Description of Work: We asked Andrew to rebuild the second floor exterior window frames which showed signs of rot. We have a mansard roof on 2d floor and overhangs over windows had some holes allowing birds to nest inside. Nearly all window frames were covered by aluminum when we had windows replaced some time ago. We wished to return the windows with custom molding to original state. So we didn't know exactly what was involved until the aluminum came off. Once we saw what was needed, i got custom millwork for side molding, but we thought the top plates would be ok. Pepe also recommended we keep the sills because that would be much more work to replace them. In hindsight I think we should have done the sills too. Pepe and helper were professional and did the required replacement. The finished windows look pretty nice. We engaged painters to do all the fill and painting.

Description of Work: I highly recommend Kerr Home Services and will definitely call them again for my next project. You speak with the owner, and that is a plus. He recognized that I had a hard time finding someone who could handle my small job of installing insulation to my crawl space. Even though it was a small job, David did not turn it down, and sent out his handyman to do the job. The man was very professional and did an excellent job. He showed up on time and there were no quality issues. I am please with the outcome.

Description of Work: Patched a hole in the ceiling. Arrived earlier than the assigned time and assessed the problem promptly. Patched the hole and said he would be back in the afternoon to apply another layer. He was informed that we had to be elsewhere that day and he said he would return around 2:00 PM. He arrived promptly at 2PM and finished the patched. Very pleased with his work and professionalism. When we first contacted Mr. Kerr it was just before the Easter Holiday but he called to inform us that he would be out of town and would contact us when he returned. He did.

Description of Work: Kerr Home Services did a large interior painting job for my townhome. The job went very well, especially considering that I had additional work done that was not originally planned for. Andrew Kerr was responsive, great to work with and oversaw the project on a daily basis. The crew was very professional, the quality was very good, and the price was reasonable. Overall, it was a very good experience and I will definitely use them again!

+ 0 moreKerr Home Services performed a bathroom renovation project on our 1920?s Evanston home. The bathroom was in need of a fairly major overhaul with new wall tile, floor tile, appliances, fixtures, paint, etc. Before we got started Andrew gave us a detailed plan of how the renovation would proceed, including a detailed quote. He checked back with me while I was deciding how and whether to do the project to see if I had any questions. Once I decided to proceed with the work Andrew was able to recommend a great tile supplier that had an excellent selection and great prices. When the work began Andrew?s team did a nice job respecting the house and keeping things clean (which my wife loved). They put plastic carpet protector down on our stair runner and put a zipper door in place leading into the bathroom. This kept the mess more or less contained to the bathroom itself. I don?t have a lot of experience with bathroom renovations, but I would describe the quality of the work as excellent. The shower and floor tile look great, the sink and toilet were installed accurately, the paint job looks good, and the fit and finish of the fixtures are just right. And the final price essentially matched the original quote provided by Andrew. While the work was underway Andrew as great at keeping in touch. Whether I needed to talk to him about something or he needed to inform me of something, it was always easy to stay in touch. This helped make the project run smoothly. After the project was finished some minor touch things came up. Unlike some other contractors I?ve worked with, Andrew was very responsive with these post-project items.

Three types of workers came over several weeks: a plumber, an overall handy man, a brick person. Mr. Kerr and all the others were straight forward and polite. I did not have to beg for information.
Description of Work: Fixed sump pump, fixed low hot water pressure, removed wall air conditioner and repaired wall outside and inside, etc.

+ 0 moreKerr also does home improvements. They are very efficient, quick, friendly, and very reasonable. They charge about $45 an hour. One thing I really liked about them was that all the guys use English as a first language. It just made it a whole lot easier. We knew that way everything that we wanted was being done right. They did great with the outlets. They did a very good job figuring out a creative solution for our old house, so that the work would look good. The only thing I did not like is that they were not very good with returning phone calls. I want to say they charged me about $1200, but I am kind of throwing that out in the air. I am really not sure.
Description of Work: I had about 7 electrical outlets installed inside my very old house by Kerr.
