I wish all the contractors on this basement project were as good to deal with as Family Waterproofing. Throughout the whole process, communication was good. Ken the owner was responsive and patient in answering all my questions and addressing concerns. They prepared a detailed contract of all work to be performed, and did what they said they would. I like that they did an exploratory dig after signing the contract to make sure we had a solid plan and avoid any surprises during installation. There was an area under the basement stairs and an old cistern that required a creative solution. They came up with a solid plan that didn't add extra cost. I asked them to pour some extra concrete under the stairs which wasn't included in the contract, which they did for a good price. The crew was friendly and had a good natured camaraderie on the job. The overall cost was very fair and we received great service and quality. They are honest, care about their customers and want you to be happy. Now I'm looking forward to a big rain!

Ken Kirchner, the owner, checked on our foundation. The insurance adjuster told me we may have a crack in the foundation. After evaluation our foundation, Ken told me there were no cracks in our foundation. Our plumber told me there was a water pipe problem. Ken video taped the location the water was coming in our family room. After viewing the video, our insurance adjuster told me we had a valid claim. Ken and Family Waterproofing Solutions did not charge me for his service. When you are looking for an honest evaluation and workmanship, I highly recommend Ken Kirchner and Family Waterproofing Solutions.

Much better (though I wasn't feeling my best when Mr. Rob and an employee) returned Thursday 10/8/20 to repair and/or replace the damage done to my sprinkler system line during the process of digging during renovations of crawlspace area back on 9/14-15/20 This visit I was happy they returned quickly to take care of the matter by replacing and repairing the sprinkler system area and replacing that tubing from not sitting on top of lawn so much and I am happy to say "they did not remove sprinkler heads, they were not getting any pressure to pop-up because the underground water line had been cut according to Mr. Ron's previous visit and analyze" so once it was corrected, I wanted to make sure everything was back in working condition and tested the system both 3-4 water zones popped up with no problem and spraying water out as usual. This time they did a much better job in how the tubing was placed and system up in running I will attach photos to show I wasn't so much pleased the way i was to sign a contract and/or take down review, but I signed because they came and corrected the issue on one of their worker's behalf and that's a good way of business so as I promised them I would update the matter with an updated review of the situation. and thanks to leaving that review something was done because without nothing might not have been done again Thanks AngiesList for your service in servicing us.

The quote was fabulous with them. It's a family business and I was impressed with them. The quote was reasonable and the service was fabulous.

It went great. They worked quickly and efficiently and they cleaned up their mess but the best part was they were very reasonable. I would recommend them to everyone.

I would strongly advise using ANYONE else but Family Water Proofing for your waterproofing needs. My experience has been exceptionally frustrating. When initially hired we opened up the entire perimeter of our finished basement (as instructed) so they could install the drain tile. When they came to do the work, they said they could only install about a 1/3 of the exposed perimeter and we would have to hope that was the source of the issue as well as absorb the cost of demo and refinishing the walls that were unnecessarily removed. Once complete I hired some contractors to put the walls back together and level out the floors. However, they were unable to get the floors level around the perimeter where Family Water Proofing had installed their product because the installation of the drain tile was too near grade and they had covered it with an excessive mound of concrete. So now there's basically a hill around the perimeter where they did the work- I have 32 linear feet of unusable wall and floor space. I can't push furniture up against it because it will tilt forward/ sits on a mound. I asked them if they could fix it and credit the cost for me to have the contractor come back and to re-level out the floors in that area ($700). They said they would return but with no credit because they had already "discounted" the project...the project was NOT discounted- they only did part of the initially agreed upon work and so the price was lowered accordingly. We had some heavy rainfall a couple weeks ago at which point our basement, like many others, flooded with over one inch of rain. To our surprise the connection from the pump to the plumbing in the wall was never secured- there was no coupling and as a result the connection had come lose filling our basement with rainwater!!! We would have been better off with no sump pump at all in this situation- the sump pump was THE SOURCE of the sudden and excessive influx of water (this was not sewer backup, the water was clean/ clear and had undeniably come from the area of the pump). I've been in contact with them for weeks trying to get them to come out here and correct their "guaranteed" product and have been met with a series of infuriating responses, where again they expect me to pay them fees for their poor quality services. It's rained again in the past 24 hours and we are seeing water again on our floors. I'm at a loss at what to do.

