Ex-Stink Plumbing & Sewer

They opened up the drain from the kitchen through to the sewer with a new type of equipment. I cannot remember the name of it, but it was like a rotating brush that went through the pipes. I was surprised to see 3 plumbers come to clear out my pipes, something other plumbers did by themselves. It appeared this new equipment needed that many men.

After the initial examination they found that the pipe was full of mud and that they couldnt get the camera down the pipe to perform the requested service.They did,however determine that the sewer pipe had been broken by tree roots and needed replacing after checking my homeowners insurance,I let them do the job.They had to dig up the basement,replaced the sewer pipe and showed me the results -the pipe was also damaged under the street (city property) and demonstrated to the city inspector for future repair.They correctly diagnosed the problem& did a good job.

We bought a coupon from Angies List to perform a snaking and video of our sewer line. All of our toilets were flushing slow and frequently clogging, so we wanted to check the sewer line before replacing the actual toilets. Ex Stink came over, put their camera into our sewer feed, and determined it was clean. They even showed the footage to my wife. Everything was quick, easy and painless. I just wish that would've been the problem! Sewer rodding is much less expensive than replacing 3 toilets. Oh well, that's not their fault.

Great company. They helped us navigate the complicated City of Chicago Residential Drain Program after finding a broken pipe under the city street. They also came and took a look at our main water pipe while they were there because it appeared rusty and corroded. To my surprise, they said that everything was fine and the water pipe was fine. No replacement needed. We definitely would have believed them if they told us it need to be replaced, so I truly appreciate the honesty.

The guys from Ex-Stink were very professional and courteous. They kept me informed of their timing with regard to arriving at my home, and once they were here they explained everything included in the $99 offer and described additional add-ons. I refused the add-on services at the time and they accepted my decision without a quarrel. They were very effecient with their work and answered all questions I had. They readily shared the results of the scope and we discussed options/timing for future services. I would use Ex-Stink again.

Andy found some roots in the sewer line which he stated did not need to be removed at this time. However, he found another problem with the sewer line that he advised me to have repaired. Andy explained everything that needed to done to repair the problem. He provided me with an estimate for the pipe to be repaired and offered a discount if the repair was completed within 30 days. Andy was very professional throughout, and I will definetly be calling back this company when I decide to have the sewer line repaired.

All went very well. Andy and David were polite, personable, very careful to protect surrounding area of bathroom from contamination, worked quickly and quietly and cleaned up very carefully afterwards. To save additional charges (which were also clearly stated in advance) I removed and reset the toilet myself, work which they would have been glad to do for an additional charge. Andy asked me to come down to watch the camera inspection and explained what I was seeing, where the root problems had been and sources of potential future problems such as a low area where the sewer tile had settled and so where water and solids would accumulate over time. Don't know how the job could have been done better, or how the over all experience could have been any more pleasant. Very nice guys..

They did a good job. They found some tree roots and sludge in the main line. They suggested that I get it cleaned out and rodded before any damage is done to the line. They were thorough and showed me on the camera after it was cleaned out. Good job.

Well, an additional problem was found and they took care of it for a reasonable additional cost to us.

I purchased the big deal for work that I needed performed. Unfortunately there was a mix-up in the service area for the offer. As my property was outside of their service area, the appointment was canceled. I contacted Angie's List and was issued a refund. Ex-Stink was professional and helpful. Angie's List was as well.

He did a good job, and gave me good advice about some other plumbing problems I've been having.

The serviceman arrived exactly on time. Explained what was needed to repair broken fixtures. Replaced all 3 fixtures. We still had a little time left so he explained the well, turn off valve and was overall extremely informative.

They were very prompt, courteous, & were able to answer a lot of my questions. They just could not do the work due to the age of my home.

The plumbers of Ex-Stink were very professional and helpful. During the work, we found that our shut off valve was broken and needed to be replaced only to find out that the exterior main turn off was broken too. It was a bit complicated and they were able to work with our village and get it replaced the next day. I appreciate their efforts and coming back as soon as possible to finish the job once the village was done. It was an unexpected expense but they were very reasonable for the work that needed to be done. I would definitely call them again.

After a few hours everything was back to normal. Ex Stink is a great company . I trust their professionalism each time.

We purchased a deal on Angie's to have the well-rated Ex Stink company rod our main line. Unfortunately, the basic service wasn't enough to fully cut through everything in the line (all around the wall of the pipe). Fortunately, Ex Stink's service professional only charged a little more to do it thoroughly and properly - not the normal amount (or difference) it would've cost. The additional cost to clean out the catch basin was very reasonable too.

Called April up - very responsive and nice to deal with. Made an appointment, service guys were there on time. Took camera and looked at the sewer line which was not in great shape. The only issue was that they gave me a really hard sell on fixing the line, but I declined, but would look into it at a later date. They cleaned out the line, put back on the sewer cap, cleaned up their stuff and left everything in good order.

Had to make many changes in scheduling appointment due to weather, but eventually showed up and did thorough job, extra effort to locate underground leak outside property in the easing zone, helped to contact village public work to decide responsibility and cost estimate for the repair. Great experience, will hire them again.

They put a camera from the main sewer line from the soil stack inside each unit, and a camera down the main line from outside clean out, and subsequently power rodded main sewer lines with 2", 3", 4" and 6"cutter bades. Also power rodded main sewer line from catch basin in the alley way with a 6' blade. He was extremely thorough, made recommendations to add outside cleanouts to 2 units that do not have them, and noted a repair needed where there is a cracked tile. The estimate for both cleanouts and repair is $4400. This was a maintenance rodding for all 6 units.We have been told by other companies that we had issues with 2 units as they have a tendancy to back up about 1 time a year if we forget to do the maintenance rodding, as well as the cracked tile. The estimate given by Ex-Stink is extremely competitive and we will likely call them to do the work.

The service man was a little late, but did call. We liked that. He fixed our original problem (leaky bath faucet), but then caused another one during his repair. Because we had some time left on our 2-hr. call he offered to replace the cartridge on the opposite faucet as well. After, when I went to use it, the cold water faucet could be spun 360 degrees. It wasn't seated properly. We had to call him back to fix it. We had plans to go out, but had to cancel them to wait for his return, as he was on another call. When he came, he showed my husband what he had done wrong, said it was completely his fault, and as a result, wouldn't charge us for the return visit, which was right. He left on his unprotected shoes on while in my bathtub and I had to scrub it after he left. He should have had something to put down or asked me for a towel. The original problem was fixed and has not recurred so we are extremely satisfied with that, but based on the entire experience, we would not call this company again. I think they are expanding into residential-type plumbing in addition to their larger business of sewer work. This review is based solely on a residential call.

While rodding one pipe they ran into problems and assumed it was broken. They sent down the camera and found that was the case. I suspected the same thing was the case with another pipe that might have been causing moisture in the basement. They went ahead and sent a camera down there and when they found where it was blocked they said it probably wasn't worth rodding since it, too was probably broken and suggested it would be cheaper and a better long term solution to just re-route the gutters. And that's what I did. They also recommended another plumber to come look at an issue I suspected I was having inside my house. And that plumber was great and also suggested a cheaper solution I could do on my own vs one that would involve hiring him. So, I'd feel very comfortable using them again and trust their recommendations would have my best interest in mind.
