Jeanne was great! I saw her reviews on Angie's List and went to her website and was sold. She helped pick out the colors to our new home. She met me at our old residence where my husband and I were still living to see our current furniture and colors. We then went to our new home so she could evaluate the space. At that first visit, I chose some possible colors with Jeanne. During the second visit, she brought big paint swatches and we confirmed the colors. The only snafu was that many of the colors that I originally chose were only available from one store out in the suburbs of Chicago. I wish I had known that during the first visit, because then I would have stuck with only Benjamin Moore paints. The reason for this is because we live in the City and if in the future I needed to touch up anything, I wanted it to be easy to obtain the paint again. Jeanne did help me rectify this during that second visit. We were able to find Benjamin Moore colors that were closely compatible to the C2 colors that I had originally picked. The whole process only took a few hours. She was very efficient and made the process go smoothly. Thanks Jeanne!

Hi [member name removed], Thanks for the great review. Much appreciated. Just an FYI in terms of touch up. They typically are not successful for 2 reasons. The texture created by the tool used doesn't match (brush vs roller) & paint color changes (usually gets lighter) after a few months/years on the walls. Not noticeable to the eye, but noticeable if you try to touch up in a visible spot. Am so glad you like the colors & I was able to find a Benjamin Moore color that was close enough for your Living Room. Best wishes for the Holidays in your new home!

My husband and I were taking over a condo that had been our rental property in Lincoln Park. It needed updating, to include painting, new furnishings, window coverings, etc. It was a daunting task, especially since I had not lived in the city for more than 30 years and I was living in another state at the time. I did not know where to purchase everything I needed and did not have the confidence to decorate the 1200 sq. ft. home. I contacted Jeanne and we talked over the phone and I arranged for her to see the unit, without me and take photos and do measurements for a floor plan from which to work. I received an email from Jeanne stating that she had tried to find a parking spot but after 45 minutes, gave up. She told me to measure the unit myself when I got to town and take plenty of photos and then we would talk. We did meet at a local furniture store, I described the unit but did not have measurements, my mistake, and we started looking at furniture. I had picked out a dining room table and chairs only to find out later that it would not fit the space. I did take her to the unit personally and she recognized some of the challenges I had been describing but she still failed to measure the entire unit to give me a floor plan. I don't believe she really listened to my needs. I specifically told her I wanted a 3 cushion, sleeper sofa and she was ready to order a 2 cushion because the 3 was too large. I found one on my own that fit. She took notes when talking to the and quot;in-houseand quot; decorator at the furniture store and when I asked her for the information, she just photo copied what she had scribbled and most was illegible. Jeanne knew I wanted modern/contemporary furniture and yet failed to tell me about a great furniture store, all American made, just 1 mile from where we met. I found the store on my own and ended up getting chairs, dining table and desk all from this one place. She recommended a window covering company who wanted to charge a consult fee when I had 3 local places highly recommended by Angie's List without any upfront charge. Jeanne charged a flat fee per hour and charged me for 2 hours prior to our initial meeting as and quot;preparationand quot; time.

