Earlier this year I began to experience category 3 dark Sewage back up in the laundry room in my basement. I contacted "Do Right Rooter who came out and performed a sewer line inspection with a camera locator video system and stated that the back up was due to tree roots grew into my underground pipes blocking the flow of the sewer line that connects my home to the city sewer line. I spoke to John Cooper who explained that my entire sewer line needed to be replaced to completely resolve the sewerage back up issues that I was experiencing in my basement and quoted a cost of $6,800 to replace the entire sewer line from my home to the city sewer facilities. I trusted Do Right Rooter as professionals to resolve the back up issues I was experiencing by replacing my entire sewer line as they assured my that would prevent me from experiencing back up issues in the future. On day one Do Right sent 3 workers who dug a 7ft whole from my home the the sidewalk. Day 2 another set of workers came to install pvc piping from my home to the side walk with one clean out and explained that it should be used for future rodding if needed. After digging approx 7ft. underground and installing the sewer system my yard was in need of major land scaping construction which Do right advised me that I would be responsible for hiring a third party contractor to repair. TWO MONTHS after paying $6,800 to have my sewer line replaced the city experienced heavy rain and I my entire basement experienced a back flow or category 1 clear rain water BEYOND THE LAUNDRY ROOM throughout the entire living area of the basement. At that point my family was completely devastated because our entertainment center along with the majority of our belonging in our basement were now destroyed 2 months after trusting Do Right Rooter to resolve our issue. I contacted Do Right Rooter (who was very unapologetic and tried to blame the city facilities) for my current back up issues. They eventually sent a gentleman by the name of Joe who was very professional and understanding that I wasn't very knowledgeable of the situation he allowed me to video record him explaining that the workers who installed the pvc system in the yard was supposed to install a back water system w/ a clean and check valve Flapper ( which costs $230 on Amazon) to prevent the back flow of sewage into my home. He also drew a diagram of the correct way my system was supposed to be installed with the clean and check system. Joe advised me that he would speak to the owner and have him call me with a resolution. two days later I received a call from a gentleman by the name of David who clamed to be part owner who was very short and advised me that I was supposed to have requested a CLEAN AND CHECK SYSTEM when I requested to have the repairs done. I advised him that I was not a professional and had no prior knowledge of what a CLEAN AND CHECK VALVE was and trusted them to provide my with service needed to prevent another back up. He then advised that John was out of town and would have to call me back. Two days later I received a text from John Cooper stating he would come out the following Monday. I called John Monday after he didn't call or show and at that time he stated that I needed a clean and check that was additional cost and refused to address the situation or even come out as he promised. Now I have to have my yard dug up again to install a clean and check system and DO Right Rooter is refusing to take responsibility. I AM TOTALLY DISSATIFIED WITH MY EXPERIENCE AND MY FAMILY IS DEVISTATED BY THE LOSS OF OUR BELONGINGS and Do Right Rooter's reaction and response when we made them aware that we were dissatisfied with their service.

