I have used Hanson in the past for smaller jobs and was pleased with them. This time I have called four times - twice left messages and twice spoke with someone who said the scheduler would call me back to schedule repair work for that I had already received an estimate for. I cannot get anyone to respond to get our job scheduled.

The work was performed. The came a few weeks earlier than schedule since they were in the area.

Everything went well - the response to obtain the proposal, the pricing, the scheduling, and the work itself.

During their work on my neighbor's house, Hanson crews have been unprofessional; they have moved garbage bins from our property to deliver roofing materials or park their trucks. This would be totally fine except for the fact that they've always left the bins strewn about, usually blocking the entrance to our own garage. Two days ago I returned home from an errand and found my garden waste bin wide open and blocking my garage entrance yet again. When I got out of my car to move the bin back to where it belongs on my property, I noticed construction materials (such as used caulk containers), a pizza box and lots of uneaten pizza crust had been thrown in the bin, clearly left from the Hanson Roofing crew. I phoned their office to complain (first about moving the bins and not returning them, secondly about the waste being improperly disposed of) and was reassured that the crew would remove the garbage from the garden bin and ensure they didn't block our garage entrance in the future. Unfortunately this morning the garbage is still there. I now have to go out and clean out the garden waste bin to avoid a fine by the City of Evanston. Suffice to say on this basis, Hanson will NOT be doing my roofing job.

The work was done on time and professionally. Previous contractors had cleared gutters using leaf blowing equipment and leaving a serious yard cleanup to be done afterward. Hanson responded to my request to avoid these sloppy methods. No mess.

I contacted the vendor and could not get an appointment for an estimate for about three weeks. When I finally managed to get a estimate, it was much, much higher than any of the other estimates I received.

Great, and they gave me good advise for keeping it clean going forward.

Hanson is an established company, and did a thorough professional job, and cleaned up completely. They were on time and polite. This is not what you get from many vendors, and most welcome.I'd use Hanson again and recommend them.

Very prompt whenever I have an issue. They will check up after work has been completed. They always clean up after themselves.

Besides a little difficulty in communication during the bid/contract process, Hanson was responsive, professional, and nice. I'd hire them again.

I contacted Hanson Roofing via Angie's List and gave a complete assessment of the problem that I was having and what I was interested in having done. I never heard back from them at all.

The workers showed up on time and did a very good job. They repaired the plywood and replaced the shingles they had to take out. A very good job done well with little fuss. Can't ask for more.

I called Hanson Roofing on the recommendation of a relative and because they do work for a contractor I have used before, so I was motivated to use them. Unfortunately, from the very beginning and continuing through to the end, dealing with Hanson was extremely negative. I called the office to make an appointment, and it took several weeks to get back to me. As I said, they came recommended, so I waited for the call to be returned and because the repair wasn't an emergency. There was just evidence of a minor leak in the roof as evidenced by a small area of water stain in the second floor bedroom ceiling that required attending to. After the first delay in returning my call and giving an excuse (I'm not debating whether the reason was legitimate or not), I set up an appoinment for an estimate with George. He walked around the house, got up on the roof, did some sketches, took some photos, did NOT go into the attic to examine the roof from inside, and left. After several days of not hearing from him, I had to call him and ask about the estimate and time frame. Again, more excuses for not getting back to me, but I finally got the price and date. Friday, the day of repair came and went. No crew, no work, no phone call. I call the office on Monday to ask what happened, and am told the foreman will call me. He does and apologizes and says they'll be out the next day. The next day, no crew, no work, no phone call. Another call to the office, another conversation with the foreman, more apologies, and another promise of the next day. The next day, two guys show up. I don't speak Polish, so I'm unable to communicate with them about details about the job so I can be sure they know what to do. They do some work and leave. A few weeks pass and, on a Friday night, we receive the first rain since the repair. Never before did we have water actually streaming into the bedroom where the stain on the ceiling was, but wouldn't you know it? Now we do! These guys actually made the original problem worse! Before calling George, I check out Angie's List, which I should have done at the very beginning, and find a highly rated roofer, who, it turns out, another relative has used and recommends. I call him, and in spite of it being a Saturday, he picks up and we make an appointment for the next week. Then I call Hanson and get George's voice mail. No Saturday hours for Hanson. I leave a message for George, half expecting he might check his voice mail over the weekend, but no. George calls back on Monday morning again apologizing with an excuse for not getting back to me sooner (again I'm not questioning the legitimacy of his excuse) and offers to come out again, this time so he can go into the attic and take a closer look and the problem, and he offers to have the repair re-done at no additional cost. Needless to say, I declined his offer to continue this charade and told him after all I went through, I have zero confidence in Hanson Roofing and don't want him or anyone from his company any where near my roof. My recommendation, call someone else to do your roof repair. I feel it's necessary to apologize for writing this review, but I also feel it's necessary to be honest about the poor service I received.