Firstly, this review comes on the heels of an invoice still outstanding for my time. I just emailed it to her yesterday for the 3rd time indicating that in light of the fact that she was 60 days in arrears, previous emails had not been acknowledged in a reply & that payment is due upon receipt, I would have to impose a service charge going forward. So the timing of this complaint doesn’t surprise me. Description Of Work: Was actually far more extensive including selecting furniture for the living room, dining area, work space, advising on (verbal while in apartment) layout of all rooms, including 2 bedrooms, advising on bathroom renovations, suggesting a solution for extra prep space for cooking, measuring all the windows to obtain a ballpark quote for window treatments & measures taken to confirm dimensions of furniture selected, weighing in via email on selections she had found on the internet….etc (see below) Additional amendments to the record are: Yes. After trying to find a parking place (no guest parking was available) on a weekend, I did give up. That was 2 ¼ hrs (commute & driving around Diversey & Pine Grove neighborhood) of my time not charged to [member name removed]. I called [member name removed] from my car to let her know the situation & ask her if perhaps she could call the building to allow me to park somewhere in the garage. When I got her voice mail, I proceeded home. I thought that it would be easier, once she arrived in town, to take the measures & photos before we met. [member name removed]proposed that we go to the apartment together at which point all measures/photos were taken by me. I did offer to work up a floor plan for her & told her the approximate amount of time it would take & the amount she would be billed. I never got her reply or approval to do so. I still have the email thread as proof. I have no idea what she is referring to about notes taken while speaking with an in-house decorator. Quote sheets were prepared with style numbers, prices etc. I’m sorry that my handwriting is not the best. As for the sofa: we were in the store looking at the catalog together. If she had an issue with the 2 cushions she should have told me then, not after the fact. I can confidently claim that my projects are typically a happy collaborative effort. Good communication is paramount to achieving that. Because we had limited time when [member name removed] was in town & a very LOW BUDGET for a very LARGE PROJECT, I did spend extensive time preshopping/designing/planning to ensure this could be done within her budget. this included reviewing her "look book" that she compiled per my suggestion. I explained that I spent far more time on this than what I billed her. More like 6-8 hrs for the 2 hrs she was billed. Perhaps the scribbled notes she’s referring to are the notes that I was compiling during this process, tallying up the costs from several different stores & comparing prices. I was doing all this to save us the time of running from store to store when she was here. Had we done so together without my preplanning, it would have been way more than 2 hrs. Obviously, my effort on her behalf was not appreciated. My goal always is to make sure my clients get the most bang for their buck. I don’t know what store [member name removed] found on her own…Chicago is loaded with them. Because I charge by the hour, I winnow it down to the stores with the best selection, best prices & customer service. [member name removed] wanted & did go shopping on her own & I recommended that she check out a store (perhaps the one she claimed she found on her own). I showed her pieces on their website that would work for her. I’m quite sure this is the same place as she emailed me pictures afterwards asking me what I thought. As for my window treatment guy, his measure/consult fee is waived upon ordering. My clients are advised of that upfront. His prices are more than competitive, he always takes care of my clients & any issues that might arise post installation. I can count on him. Furthermore, she was given a ballpark quote prior to an appointment. I’ve worked hard over the years to assemble a top notch crew of suppliers & resources with whom to work. However, if clients have other people that they like, that’s fine. That is why my fee structure is hourly. I’ll shop & help you make good design decisions wherever you want to go.

It was a good experience. She was thorough, and, while a bit allergic to my dog, tolerated him with patience. We accomplished a lot during our time together and it was the springboard we needed to get the room finished.
Description of Work: I consulted with Jeanne about coordinating wall color and furniture color in our family room. I had a media cabinet and sectional which I was hoping to use as the starting points for choosing wall color. Jeanne was prompt, scheduled an appointment quickly with me, and was very helpful in attacking the list of items I wished to discuss for the room. She recommended wall colors, lighting, suggested placement for pictures on the wall and confirmed we were going in the right direction with the carpet color that had already been selected.

Jeanne helped me pick out furniture based on my tastes and I am thrilled with the results. She was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. She even made the 1.5 hour trip to come out which I was very appreciative of. Jeanne also gave me suggestions on how to decorate the kitchen and referred me to her window treatment guy which I will be working with in the near future.
Description of Work: I had Jeanne come out as I was drawing blanks on how to decorate my new home - specifically the living room which is narrow and not easy to decorate. Additionally, I needed suggestions on window treatments and color coordinating everything. Jeanne took measurements of the living room and windows and we started discussing ideas. We then went furniture shopping and picked out a rooms worth of furniture. A great experience!

