They inspected and cleaned my sewer line. They were very prompt, worked very quickly and did a fantastic job. They left without leaving a trace they'd been there after completely explaining what they'd done and what to look for.

My experience went okay. They were not punctual and showed up late to the appointment. The deal stated a camera inspection was included but they said that it was not. There was some kind of misunderstanding with what they were offering in the deal. I would not use this company again.

It went really well although we ended up doing something different from someone else but it had nothing to do with them. We did learn something very important about our plumbing and our drain tile as a result of the video. So they explained things very well. In fact, they did a better job of locating where our sewer line went once it left the house than the other people we hired for putting the check valve. So I was very pleased with them. They found that the drain tile connects to the sanitary sewer line in front of the house and that explained why we were getting water in our basement. We talked about what we could do about that and the guy said we need a check valve which is a lot cheaper than putting in an overhead sewer. So I appreciated the guy’s honesty about that. They also explained to me that the sewer line from the outside of the house is one size and then it’s larger once it exits the house. So you can’t rod out the sewer line from the house. So we did a combination of clean out and check valve. I was pleased with what they told us. They came out within a week of purchasing the deal.

Plumbers showed up and said that due to main line to house being in basement they would need to bring in sewer line rodding machine to rod out basement line and that would be extra cost that was not covered by coupon. Second that due to age of garage line they were not comfortable using sewer line machine on garage line. They tried rodding with drill and plumbers snake but were not able to open up drain. Received credit back from other coupon. They showed up on time. Performed job in professional manner. Just were not able to help much.

Scheduling was very easy, they were very prompt to respond. They were on time and very professional and did the work very efficiently. Highly recommended.

It went okay, but they didn't really do what I "contracted" with them to do. They started to televise the main drain but when I informed them we have flood control they pulled back on that job and carefully extracted their camera. I guess flood control valves can "capture" and ruin their camera. So, I feel like they didn't finish the job. Also they were supposed to snake the drain. They didn't do this either. They said they had a hard time getting the drain grate off so instead of "snaking" the drain (which is what I wanted) they put compressed air on it. This is a drain that generally runs fine but sometimes slows down - so I wanted it snaked ( that was the deal). But the drain was not "slow" when they came. And it was just as fast before and after they did their work - so I cannot attest to the effectiveness of the method they used. But it was not what I bargained for. They also hard sell you on major plumbing work. It just sounds a little underhanded. They were on time. They were polite. They were dealing with a "dirty" drain (sewage) and my wife was not entirely pleased with how well they cleaned up and she end up cleaning that stuff on her own.

The company came to provide the service and found that we did not have a main sewer line which could be rodded. They were very helpful and suggested that we request a refund since they were unable to provide the service. I spoke with an Angie's List representative who sent me the link to this page. Both the Angie's List representative and also the company who was unable to provide the service were very helpful. The Angie's List representative said, I would be able to get a refund issued. Thank you!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I didn't spend any additional. They told me wrong information and gave me an estimate for something that needed to be fixed. They never completed the rodding that I purchased. However they did do some camera work. There are probably others that are better. I didn't get the service I paid for but they did something else, so I wrote it off. They were completely wrong on one fact.

The plumbers called a head of time and said they would be there in a half hour. They were 10 minutes. Everything went well. They gave me an estimate if I wanted them to come back and have them install an external opening for rodding in the future. I would use this firm in the future.

Service provider needed an outside access to the sewer and I don't have one. To rod the sewer from inside it would cost $100.00 more. This was not on the description of service. I talked to the provider and we agreeded I could get a refund. They are very nice to deal with.

All went well. They were prompt and professional. They offered suggestions for the future, but were not pushy about additional services.

The company came (on a Big Deal) to do sewer rodding, which they did. They told us it was not possible to clean it out entirely because the clean-out on the parkway curves the wrong way. We had heard this from every rodder for years, but rodding generally lasted 2-3 years just the same, so we said just do what you can. 2-3 weeks later, the sewer was completely blocked and backed up in the basement. We called them back, and let them go ahead and dig outside to install a new clean-out. They said the hole would be about the size of a grave. In fact, it was much bigger, requiring removal of a chunk of cement walkway. When they finished, they left us with a huge pile of dirt (clay, not the top soil) that they said would settle. Not only did it NOT settle (much), but there was no attempt to grade it, so in this rainy early summer, it caused water to drain toward and into the house. I had to get out and shovel heavy, wet clay myself, to create some semblance of the correct grade (and I am not so young!) The plantings were scattered in the pile. It was-- and still is, largely-- a mess. Now that the dirt is fairly level, the clean-out is below ground level except for the little square on the top that is used to turn it. I don't know where the cement they removed went... Maybe it is under that dirt somewhere? How well this new work will solve the sewer problem won't really be clear for another year or two... if we're lucky!

