I contacted Dan around the first of May to get an estimate for a professional Spring clean up and weekly yard maintenance for the summer. For the initial clean up he agreed to mow the yard, clean out gutters, cut back overgrowth, fertilize, pick up all trash, edge, trim the hedges, and then follow up each week throughout the summer to mow and edge. He thought the initial clean up portion would take him about two days. So we signed a contract for weekly maintenance and I paid him up front for the clean up portion. An hour later, four strange men were in the yard mowing. I didn't begrudge that Dan had a crew but had distinctly remembered him saying he did the work himself and wouldn't start until tomorrow, but Dan was nowhere in sight. After a quick mow and a little edging the men were gone, maybe an hour and a half total. The next day came and went and nobody showed up. I called Dan and left a message to inquire about the schedule and additional items that had been agreed upon under the initial clean up contract and payment, but he did not return my call. Another day, another call, again nobody showed up. After about four more attempts to get a return call and two weeks later, I gave up hope but called one last time to make it clear that we were no longer interested in his services and to consider our maintenance contract null and void. Ten minutes later the same four men were on our property unloading mowers. I spoke to the man in charge and he said they were told just to mow and edge, nothing more. I had them leave without performing the service. Dan never called me back. We paid around $500 up front in good faith for a thorough professional fall clean up but instead we got a one time mow and edge job. Dan ripped us off for the clean up and subcontracted the mowing out to another company who probably only got paid $25. That's bad business practice, unprofessional conduct, and over all dirty ethics.

I have a lot of trees, so whenever I have a clean up done, there is quite a lot of work involved. They have come to my house three times. They once missed the side of my yard, which was a disappointment, but not enough to drop a grade.
Description of Work: Daniel and his crew came to my house to do a spring clean up, and I've used them before. They have always done a really good job.

Daniel charges by the week, but only bills his long-time customers by the year. Which I guess could be good or bad depending on how the customer manages his/her budget! Anyhow, my tiny yard averages about $80/month, which I am sure is bordering on the "nuisance level" (i.e., too small a job )for Mr. Lynch, but he happily does it, and has done it, for many years. He also actually works with his crew, so if there is anything I want to discuss with the "boss", he's right there and available. He's always done exactly what I ask him to, and enjoys discussing the yard and its plantings.
Description of Work: Mowing and edging front and back yard.