Initially I had to decline the Member request, but in the end he agreed that given the scope of the project, my 4 hr minimum and travel fee was doable. Typically traveling to outlying areas is prohibitive as I don't charge for my travel time so on a case by case basis I determine the minimum time required. Happily we were able to accomplish everything we had scheduled for our initial meeting. There is still more work to be done & we've agreed the next appointment will be in the city to shop for his floor coverings and dining room furniture.

Still a work in process. I'm sure it will be terrific.
Description of Work: Jeanne is working with me on a long-term plan for staging my house in order to sell it sometime in the future. The project involves coordinating color through out our house so the color flows from room to room and focuses on updated colors likely to appeal to future buyers. At the same time, Jeanne will be taking into account our current furnishings, including "editing" various pieces. I have worked with Jeanne for seven years during which she has helped me select colors for many of my rooms -- sometimes updating the original room color several years later. In the family room, for example, Jeanne helped me choose was a lovely deep shade of red five years ago and then last fall help with the conversion from red to a terrific gray, creating a very updated feel for my family room. In addition to the wall color, she helped me choose a light sand colored fabric for a new family room sectional which has proven to be indestructible in addition to being a wonderful contrast to the gray walls. Jeanne is sensitive to the feel of a traditional home and makes certain the color of the wall as well as furnishings are integral to the over all design; wall color doesn't trump design in her work -- it a lovely backdrop. Jeanne is truly a wonderful resource and it is a pleasure to recommend her.

Member, like my other loyal clients, is a dream to work with. I'm really enjoying this two prong project; getting her Kenilworth home market ready as well as helping her with their custom build retirement home in Wyoming. We've forged a friendship over the years so an invite has already been given to go visit them after they are settled....albeit a ways off.

Jeanne was a real pleasure to work with. Professional and fun. We had no idea what we wanted and she guided us to great decisions. Her recommended painter was hit it out of the park and the window treatment vendor was easy to work with, but we eventually decided against the treatments since we plan on selling the condo soon.
Description of Work: Jeanne visited us twice: Once for a color consultation for our entire 1,000 ft condo and the second with a window treatment vendor.

Jeanne helped us select wall color for all rooms/areas in our condo. We were completely overwhelmed choosing colors for an entire condo and she was a true pleasure to work with. She quickly came up with color options based on some art work and bedding. She also insisted on getting color samples and taping them on the walls which actually changed some of our initial selections. We also sought her advice during our ktichen tile backsplash selection. She had a lot of great ideas for decorating, as well as some great suggestions for inexpensive rug selections. Jeanne led us to great color selections and wouldn't think twice about using her services again.

Jeanne was very easy to work with. She is prompt, as well as flexible with her appointment times and more than willing to work around our schedule. Within two visits we were able to finalize our carpet decision and narrow down paint colors for each room. We have since narrowed it down further by ourselves and are now extremely happy with the decisions we’ve made. It is very impressive to watch her work-- she clearly knows what she’s doing as she flips through the fan deck. She spots colors that I never would have noticed or considered, but actually quite like. She also makes excellent use of time. On her second visit she came right in and within one minute of walking through the door said and quot;I see you've decided to go in a different directionand quot;, which was great to see that she doesn't waste time AND that she remembered exactly where we'd left off a month before. All in all, we figured that spending a few hundred dollars to get some professional help was essential before making a $5000 carpet decision. Jeanne streamlined a process that for us that seemed daunting and left us paralyzed by indecision. We are grateful that we made some big decisions in just a couple months and we now get to enjoy our new rooms! We would definitely call her again and will certainly refer her to friends and family.

Jeanne helped me select over a dozen interior paint colors that fit well with my tastes, bedding, area rugs, furniture and cabinetry. We were able to leverage most of the existing window treatments to save costs. She helped me make decisions by considering things like line of sight (when you can see multiple rooms from one spot), dark and light hues, amount of natural light and continuity between rooms. Jeanne is easy to work with and is willing to take as much time as you need to feel comfortable with your choices. I am very pleased with my house -- it's the first time it really feels like my own! I have already recommended her to a few friends and I would hire her again. I also like the simple hourly rate billing model.

