+ 1 moreWe first used Kinetic Energy to check the wiring in our 1890's house in 2016. They spent several weeks here checking each and every outlet, light fixture and switchplate fixing anything needed, and rewiring our light fixtures on an as needed basis. They are now our "in house" electricians, and have since done a bathroom renovation, a kitchen & family renovation, outdoor wiring, and anything else we need. They are always prompt, pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, and respectful of our time and budget, giving us options and choices whenever possible. They have our highest recommendation, and I will definitely use them again.

Just recently we hired them to (1) to remove an existing dual bulb motion sensor floodlight and then, in it's place, set up a Ring-brand motion sensor with a camera and floodlights on the alley side of our garage, and (2) install a Ring-brand doorbell camera/motion sensor on our front door. The work included making sure both units were connected to our WiFi and working properly. We got an estimate for the work weeks before we could get on the schedule. Today we got the invoice for the completed work, and it was exactly the same amount as the estimate. The installer Steve was very friendly, efficient, explained well what he was doing and didn't leave so much as a speck of dust when he was done. This is an Oak Park business, owned by Oak Park residents. SHOP LOCAL!

They checked all potential sources of the problem and eventually found that an outdoor spot light had been wired incorrectly and was directly touching metal, essentially electrifying the entire garage. Will definitely work with them again.

+ 0 moreA job well done. The fan install didn't require any drywall cutting, so no patchwork had to be done and minimal dust generated. The crew quickly figured out the ceiling fan wiring problem. The tech who installed the conduit placed the fixture and outlet boxes exactly where I requested them to be. All who came into and worked in my home were very nice, treated my home with respect, cleaned up after the job was done, and didn't seem to mind me watching and asking questions along the way. Payment was a breeze online. Kinetic Energy is my go to for anything electrical from now on.
Description of Work: Kinetic Energy installed a new bathroom exhaust fan, corrected a wiring problem between a ceiling fan and an outlet, installed conduit and ran wiring in basement, and installed light fixtures and outlets.

+ 0 moreA housing re-inspection (conducted 13 years after the fact) revealed a punch list worth of electrical issues that needed addressing, sooner rather than later. Selected Kinetic Energy because of their ratings across multiple online platforms, as well as the fact that they are a local business. They certainly lived up to their ratings. When Carlos and James came out to complete the work, they spent about half an hour going over the punch list in detail to determine what was really essential instead of trying to sell us on a complete bill of goods, which was much appreciated. (How many contractors can you say THAT about?) Three-and-a-half hours later, the work was complete and we were very satisfied.
Description of Work: Replaced two exterior GFCI outlets; repaired two interior outlets; replaced six open-bulb light fixtures; evaluated and repaired some overfused circuits in the electrical panel; concealed all electrical connections inside metal jnction boxes in basement.

Description of Work: Ted and his crew rewired our >100 year old house. This was a HUGE job. Most electricians we talked to about our house weren't up for the challenge. But Ted was more than willing to take on the job. He really understood how attached we were to our house and definitely took that into consideration. Not only did they replace all the knob and tube wiring, they installed LED cans in every room, put outlets where we requested, and even did an electrical setup for our projector that we were installing. Ted was always available by phone or text at all hours of the day, called to check in to make sure we were pleased with the work. The crew was great and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time given the extensive work that needed to be done. I will continue to use Ted and his crew for any of my electrical needs going forward. I can't say enough how pleased my husband and I have been with all of the work they have done for us, not to mention their estimate was almost $5,000.00 less than what the other electricians quoted us for. Our house looks absolutely amazing. I can't recommend Kinetic Energy enough!

The owner was super friendly as was the technician. I needed the job done ASAP as I was moving,and they were more than willing to accommodate me. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: He switched out my ceiling fan that I had in my bedroom.and installed the original ceiling fan that was there when I moved in. He did it quickly and was very professional and helpful. The whole thing took just about 60-70 minutes,and I was only charged for 1 hour if service. The boss is very friendly,as was the technician. I'd use them anytime.

+ -1 moreThe lighting makes a HUGE difference in the basement. He paid close attention to the symmetry of the layout of lights in the ceiling. Good attention to detail. I was pleased with his work and asked him to look around at anything else that would need immediate attention. I appreciated the fact that he saw some things that weren't huge red flags, but mentioned that we could take care of a few other minor things if we have him back for anything else. Put simply, he was not trying to up sell me to take advantage of me. It's was a good sign to me that he was a trustworthy contractor. He also came back a few months later when I told him how hot the light switch dimmer was getting and switched it out for a larger dimmer with more capacity at no extra charge. So he stands by his work.
Description of Work: Ted installed new 6 inch recessed lighting cans in our basement. He punched in about 10 in all. He took out the two recessed box lights and rewired the the basement lights in the ceiling. I have a young family so I asked him to fix any obvious safety hazards that could pose a danger to curious little kids. He corrected several other electrical issues that were not up to code, including rewiring an outlet that had a freezer on it so it's on it's own circuit. He also pulled a bunch of old wire and ran new wires from the electrical box. There was a huge beach ball size clump of old raggedy wires he pulled. That was just the basement. He also added a security light on our garage above the pedestrian door that is motion sensitive and fixed an aging electrical outlet that wasn't safe in the least bit... and I wasn't aware of it.