An absolute Joke of a company. I contracted Do Right to assess and fix a sewer line issue I had on my property. We were having water back up into the home in January of 2022 and needed the issue fixed . The Owner John Cooper came out to assess the issue and informed me I had a belly in my line that needed to be fixed. During this time it was snowy and cold and I asked if the work could be done during the frigid weather, if not, we could ration water be careful and wait until the weather was better. I was assured by him that it would not be a problem and it was immediately a problem. A few days later they came with shovels and tried to dig for about an hour and could not break the ground due to how frozen it was. They gave up and came back the next day with a jackhammer to help break up the ground except in a different spot. I asked them about it and their employee informed me that the first group of guys that came must have been digging in the wrong spot because there was no way my line could've been that close to my neighbors driveway. Once they began It took them a week to get the job done which after talking to multiple reputable companies should have been done in 1-2 days MAX. Before backfilling they did not verify that the issue was fixed as they said they would and almost immediately they had to come back and dig again due to not doing the job correct. After digging up the hole again we got some snow in the area and they proceeded to leave the hole open, sewer pipe broken open, with the water line right next to it exposed for over a week with ZERO communication. They would ignore me for 2-3 days until I would constantly call and ask when they were expecting to finish as I could not have my lines freeze over. All they had was a piece of plywood on top with a traffic cone. After about a whole month of work for a 1-2 day job they finished and tried charging me more because it took so long which wasn't my fault but theirs. A project that should have taken 1-2 days to do took them over a month because they did not want to pass the opportunity to make money. They always sent different people as I probably had 8 different individuals work on my property. No one ever knew what was going on as the company would always lie to them to make it seem like the job was easier than it was so they wouldn't be upset about having to do the work. One of their employees (named Alberto aka Beto) would show up intoxicated which was well known according to all of their other employees. This is also not an assumption as I could smell the alcohol on his breath when he walked by. They recently came back March '23 due to not installing the cleanout properly. The cleanout was slowly starting to lean and by the time they came out was already at like a 45 degree angle instead of a 90. This is the 3rd time they have had to fix their mistake and I am still having problems. I have had another company out and they have told me that they have eliminated my main line when they repaired what they thought was my main line instead of an old inactive line. I had the line inspected with a camera and it clearly shows that the main line no longer connects to the line they repaired. I had another company come out on top of that and they verified as well. I have proof and they refuse to admit it! I had them come out once again after straightening out my clean out and they kept gaslighting me. The owners Dave and John Cooper kept saying that it was not possible, that they didn't do what I saw with my eyes they did and two other reputable companies verified because they don't want to lose more money and fix the disaster they caused. I am now out another $5000 because I had to have someone else fix an issue caused by Do Right because these amateurs do not want to admit they made a mistake. STAY AWAY! The most unprofessional company I have ever worked with. I will not stop until everyone knows what a horrendous company this is. After literally eliminating my main line and making my problems worse they should be footing the bill for the new company to come out and fix their mess. I would rather castrate myself than to have this sad excuse of a company do any work for me ever again. I could write so much more, but this should be enough to warn you to stay away. They are even ignoring my emails after promising to get back to me in a timely manner multiple times. What a sad excuse of a company.

It was a fiasco from the start. First the estimator pressured me into accepting their bid same day, in exchange for a "discount", which should have been my first clue. Then instead of bringing in a light excavator to dig out the trench, they had a couple guys with small garden shovels. Within a couple hours, they cut into my water line; I get it, things like this can happen. However, they didn't even have the courtesy to let me know. I only found out when I looked out my window, saw an apprentice sitting on an upturned bucket playing on his smartphone, and a pool of water in my front yard. I asked what was going on, he told me they cut my water line and were now going to get a pump and a key needed to shut off my water supply. From there things went downhill. The $4,800 estimate to replace 8 feet of pipe ballooned to $10,000 to replace close to 18 feet of pipe because their estimator missed damage to a larger section of pipe. They continued digging with the aforementioned garden shovels. By the 3rd day (without water or sewer), the owner of the company finally brought in a light excavator to dig out the trench. They finally finished things up on the 4th day. They did not regrade the soil, and left me with a large 3 foot high, 15 foot long mound of dirt across my front yard. I ended up getting a landscaper in to regrade the soil for me. I do not recommend them.

It sounds like you had a very frustrating experience. We take all feedback seriously and it is unfortunate that we did not have the opportunity to discuss any of your concerns back in 2019; I would have surely addressed them in a timely, most effective manner. On behalf of everyone here at Do Right Rooter you have my sincerest apologies and if there is anything I can do please do not hesitate to call and ask for me directly. ~Victoria