Other than selecting paint colors for my rooms, I can't think of anything more daunting than having an interior decorator walk through my house. It's a little like having a five-star chef over for dinner when you're just a mediocre cook. But within moments of her arrival I knew I had made a great choice. Regardless of your budget and where you are in your decorating journey, I highly recommend Jeanne LaCasse. She's prompt and professional and extremely helpful with whatever your challenges may be. She's also very down to earth and a pleasure to work with. Not at all intimidating! Jeanne made recommendations on paint colors for my entrance and hallway, living room, dining room, kitchen and family room. I loved that she gave me different color options for each room. She also helped me by suggesting types and color of window treatments, as well as recommending the color that would look best for my kitchen cabinets and countertops. In addition, I received help with regard to area rugs and furniture placement. If you have a vision that isn't going to work, she gently lets you know and explains why it won't work. If you need vendors such as painters, she has some she's worked with for years that she can refer you to. This has been a very easy and fun process and I can't wait to see the end result. Check out the stunning portfolio on her website and don't hesitate to call her. It's a small investment in making your dream home a reality.

Jeanne is a delight! I found her to be down-to-earth, experienced, professional and very easy to work with. Conscious of cost, she suggested that she not work on any drawings at this point until I had her ideas reviewed by my contractor for structural integrity. The bathroom expansion/closet relocation idea was approved by both the contractor and plumber as structurally viable. As I move forward with this project in the coming months, I plan to seek Jeanne's advice on fixture placement and selection of all design elements from color, tile, furniture, window treatments, fixtures, etc.
Description of Work: We are just starting the process of remodeling/redecorating the second floor of our 1947 home. I hired Jeanne for her space redesign ideas prior to a general contractor appointment. Our two major space concerns were 1) the smaller of the two baths was the master bath--could it be expanded? and 2) could a too narrow hallway leading to a room addition be widened to accomodate larger furniture options in the room? Jeanne came up with a very creative idea for the bathroom expansion that includled the relocation of the room's closet and also had an idea for the hallway.

Jeanne was wonderful! We loved all the paint colors, tiles, and counter top that she helped us choose. My husband, who was hesitant to use a decorator, was really won over by both her ease and insight. We will definitely use her for our next project!
Description of Work: Jeanne helped us choose paint colors for all rooms in the house. In addition, she helped us choose tiles for the bathroom and laundry room. And she helped us pick a counter top and backsplash for the kitchen. Jeanne was also wonderful about supplying names of venders that she liked and trusted. Being new to the North Shore, that really helped us out.

