First, and most important, the quality of the work performed was absolutely first class. Our design was comprised of 4-1/2-inch square Saltillo tiles, with several smaller accent tiles inserted at a 45-degree angle, requiring many tiles to be cut very precisely. The entire design was laid out in our front hallway for our inspection and approval before any tiles were cemented in. Javier paid attention to details that a less experienced craftsman might have not seen to. He made sure the new floor was perfectly level (which the old one had not been), and he used a laser device to center the design in the room. The end result was simply stunning. There were two surprises when the old floor and baseboard were removed. First, the concrete substrate under the old floor in our 75-year-old house had partially disintegrated as a result of a slow plumbing leak that had gone undiscovered for a long time, and after it was removed it turned out the some of the floorboards below it were waterlogged and rotting. Javier replaced all that damaged material with new plywood and Durock. This was outside the scope of the original contract and added a full day to the job, and the additional cost to us was fair and reasonable. The second surprise was that the old baseboard could not be removed without tearing up the lower portion of the old plaster walls to which it was affixed. This was particularly vexing because the new baseboard tiles were not as tall as the old ones. Javier cut out the old plaster and replaced it with new drywall before installing the new baseboard tiles, again at a minimal extra charge. Both of these unforeseen developments made us feel fortunate in having hired an experienced craftsman who knew how to handle them. A word of explanation for the rating of B for responsiveness: this was one part of a project that involved coordinating the work of several tradesmen. When we were scheduling all these activities, Javier was rather slow to respond to emails and text messages, making it difficult for us to schedule the work that needed to be done before and after his part of the project. He did, however, show up on the date we agreed upon and complete the work on time, so all turned out for the best. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the work of Lomeli Stones, and if we need tile work in the future we will not hesitate to hire them again.

It was a very difficult job to remove the original 18 year old ceramic tile in the kitchen, laundry room and sun porch and then to replace it with a terrazzo porcelain tile that was a thicker tile than the original. They also installed a heated floor in the sun porch. After they completed the floors, they installed a large backsplash with hand made tiles that were all variable in sizes. They did an amazing job! They were always on time and meticulous about their work. They carefully protected the work areas and cleaned up after every project and worked around my schedule- even on Saturdays if I wanted. Edgar and Javier are truly professional with great expertise in their trade. They went above and beyond to be helpful and satisfy their customer. In fact, when an electrical subcontractor we hired to do the electrical work for the heated flooring left the job unfinished with carpentry work remaining (he never returned to complete the job after he was paid), Edgar came to our home (and to our rescue) on a Saturday to finish the job that we paid another contractor do to (and he didn't charge us extra for his work). When we first planned to do this work, I secured four quotes and most of them were highly recommended by Angie's List. Lomeli Stones did not come up on my initial Angie's searches (their two top evaluations were from 2011). However, a neighbor had used them and raved about their work. They were the lowest of all the quotes. I could not be happier with the quality of their work... I would say you can't beat their prices either. They are more than fair and competitive and I would hire them again without reservation.

Our experience was spectacular. We interacted initially with Javier Lomeli and later with his brothers Edgar and Adolfo during the 2 weeks they were in our house. They were cheaper than competing bids from Tigele Tile and Mosaics and Mona Lisa Stone and Tile. The work is flawless and they were very nice and polite. What I loved most is that they seemed to really case about quality independent of what my own standard was. Clearly they take pride in their work. They make it to my top list for contractors. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Lomeli provided a very competitive quote for the job. I chose them over others because of their quick responsiveness, respectful interaction, and a willingness to address my specific concerns and questions. I would choose them again and recommend them to anyone because of the incredible craftsmanship and quality of their work. These guys are not and quot;tile guysand quot; they are artists in their own right. Javier went over all the specifics and details of the job with me, even providing drawings to explain certain things when I needed it. He was very quick in his responses to me, either via email or phone. Javier was respectful and clearly knows this business. He made recommendations as needed and honored my decisions. The workmen were timely, courteous and enjoyable to have in my home. There was a point in the work when the shower wall was done in a way that was different than I expected. I was moderately upset and confused, but the on–site manager remained calm and talked me through their decisions. He was completely willing to redo a half day's work on their dollar, but I trusted his call and it was a great aesthetic decision. I can't say enough about their attention to detail...especially with cutting the large marble tiles into smaller and smaller squares for the floor detailing. They did two mosaic tile inlay designs which turned out beautifully, as well as a shower nook with glass shelving. After the majority of the job was complete, they quickly returned to put in a backsplash above the vanity once it was installed. My bathroom is absolutely beautiful and I couldn't be happier with the tile work from Lomeli. P.S. When the shower glass installers were doing their work after Lomeli was finished, they commented on how straight and level the shower walls and curb was done. They were quite impressed.
Description of Work: Lomeli installed marble tile in a renovated bathroom. Work included: shower floor and walls, built walk–in shower curb, shelf nook, detailed mosaic tile inlay. Helped design the tile framing around shower window and nook.