Ex-Stink arrived on time to rod my sewer line. It is a difficult access in a small utility room in the basement but they proceeded without too much complaining (as others have done). They also had a camera with them and in course of camera-ing the line, they discovered that there was a break in my sewer line at the point where it joins the main line under the street. They went out to the street to confirm, with some kind of sensor, exactly where the break was. Rather than using that as an opportunity to make a big buck, they informed me of the city's Private Drain Program, in which the city of Chicago is responsible for repairs to breaks in private lines that are a certain distance from the home. They explained the process, which involved Ex-Stink coming back when the city inspector came out to certify their findings. On the day of the city inspection, Ex-Stink returned early to set up the camera and rod the line. They dealt with the inspector when he arrived. They did charge me $495 for that service, which seemed a little high to me, but it certainly beat paying to repair the line at my own expense, which would have been several thousand dollars. Mark, who was there both times, was professional and seemed very knowledgeable.

We bought the Angie's big deal for sewer rodding for $99.00. The first serviceman came and told us that he wouldn't recommend rodding via the pipe in our utility room because it would not do a good job. He said to do it right, he would need to go through our crawl space. So we had to make another appointment b/c we needed to move some boxes in the crawl space and going through the crawl space would be additional $75. Thought it was more $$ we wanted to do a good rodding. During the second appointment, after clearing the crawl space, the serviceman came and found out that there was some bend in the pipe that would not let the equipment through. He asked if we'd still want to do the rodding through the utility room so we decided to do that. The servicemen were very professional and explained issues. We also got a quote to have external clean out installed so everything can be done from outside. We are happy with the service and learned something about our home.

Went well. Good service. Seems a bit on the pricey side, e.g. cost just to drive out.

Original 20 year old drain pipe cracked and caused flooding into house. Contacted Ex-Stink due to ratings and reviews on Angie's List. They came out the same day, found out later it was his day off, and found the problem which at first we thought was roots in the pip. After he cleared out as much as he could after using a camera found the crack in the pipe and gave me a quote to replace the pipe. The representative from Ex-Stink answered all of my questions and did not charge me for clearing the roots out since it needed replacement. They scheduled Julie to come out that same day since I could not use the plumbing fully in the house and the crew arrived 10 minutes early the next morning. The crew was very professional, I had to trim some tree branches to get their heavy equipment in but they even helped me gather the branches on the ground after I completed trimming. The time it took was reasonable but we had to wait over 2 hours for the village inspector to come out to give a final approval which is out of their control. As I mentioned before the crew was very professional and took the extra step in making sure their work was correct and they answered all of my questions without hesitation. I would recommend them to anyone on my block since our houses were built at around the same time and I'm sure they will have the same problem soon.

Hired Ex-Stink Plumbing & Sewer through an Angie's List deal to come out and check our storm sewer line. They sent a video down into our storm sewer to show that the roots from a tree in our front yard had infiltrated into our pipe, thus why our yard had a big dip in it and why our concrete sidewalk had pulled away from our stoop. They showed us everything on their video screen and then discussed a plan of attack (and cost) in order to rectify the situation. We did not use this company to repair the pipe because we found another company via Angie's List that could fix the pipe without having to excavate. I do plan on using this company to repair some interior plumbing issues at our house.

They came the first time and determined that the offer I bought from Angie's list did not cover the work needed. I have a flood control that required someone slender/thin to fit into the whole where the flood control is located. They gave me a $825.00 price to Rod and Hydro jet mass root growth out of sewer. The job was done today and they recommend maintenance of flood control every every two years at $325.00. The job done today carries a guarantee of 2 years and 1 free re-rod. In the unlikely event that Ex-Stink must re-rod a line under warranty there will be a $45 trip charge.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. There was no additional cost. They were friendly and clean. I didn't compare their price.

He had trouble finding how to access the line. Then once he realized it had to be done from the roof, he said the coupon does not apply to an above-ground procedure. I also asked him if he had proof of being bonded and insured, and he could not provide proof. It said it on the truck, but he could not produce a certificate. I did not want someone on my roof who could not provide proof of their own insurance. He basically said I could request a refund from Angie's List, almost as if saying he did not really want to do the job.

We had purchased a big deal for the service, and they were professional. We didn't use it, but we gave it to one of our neighbors. The plumber who showed up gave us an assessment of what was going on with our plumbing, he was very professional, very prompt, and we would use them again, and recommend them to others.

The plumber arrived on time and was able to identify the problem. He was done with his work in 5-10 min.

television showed previous contractor (Power Plumbing) only punched a small hole in roots blocking sewer -- ex-stink went through with a cutter the size of the pipe and cleaned it out thoroughly! I will use them regularly.