My budget was very limited yet she worked within my narrow parameters to provide multiple innovative ideas including: excellent paint color recommondations for cabinets and new walls, consultation and recovering of a sofa, connections to multiple resources for drapes, decorative hardward, and even a ceiling fan provider. She wanted to make sure everything was right so she even brought three paint colors and painted a large piece of paper and placed it on the wall to ensure the color was correct. (This was much better than the small chips from the paint store) We had some delays with fabric deliveries for my sofa and she kept me regularly informed and acted as an advocate on my behalf. I asked for her advice on an area rug and she went with me to ensure the right selection. Jeanne is very easy to work with and can adapt to multiple diverse needs. Jeanne communicates very well and always met my high expectations.
Description of Work: Jeanne provided a vision of re-doing my much outdated kitchen into a French Country kitchen and family room combination. She helped provide ideas for the kitchen, provided fabric options, drapery styles, paint options, decorative hardward, ceiling fans, cabinet ideas, and countertop materials. The dollar amount is the total I spent on the kitchen. Jeanne's total services were only $800 - $1000
Jeanne - met with us for the first time to discuss the potential project for an hour of colorizing our main living area. We must admit we were a bit skeptical because we live in an art deco exterior building and have a room full of wood, wood tables, chairs, floors in IPPY, with a simple crown molding, and both antique to modern 1950s decor but all wood, black or gold in this 20 x 60 room (approx.), and believed Jeanne's expertise and taste to be a bit more traditonal than or eclectic lifestyle with very modern tastes. Well to say the least, she came back with paint colors for walls (kitchen and main room), leathers for reupholstering couch and fabrics for window treatments when we finalized colors and fabrics, and we found ourselves comfortable and excited. We used Jeanne's services for reupholstering the couch and making drapery but decided to use our own painter (with whom we have an excellent relationship). Our room is now colorful and transformed. We are now comfy in the largest room or our home. All in the process took over 3 months waiting for fabrics and leathers but well worth it and I feel great turn around time. The piece that put me over the top was the my grandmother's couch. We never dreamed it would look so amazing especially now that we are starting to wear in the red leather a bit. My mom even commented if I knew it would look that good I would have kept it. Next, we need art work for room. We would highly recommend Jeanne and will use her services as long as we are in the area.
Description of Work: choosing paint colors for kitchen and main room choosing fabrics for living room drapery/curtains, style of drapes, had made and installed choosing leather for antique sofa (my grandmother's), ordered, reupholstered, made new cushions, stripped and refinished wood trim, replaced all nails antique gold, picked up and delivered sofa
Excellent. I think Jeanne is awesome and a joy with to work.
Description of Work: This is the second time I used Jeanne. A year ago I wanted to change my wall colors and I hired Jeanne. I loved what we selected with the wall colors, so now it was time to update my living room furniture and dining room rug; so I rehired Jeanne. I e-mailed Jeanne and she replied almost immediately. We talked on the phone and I provided her a general idea of what I was looking to do. We then set a date for her to stop by the house for measurements and then onto shopping. I spent a total of approximately 6 hours with Jeanne from looking at rugs to a new couch and chairs; we had a fantastic day. At the first retail center I was able to find the two rugs that I thought would fit my decor and I liked. We then moved onto the couch and chairs. Jeanne had contacted the retails store before we arrived and informed the manager of the types of furniture I needed, so when we arrived, the manager had time to research their furniture inventory and provide us ideas. I knew the types of colors for my couch and chairs and we both selected material samples, but Jeanne helped me narrow down the selections. I guess it was my day, because I was able to find exactly what I was searching. I assume when shopping for furniture, it doesn't always happen that you find exactly what you want on the initial day, but I am a quick decision maker and know what I want. So when I find it, its an easy decision. If I didn't have Jeanne, this would have been a very time confusing and frustrating process. Jeanne made it fun and an enjoyable day.

Both projects went well. The condo building is happy with the color selections in our lobby (especially since the new paint color scheme compliments our floor tile much better) and I am happy with the 2 colors Jeanne helped me select for my personal space. Jeanne was punctual and professional and arrived prepared for the meetings and I enjoyed working with her.
Description of Work: I used Jeanne's services for 2 separate projects. Initially she consulted with our condo building board to choose paint colors for our lobby and to choose fabric to re-upholster seating in our lobby. I also personally requested Jeanne's services for my own condo because I wanted to change paint colors throughout much of the space.

