They came quickly and solved the problem quickly. The man they sent was very pleasant. I can't remember if I ended up going with them because of the reviews or because of their ability to come quickly. I would use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: The plumbing company came out 3 weeks ago and cleared a clogged drain.

They did good quality work and were punctual in coming out. His office kept me well informed of his schedule.
Description of Work: They came out drained the entire radiator system and capped off my radiator so I could still have heat while I had flooring installed. At the end of the project he reconnected the radiator, refilled the system and bleed all the radiators. He also reconnected our gas stove.

They were very pleasant and very prompt but I had to get some of the work done over again. They got down in to the basement where I have a canal that links to my house. It was a dirty and a messy job so I can't say it was a clean job or not. They cleaned up after themselves but I still have all the dirt on the floor. The changed the dry basement into a one that continuously leaked and I had to spend a lot to fix it. They also put some of the plumbing back words. They were very responsive and they tried really hard to fix it but I used another company to fix it.
Description of Work: I used Thiesse Plumbing for replacing all the plumbing in our basement in April.

Response from Thiesse Plumbing
First off, OUR WORK was not done backwards, we applied plumbing for a permit on this job and ALL of it was inspected by the Village inspectors and ALL of it was approved according to CODE. 2nd - we removed an existing "homeowner special / sump pump in a 5 gallon bucket" that the previous owner had installed, and revised the sump pump the proper way according to code. We installed a new ejector pump and pit, we showed the home owner the placement/location of the new pit and pump but she did not want to "see it" in that area so she advised us as to the location "she" wanted it to be placed. Once the job was completed, she was still experiencing water seepage in the basement but now in a new location, we checked it out and told her that it has nothing to do with our work, the leakage was coming from around the foundation walls and she needs to waterproofing/drain tile work done. We went back and removed the ejector pit and pump, reinstalled it in the area of the basement that we first recommended "AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER". We do our best to please the client and correct the problem, but when additional problems are present beyond the scope of work we were hired to do, we can only give our professional opinion in hopes the client will investigate it further. When there is water leaking, it doesn't "always" mean it's a plumbing problem.

What seemed at first like a simple clearing of clogged drains, required replacing old rusted pipe. Originally, "Tim" thought the project would be very involved requiring "breaking cement." An additional plumber was added to the job as more equipment was needed. But an innovative approach was found to avoid the more complex/costly solution. The crew was professional and hard working. Since the sewer line to the street were due for periodic rodding, Tim returned the next day and completed that in a timely and efficient manner.
Description of Work: Drains from basement washtubs and kitchen sink were completely clogged. Piping needed to be replaced. Additionally the sewer line was rodded from the house to the street.

We had Thiesse out to rebuild a broken outdoor drain on our basement stairs and rod out the sewer lines. While rodding, they discovered the sewer pipe was partially collapsed. They did a locate with the camera and determined that the issue was in the street just past our curb. The city came out and argued that it was in the parkway, meaning I had to pay for repairs. Thiesse was able to convince the city to dig up the street and spare us the cost. Unfortunately, the city did not find an issue after digging, but I appreciated their effort in trying to get the city to take care of it. After some deliberation, we decided to replace the entire sewer line (approx 35 feet). We have an 85 year-old bungalow and the sewer was original clay pipe. (Oh what fun old houses are!)They suggested that it would be cost-effective to replace the water supply at the same time since the trench was already dug, so we decided do to that as well. Thiesse took care of a very difficult job in an orderly fashion with limited impact to us. Job was done in under 4 days. They laid out a 35 foot trench and hand-dug two spots where the backhoe couldn’t get in. The digging turned out to be a major hassle as about 3 feet down, they hit seriously dense clay that even the backhoe had trouble with. Their guys had to bring out a jackhammer to get through it and spent a lot of extra time working on it. Once the trench was dug, they lay in the new sewer quickly- 35 feet of 6-inch PVC, with a cleanout. The water supply line was laid-in (100 feet of 1-inch copper in total), then they used a mole device to tunnel under the basement floor, so no major demolition was needed- they busted a fairly small hole where the feed comes out at the meter. They also installed a new 1-inch water meter. Thiesse arranged all the permits and inspections with no issue. They got the city to connect us to an upgraded 1-inch feed in the street (that required digging up the street) the same week. In spite of the extra work, they stuck with their estimated price on the sewer, and even stuck with the price they had given me verbally on the water supply. This could have been a nightmare project, but they made it as painless as possible. They are real pros and a very nice bunch of folks.
Description of Work: Replace 35 feet of sewer line from house to street. Replace water supply from street and install new meter. Rebuild stand pipe for drain on outdoor cellar stairs and rod sewer. We have also had other basic plumbing repairs done by them.

