ken did call to inform me of this. Again, I asked Ken about the cedar wood on the driveway and he also assured me that it was correct and was the "underpinnings" for the deck. On Wednesday, July 27th someone wearing a Gallagher Construction t-shirt was on site and had all the old decking removed along with the cedar because it was a mistake. He actually laughed when I told him the story about what that wood was supposed to be used for. On Thursday, July 28th, the composite material arrived and was easily placed in the back of the house where the deck is being built. And, even though he had a forklift, he said he could not remove the pallet of concrete for me. Today, the construction people arrived with their own supply of concrete because the pallet on my driveway and in front of my garage door is concrete and cannot be used. I have contacted Gallagher Construction but no one has contacted me to let me know when the pallet will be removed. Today, i am watching 2 men read instructions about the composite deck and pour concrete into forms.