Overall, I was highly dissatisfied with the consultation. The Designer arrived promptly. However, I have a dog and she is allergic to dogs. In the telephone introduction, she failed to ask me if I have a dog and she did not divulge that she's allergic to dogs. So I had to place my dog outdoors while she was in the house for the consultation. Then, she curtly asked me what I wanted from her during this visit. Since I was paying for her time, I expected her to describe her design process and I wanted to hear her initial thinking about my project--initial observations and ideas about colors for the rooms. She described her color decision process as collaborative with client, reviewing colors from a fan deck. I explained that I do not want to sit and review a fan deck with a designer, that I want a designer who will present me with ideas, options based on how to solve my problems and satisfy my interests. I felt that she lectured me about the process--a process that I am highly familiar with due to my service business and having worked with interior designers before. She demonstrated absolutely no interest in learning anything about me, my tastes, likes/dislikes, what I do for a living and how that impacts my personal taste, or my husband's tastes. One aspect of the possible project--space planning--never even came up due to clear personality differences and my attention to time to avoid paying beyond 1 hour. She came into the house unprepared. When I asked for her initial observations and directional ideas, she had to go to her car to get a fan deck to be able to provide some ideas. Again, I paid for her time. I did not ask for free advice. I learned that this designer and I were not a good fit.
Description of Work: I called the interior designer after finding her service listed on Angie's List. I requested an in-person consultation to determine if appropriate for project. During telephone discussion, Designer informed me that "because she's so busy" she charges for initial consultation regardless whether hired. I accepted terms, $100/hour for initial meeting consultation.

Response from Jeanne LaCasse The Color Consultant
Prior to my meeting with The Member, we had a lengthy phone conversation that included a description of my design process and her complaints about previous designers and the resulting problems that she faced. It didn’t occur to me to raise the topic of my dog allergies as this has never been an issue or “bone” of contention (pardon the pun) over the course of 10 yrs and nearly 400 clients. When service providers come to my home, I ask them if they are allergic and if so remove my pets to a secluded area. Upon arriving at her home, I did indeed ask her what she wanted to know from me during our visit. How this was construed as being “curt” is beyond me. I thought I was being respectful in asking precisely what her agenda was for our meeting. She has already outlined in great detail her specific needs during our phone conversation & yet this was not to be a “working session”. So I was a bit baffled and merely needed clarification on what she wanted to accomplish. Unfortunately, her claim that “I had to go to my car for my fan decks in order to provide her with initial observations & directional ideas” is utterly ridiculous & blatantly untrue. In actuality, as I was touring her home and giving her “initial observations, design directions & ideas about color” it became clear to me that she was not comprehending what I was telling her as she kept repeating the same questions. It was at this point (1/2 hr approximately) that I asked her what more she wanted from me. The response was a blank look & no answer and so I offered up bringing in my fan decks so that we could get into more specifics. She agreed to that suggestion. My car was just outside her door. It was not until the close of our meeting that she said she didn’t want to review a fan deck with a designer, that she preferred a presentation. I let her know that whatever process she preferred would be fine with me. She told me that she needed to think about which method would work best for her. At no point did I lecture. Given her experience, it was frustrating that she was not forthcoming with pertinent information even when asked. Example: She wanted to change the color in her husband’s office. I asked what she didn’t like about it. Her reply was that it had to work with the adjoining bath. The adjoining bath had dark grey tile. Anything could “work with it”. Had this been her office I would have pressed for more feedback, but decided to table the topic until her husband was present. The reason we didn’t address the topic of space planning for her husband’s office is because we engaged in a specific & prolonged discussion about color choices, repurposing window treatments from her master bedroom to the living room, and art placement. However, she did not have to “review the fan decks”. I selected 3 color options for her LR/DR combo & stairway from the 1000’s of choices available and let her know my thought process in the choices made. After hanging the fabric samples in the room, I determined that the drapes from her bedroom would not work in the living room and the reasons why. The piece of art that she wanted to relocate to another wall was too big for the space. A picture (your home) is worth a thousand words. Designers learn a lot from simply observing the choices the client has already made. She had already given me a ton of information over the phone. Moreover, this was a relatively simple assignment; the majority of which was picking neutral colors to work with what she already had and wanted to retain. Had I been hired, and with both parties present, there would have been plenty of questions regarding his office, both in terms of color & space planning. My clients know that I am personable, strive to make the design process fun and easy, and that I am far from curt, condescending, uninterested, etc.

