Natures Perspective Landscaping

Nature?s Perspective did some excellent work for our neighbors last year, so when we decided we needed to do a large landscaping and hardscaping project (designing and building new front steps and patio, new sidewalks, re-grading, sodding, and a drainage system for excess rainwater), we felt they were the ones to call. We made a very wise decision. Everyone with whom we came into contact was extremely professional, very skilled, and customer oriented. Tom (the low-key, hands on, and highly knowledgeable president of the company) was especially impressive, but every supervisor and worker was excellent in his or her own way. The job was complicated, with several design elements and with a large number of pieces needing to fall into place. They also needed to coordinate with two other contractors for work they were doing. Given the extraordinarily high quality of the work, the price (which I prefer not to indicate; hence the "0") was eminently fair. I recommend them very highly, and we will be using them for additional projects as time goes on.

They are an excellent firm. They are a very skilled of landscaping. The owner used to be in charge of the landscaping at the Chicago botanical gardens! Everything has gone very well!

I love it how they show up and just get to work - they plow through like storm troopers and they work their butts off. I have always appreciated the conversations and detail that I get from the office when i call.

Mark was very professional. He met with me to find out what I liked, didn't like and came up with a plan. He was able to get our job scheduled quickly. Mark came by the day of the installation to check in and inspect the work. The crew worked diligently, cleaned up everything and were super nice. They do follow up with you too to make sure you don't have any questions and to give you watering instructions.

This was the second time I've used them and they were very good. There wasn't that much to do around the patio. It was very satisfactory and they back up their products. They replace plants and flowers for a year that don't do very well. They are close by. I don't think landscapers are very good generally and they did the job. They did replace some things. They were very satisfactory. I would hire them again. They did a very good job of cleaning up. They are expensive.

I have used Nature's Perspective before.. to do the front yard. At that time I needed to keep on their case to get the job done, but the design of the yard and work once completed was good. So this year, 2010, I called them and talked to Tom. I told him who I was and reminded him that they had done the front of our house. We made an appointment for him to come and meet with me about doing the back yard.. both a new patio and complete landscaping. On the day we had agreed to meet, my husband saw a man come into our yard a couple of hours before the appointed time, look around and leave. Tom never showed up, never called, never contacted me for any kind of follow up or apology.

They submitted carefully drawn plans and consulted with us at every step. They guarantee their work and their plants. In fact, some of the plants didn't look too good after several months, and they replaced them promptly. They are careful, competent professionals in every aspect of their work.

This was only the most recent of several jobs we hired Nature's Perspective for. Our backyard water feature needed readying after winter and NP emptied it, scrubbed the liner, "fluffed" the rocks, cleaned or replaced various filters. But they have also replaced an intricate front, brick walkway with terraced steps, installed garden bubblers from gutter run-off, re-laid various stone and brick walks that needed repair. The only notch-down I gave them in the price area is because they ain't cheap. But they do good work.

They are outrageouly expensive for regular lawn maintenance. Their design work for the front of my house was beautiful and they did a wonderful. It was expensive, but it just upgrades the whole house. They are very, very environmentally conscious. They will work with things that will ecologically fit in the area. They did a really great job and everyone in the neighborhood agreed it dramatically changed the look of the house from an old home to a beautiful home. They also gave me a plan for redoing the sidewalks, too. I did have trouble getting them to finish up the job, they kind of forgot about me. They came back, but only after I really complained. I would hire them back, but only with qualifications.

It was a very positive experience and they did a great job at a great price.

They were wonderful and the price was fair. We already have them drawing something up for our back yard.

They replaced the plants in the front, as we got a little fence area and they also put in a tree when they came out in September. A number of things had died from fungus, bugs and other stuff. So, they replaced everything as well as regraded it. They also fixed the retaining bricks. The crew that comes out to get the work done always communicates well with me and they also clean the place before they leave. They did the entire work in a few hours and they also transplanted few of the plants. They did some hardscaping too like they redid the bricks and the steps. They were responsive and good. We would use their services in the future and in fact, we are planning to use their services in next spring.

The last time they were here was for Spring clean up. They trimmed some shrubs and so forth. We have also used them for landscaping design. They are thoroughly professional, they do what they say they will do, they charge what they say they will charge and their design work is creative.

The landscaping company did show up on time but they never consulted with me before or afterwards so I never had a chance to decide what they were going to plant. I wanted them to consult me, but they just came and planted. Not consulting with me was not professional. There was no real landscaping and no concept in what they did. What they planted looked like a warehouse with plants and had no design and no blooming plants. We wanted something that would bloom all year around, but there were only a lot of green plants. I would never have approved the landscape design if it didn't fulfill the specific requirement we had which was to have some part of the lawn blooming all the year around. The price was okay and they got my money's worth. The quality was below average. The guy was not honest because when some plants died, I kept calling, but he didn't respond. Then he called to say that he had left a message in my voice mail and there were no messages. He finally came and replaced the plants that died after I complained. I had to go through the whole process to get them to respond.

I don't have weeds. They told me that some bushes I had a different company plant were in the wrong area. They are true professionals and do all kinds of landscaping. My yard always looks nice. The only time I complained was recently when my flowers were wilting but that was because I needed to add water!

They are very professional and straight forward. They do just what they say that they are going to do. They always follow up with me. I will continue to use them in the future.

John C. was a huge help in putting together a drainage system plan for us. The workers were courteous, professional, and quick. We were thrilled with the work.

The man in charge of it was at one time in charge of the Chicago Botanical Gardens. He really knows is stuff. The walk had an art deco design that was crumbling. I could not find someone to replicate the design. I spoke with my landscaper, he stated he could do it. He did a great job replicating the design. I don't think find better than he is.

They are very good.They are very responsible.We will use them again. We liked them so well we have a service contract with them.

This company was excellent. They did a wonderful job. I have gotten nothing but compliments from my neighbors about how much better my yard looks. They were thorough, very professional, and they always came back when we left them messages. They were also very good with the follow-ups. They are great yard designers. They did very good. I will most definitely use this company again in the future.

Overall it was terrible. The landscaper, Pat, seemed to be a sales woman more than a landscaper. She first gave me a plan way out of our budget and then said that maybe she could re-do it to fit within our budget, but it would be difficult. We had to wait months for the work to get done and the end result was only mediocre. The plants she chose had beautiful flowers but that was about it for positives. There was very little planted, the yard looked bare and the vinca died the next year and the boxwoods turned brown even though we watered and took care of them. For the amount of money we spent, I feel like it was a terrible mistake to go with them.

They were very expensive but I thought OK if I get good service. Unfortunately, they provided very bad service. They would not even return any of our phone calls to discuss the service and arrange for new plantings. After 3 or 4 weeks of no return calls, we fired them. I have still not gotten a final bill or my gate key returned.

After some delays receiving their proposal, NP came to do the work 2 weeks later than originally promised. When I inspected their work later that day, it was clear that they had not removed the bad soil but had instead laid it onto the adjacent planted soil beds, thereby raising the bed level by 1 to 2". In doing so, they had serviced my 'lawn' problem, but had created a 'garden' problem. After the first rainfall, the clay fused together and formed a hard 'lid' on my planted beds. I have since had to amend this soil many times with organic material to counteract the clay. In the years since, I have noticed a peculiar type of weed cropping up in my yard, but only in the areas where NP laid down new topsoil. My guess is their soil isn't as clean as it should be. Not the end of the world, but a major nuisance if you do your own yard work, and you shouldn't have to put up with something like this when you are paying for a service. I would not use or recommend this company again.