Hanson estimated $250 to fix. It was a simple job replacing missing flashing, and they only charged me $140. I originally got an estimate from another roofer for $1500. They said skylight needed to be replaced. I questioned them about needing to replace skylight, and they said when they did work if it did not need replacing it would be about $750.

I have used Hanson for over twenty years. They have replaced a roof and performed numerous repairs. NOBODY can beat Hanson for quality,honesty and integrity.

They were very good, and they didn't make my minor issue a large project.

I have used Hanson Roofing in the past, and used them again here. I had a roof on a three-car garage that needed replacement before its time. Hanson figured out that the venting system was not working right, and replaced it with mushroom vents facing where we do not see them. I have a new roof and should not have a repeat of the problem. They even through in an extra vent for no charge to make sure the problem did not reoccur. My house has several additions and several roofs and roof types. This can create problems, especially where the roof sections meet. In one of these sections we had moss growing and water was not properly draining. Hanson found the problem and did something to fix it, while many others would have just redid the roof as it was and not address the issue. The work did take a bit longer than expected (a little more than two days instead of one), but I am a big believer in I would rather have the work done right the first time than quickly for any job. It is this professionalism, doing the job right that most impresses me about them. Hanson stands behind their work. They will not tell you to get a roof if you do not need one. They do a quality job the right way the first time. I highly recommend them.

Originally scheduled for November but winter hit early and never let go. They have been doing this for our building for years. Have had to call them back once or twice but they are good about doing it.

After discovering a roof leak we contacted two roofing companies, one being Hanson. Hanson's estimator was very professional, didn't waste time, and quickly discovered the source of the problem without getting up on the roof. After submitting a very competitive bid that was half the price of the other local company, we decided to go with them. They quickly repaired the roof and our home has been dry since. We will absolutely do business with Hanson roofing again.

Since that time there have been a few issues. When I have called Hanrahan, at first they say they'll be right out. And then slowly they don't call back when they say. Then they don't return calls and then never show up and go radio silent. Bottom line - once they have your money, it's over for you.

They were great! They were professional.

They were very prompt in sending someone out to look at it and provide an estimate. It took several weeks for them to perform the work, but that was not a problem. They provided the most reasonable estimate, vastly different than the roofer who wanted to replace ALL of the shingles on the dormer.

The office person was polite and put me on hold after asking about the job and my address. I mentioned our address was on the north side and near the Evanston border, since their company is located in that city. When she came back on line, she said that "We dont go that far into the city. Sorry". My problem with this is that the contractor should clearly state on the list that they do not work in certain geographic areas or beyond a certain mile area from their headquarters. Why waste everyone's time and interest. It is unprofessional and really not plausible given the economy and how far other contractors travel for work. If the job was too complex, fine. Say so. Please find a way to take care of this so that future prospects do not run up against this type of issue if travel was truly the problem..

They came on time, were professional, and I have no complaints.