We were very pleased with the outcome of all our rooms. With her expertise, we selected a carpet to complement our brick wall in our family room-- one we would have never chose without her help. And, it looks great! We are also very happy with the tile and paint- they make the space look great and we love it. When we originally chose the colors for the living room and the samples came, we didn't love them and she was great in helping us find a color that looked great and one that we loved. We will definitely use Jean again in the future, and highly recommend her.
Description of Work: Jeanne has come over twice. The first time she came to consult on paint and carpet for the family room, girls's bedroom, and tile and paint for the mudroom. The second time she consulted on paint for the kitchen, living room, boy's bedroom and bathroom.

Jeanne was great to work with. She was funny and warm. I'd use her again.
Description of Work: Jeanne and I had two appointments. During the first, she looked at my existing furniture and then traveled with me to a townhouse we were about to purchase. She spent a long time with me picking out potential colors for a number of the rooms. After we closed on the purchase, she came back and brought large, color samples. From those we narrowed down the color choices for each room. She completed the visit with a written color plan and samples for my files.

Once again, I am absolutely delighted with all we got accomplished and with the huge impact it will have on my living space. When I was looking at upholstery fabric (again sources Jeanne suggested), I commented to the salesperson that Jeanne never makes me feel bad. I am intimidated about home decor, and Jeanne is very, VERY easy to work with. As I said, she never makes me feel bad. Don't get me wrong. I'm sure she does an excellent job with highly opinionated, very experienced clients who have unlimited budgets and huge homes. But, what's important to me is that she can work with my preferences, my existing pieces, and my lack of knowledge/experience. She is an expert at assessing a client's style and then enhancing it with her professional expertise. I would highly recommend her to anyone who even thinks about getting advice on color or any aspect of interior design. Her prices are very reasonable considering the amount of work we get done.
Description of Work: Three main areas: choose paint colors, review lighting in the dark! living dining room and kitchen, and select and place art in living/dining room, hallways, office, and bathrooms. Colors: Choose colors for ceilings, walls and trim in large living/dining room and halls, master bedroom, master bath (thank goodness!!!), and home office. This is a two-part process, First Jeanne and I looked at small swatches of color from Benjamin Moore, Pratt and Lambert, and another type called C2. Then she brought large swatches of color and, for some, small cans of paint and poster board. Jeanne painted the poster boards with the colors that weren't available as swatches. Then she gently and methodically helped me compare the options for the different rooms. For example in the bedroom, there were choices that were more toward gray and others more toward blue. First we narrowed it down to the blue group and then we chose from that group. For the home office, Jeanne suggested some light grays, but I decided I wanted something a little more vibrant, and she easily switched gears. For the lighting, Jeanne suggested task and general lighting, which could make use of my existing task lights in the short term. She also suggested specific lights from a specific source when I was ready to upgrade. In our second visit, I mentioned that they were a little expensive, she explained that that supplier had lights on sale in September. Also, we reviewed the lighting in the kitchen, and on her suggestion I will remove 2 (odd) fixtures and replace them with a track light. The art groupings were done after the wall colors were chosen. Jeanne asked me to identify which of the pieces I really liked (for whatever reason) and she made sure to incorporate those. She did a large grouping for the living room, a smaller one for the dining room, and suggested where to put another large painting. She made two groups for the hall, and identified prints for each bathroom that carried out the color scheme and "feel." She suggested the kinds of frames I should look for for a large print (for the living room) and for three smaller pieces in the hallway groups. We also hung all the pieces--though not in their absolutely final places because the painting hasn't been done. Jeanne carefully measured and placed the pieces so that it would be much easier for me to rehang them after the painting. Also, I bought towels between the two times Jeanne visited, so she could give her opinion of the colors. We also reviewed the new chairs I had bought, and Jeanne offered a reupholstery option for one of them that I wasn't happy with. Also, I wasn't sure the LR rug went with the new chairs, so we talked about that as well. We probably talked about other things as well, but I just don't remember.