I gave Do Right Rooter a good review a few years ago when John came out and rodded the sewer pipes. He was very professional and knowledgeable and Victoria in the office is great. I'm sorry to say, however, that I can no longer recommend them. Steve was sent to rod my sewer this time and told me that a portion of the sewer inside my old garage had collapsed and he would need to drill into the concrete floor and replace it. He also said that there was another portion about 10 feet from the collapsed section that also needed to be replaced. He suggested replacing the pipes the full length of the garage to avoid future problems at a cost of $12,400 and used some pretty high-pressure tactics to get me to sign a contract that day, which I subsequently cancelled while he was still at my house. I told him I was too uncomfortable to do the work without other quotes and consultations. He took back my copy of the contract without letting me mark it void. The next day I had another plumber check my sewer line. He came out with a much larger blade on the rooter and cleaned out the entire sewer line, saying that the main problem was tree roots farther out near the street. He initially rodded from the cleanout in my house like Steve did, and he also found the cleanout in my yard and rodded from there as well. He was able to cut the roots in the entire diameter of the whole sewer line and showed me the pictures of all of his work on his camera. His bill was a total of $350 and my sewers are working fine now for quite a savings compared to the original quote. The lesson here was clear. ALWAYS GET OTHER QUOTES, especially when the job quoted is so costly. Plumbing can be very intimidating, since most people know little about it. My purpose for writing this is to save another single or unemployed woman or anyone else from making a big mistake by not getting other quotes and opinions to corroborate the first company's diagnosis. Employees' actions reflect on the companies for which they work, whether or not the companies are honest and competent so, unfortunately, I have to give Do Right Rooter a bad rating this time. Came by quickly (same day, when other options said it'd be 3-5 days before they could get to us), and cleared our plugged kitchen drain. Made a bit of a mess, but I'm pretty happy with the result!

Tech (Geo) came to my home due to black water coming up from my basement drain. He showed up early to my appointment even and wait politely until i arrived because i was running late. He help pump out the water and provided camera inspection to help my find the reason for the back up. the price was high ( at first thought) but after speaking with him, the office secretary (viki) and seeing what work was done it was well worth it. the guys worked diligently and swiftly to dig up approx. 7' of my yard and replaced old piping. when they left they made sure my and my neighbors yard were completely clean. i have recommend them to my father and mother and church friends.

Please do not employ this company. They do not keep their word and do not take accountability for their employees. I was quoted $9800 for work that should have taken 2-3 days. That was on 12/31/18. To this day the terms of the contract have not been met and I am getting the run around from the office staff. I have asked to speak with the owner at least 10 times regarding my displeasure and have not been obliged. They keep trying to pass the buck onto the tech who did the job - who is conveniently no longer employed with them, but aren’t trying to rectify his mess. They’ve even told me he botched other jobs and they’re scrambling to fix all of his messes. They lack communication skills, don’t show up on time - if they show up at all, and aren’t honest about the work that was done. The irony of all of this is that it was one of their own technicians alerted me of the terrible job that had been done. They dug up my front lawn and sidewalk and left it a complete eyesore with promises - that were a dime-a-dozen- to come fix what they’d left a mess. The city is on them about the condition of my yard at this point but I want my money back and to be done with this company for good. I’d be better of figuring out the repair myself than to depend on them. These people do not do good, honest business. Again please do not employ them. More to come as I am unfortunately still in talks with these crooks.

Awful outcome after we were so anxious about getting the sewage flooding resolved in our basement. We ended up contacting Do Right Rooter. After they came to diagnose the problem, they promised the flooding would stop after the repair and after being charged $2800. We should have stopped them from the beginning because they began digging in the wrong location and misdiagnosed us with a “washed out” sewage pipe, which is incorrect as we have pictures of the pipe and it wasn’t washed out but was tampered with per the Village plumbing inspector after I showed him the pictures of the washed out pipe. They ruined our landscape which ended up costing $600 for repair. They did indicate that they weren’t responsible for the landscape but I wasn't expecting the entire lawn to be destroyed from them digging in 2 seperate locations. After the job was completed, we got sewage flooding again multiple times. We called the company to advise them that the problem was reoccuring, which the company began blaming the Village. We debated back and forth with the company and the Village. The village came out on a scheduled appt which the company did not show. The village confirmed that “ the village isn’t responsible and their sewage lines were clear.” We attempted to call the company again and they did not return our phone calls and will not complete any further work until we pay the remaining balance. We will not pay them the remaining balance until they correct the issue that we hired them for. We attempted to request a refund so we can hire a Professional Plumbing Company to correct Do Right Rooters Error. The Outcome is: that we needed a check valve installed instead of a clean out but the company’s objective was to gain profit and the owner offered the check valve option after the pipe was replaced and lawn was repaired from their damages. Now, Do Right Rooter is asking for another $2600 to install a check valve knowing that I am financially distraught after the company scammed me out of $2800 for a unnecessary repair.