For the first call, the plumber, Tim, arrived within the time frame we were given. He was at the house for about 20 minutes and worked quickly and neatly. Unfortunately, the faucet he used as a replacement was faulty and leaked after it was attached to the hose, something he did not check before leaving the house. Within a day, we called Thiesse again and asked for someone to return to repair the leaky part. We scheduled the next available time. The day of, I received a call saying the plumber was on his way. After about a half hour, I received another call saying he was delayed but would be there within 30 to 45 minutes. Fortunately, I had the time. Tim arrived at the house again and inspected his previous work. He said that this particular product had some problems and proceeded to call another plumber or supervisor perhaps, to inquire about the next step. He was told to go ahead and replace the faucet which he did in about ten minutes. Afterwards, the new faucet stopped leaking once attached to the hose and all is well at this point.
Description of Work: Silcock/pipe at outside faucet needed replacing.

I also had low water pressure in my kitchen faucet, asked him to look at that. After much ado, he said I would need a new hot water heater (mine is only 6 years old). After he left, I took out the aerator and soaked it in vinegar overnight. The next day, my kitchen faucet had fabulous water pressure. I saved myself $1000 by not getting a new water heater!

I have used this company before and will continue to do so. I feel I can trust the employees. We have been given helpful advice by Bill Gawne on this occasion and in the past.
Description of Work: Filled washer and let it drain, cycled sump pump 4-5 times. Explained possible cause of water coming through wall around waste pipe was that drain tiles could not hold the excessive amount of rain water on date when seepage occurred. There has not been seepage around the drain pipe when the washing machine expels water since first occurrence. Bill Gawne said we may need rodding if seepage occurs in the future.

The sewer line replacement was expertly done. A detail demonstrating the attention given to the work was the care with which excavated soil was moved to a garden area. It was distributed and leveled as though done by a gardener--a nice touch. The site of the work, which involved concrete removal, was left immaculate. The sewer rodding and video work was performed by Keith, a knowledgeable, hard working and courteous young man who toiled through a rainstorm without any evidence of rushing or cutting corners. The rodding work dislodged several major obstructions ignored by another local firm who never bothered to rod through the main sewer cleanout in our basement! The results of the video were reviewed with me. I like the quality of their work and the respect they show their customers.
Description of Work: I used Thiesse, who was recommended by a neighbor, for two related jobs: Replacing a broken sewer line, and rodding and video endoscopy of the sewer lines.

Thiesse did a variety of different jobs for us this year. First, they installed a new water line from our house to the city main. This is a messy, difficult job that could have been a nightmare, but Thiesse's professionals took care of it in one day, with a followup visit the next day to close the street. They took care of all the city permits and had all the equipment they needed to do the job. Rather than tearing up our yard and the parkway, they used an underground borer that made much less mess than other plumbers we consulted had predicted. I was thrilled with their work, so we hired them to do additional work later, including plumbing a new bathroom on our second floor and replumbing our kitchen. They did fantastic, quick work and were very, very clean. When they left, there was nothing to clean up. Everyone I met from the company was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I could not recommend Thiesse more highly.

Excellent. The have me a window of time when the plumber would arrive and called just before to confirm he was coming. He diagnosed the problem promptly and repaired it within 15 minutes. They came out the first time and worked for 2.5 hours from the clean-out in the back of the house, trying to open up the sewer. They couldn't get past a certain point near the front of the house. They didn't ask any questions, just said someone else would have to come out and finish. The second guy came out the following Monday. I couldn't be there but let them go into the basement where there was an old flood control system near the point of where the rodding stalled. I had no idea that it could be the issue. Well, they said it was and then called to say the sewer was open and flowing. Within a week, I noticed a strong odor in the basement near the flood control area. I thought it might pass, but it didn't. I called another company who came out and immediately found a back-up of waste in floor control pit. They cleaned it out and said it hadn't been cleared in a long time, so I know Thiesse didn't do what they said they did. I'm very disappointed with their service. I feel they essentially did nothing and charged me $350.

Water was seeping up through ground in median strip. The Village determined the leak was on my side of the "B" box at the main. I also had an outside faucet that had cracked during the winter. Several water valves in the basement had become inoperable and were not easily accessible. Some old lead pipe was replaced with copper and rerouted for easy access.

I sent an e-mail to the e-mail address they have listed on Angie's List. They did not respond at all. I will not say they are bad plumbers because I have heard others say good things. But do not try to contact them via e-mail. Someone else made the same comment, so I should have tried calling. But it was Sunday night and I thought I could explain the whole thing in writing without interrupting my day on Monday. No response ever. I went with another company instead.

When I called the first time I left massage for the estimator to call me. I never got a call back. Scheduling a time was a problem. We needed to reschedule a couple of times because of conflicts. One time was the result of our schedule conflict and the other time was the result of their schedule. We were given a time window of when the plumber would show up, however, the window did not include how long it would take them to complete the job. If the job does not seem to be complicated, I would suggest trying to get the first appointment of the day. Otherwise, you could be waiting far longer for them to show up and finish the work. Outside of the scheduling issues, they did do the work well and the problem was fixed.