This company is by far the best I have ever seen, dealt with or heard of for waterproofing solutions! After many years of a leaky basement that had been touched by the big name guys multiple times, Ken came out and provided solutions that would solve the real problem once and for all. We had multiple quotes and Family Waterproofing was by far the lowest cost (more than 1/2) and had backed up their work with a real warranty. The total quality of workmanship was outstanding and this repair team did not rush and paid attention to every detail. The repair was perfect and they were very careful not to mess up the inside of the house and cleaned up everything as if they were not there. Do not let this low price fool you, their quality is much better than the other guys because they don't have this huge overhead and charge you for all of the commercials like the other guys. They did everything they said they would and for the original price quoted. You could not hire a more pleasant, honest, quality company to deal with than these guys.

I noticed water seepage in my basement crawlspace. I gave family water proofing a call and within the hour Ken gave me a call and came out to repair the cracks in my foundation. He also found that my gutter in the area that I had a water issue was slipped incorrectly which was very helpful. I will definitely refer him to clients, friends, and family in the future.

Excellent! John Doig was called ahead of time and let us know he may come closer to the latter part of the one and half hour time window. He did come as promised and inspected the now dry spot in the basement where water had seeped a couple of weeks ago. He asked several questions such as 1) how long we have lived in the house 2) Has water ever seeped in the basement 3) what is the age of the sump pump 4) Was there significant rainfall on the day of the seepage etc. Based on our answers he concluded that it might have been a one time occurrence. He suggested we should call him if it ever happens again.

It's my first review on Angie's List! I can't say enough wonderful things about Family Waterproofing Solutions in Evergreen Park. I called them when I had water in my basement in September. From the moment I called and spoke with Alaina in the office to when John Doig arrived at my house, I was met with nothing but the utmost in professionalism, appointment confirmation, punctuality and service ABOVE AND BEYOND:) What stood out most was that John Doig took the time to assess my situation and problem solve. It was a multi step situation. This was the complete opposite of the other "big name" companies who came out with a goal to sell me a complete system without really knowing the origin of the problem! John has been out to my house 2 times. At this point it seems to be a gutter/downspout issue. I have already referred them to a teacher I work with. Thank you Family Waterproofing!

Everything was perfect. Timely response and appraisal of our needed repair. I had gotten another quote from a well advertised provider. There was a substantial price difference. The men showed up on time and performed the repairs quickly and answered all questions as they worked. I chose to wait a period of time after severe heavy rains to leave a review of the work. I can't rate this company highly enough. Very pleased.

The owner showed up to provide us the quote and was extremely knowledgeable and the foreman came out prior to walk the job. The installers where very professional, quick and left the job site very clean.

Ken is extremely responsive, takes extra time to explain, thorough in his assessing and inspections. Ken came in and completed his overview, explained everything to us, and we moved forward with service. Ken was flexible in trying to get into the work and even put in extra time with his team to help us. Anything that we asked for, Ken responded and saw things from the perspective of the client. We appreciated all the hard work and the project turned out very well.

Ken came out to assess the problem and assured me it was fixable. He quoted me a reasonable fee and was very friendly and professional. Rob was out to do the job a couple of days later. He was prompt and quick! The crack was sealed and I have not had a problem since.

The job was finished poorly. When the owner finally came out to view the work he told me that they are not concrete workers and that they couldn't not finish the job to our satisfaction. He suggested refunding our money and removing their system. We accepted his offer and the very next day he declined his offer.

Ken came for the initial consultation. He was very helpful. Explained everything and answered all our questions. And asked many times if we had any questions. Rob was the foreman for the work crew. He had us come look at what was being done each step of the way. They put in steel beams with footings under the beams and attached the top to the beams in the ceiling joists. This was to shore up the bowing wall. They also put in drain tiles and a sump pump to get the water away from the house. They cleaned up after themselves and were very polite. I will definitely pass their name on to anyone who needs work done. And we would hire them again!!

Excellent company to deal with - initially contacted regarding water in the basement. Recommended installation of drain tiles indoors but after several months of no further occurrences, agreed with our assessment that the issue had been adequately dealt with outside of the house. Requested a revised quotation to replace the existing sump pump with a new heavy duty model and a brand new backup system. Would not hesitate to do business with them again.

I needed to solve for a water intrusion issue. I met with Ken and he explained that there would be a different solution if the leak was above ground or below. He tested the area with the garden hose and determined that the issue was above ground so that it would need to be a different provider. He spent a lot of time and gave me a lot of information but did not charge anything since he would not be able to fix it. I appreciated the information and help and will definitely use Ken for my next job.
