In July of 2022 we hired Gorman Restoration to refinish our front door. The carpenter stripped the old, wood veneer and replaced it with new veneer that was then stained a beautiful dark walnut. Unfortunately, in less than a year the veneer began to peel off. I contacted the owner, Lucky and he honored the warranty. The door was redone at no cost and it looks better than before. Also, the carpenter was able strip the veneer and then showed me that the wood underneath was in excellent condition, so he stained the wood without adding the veneer. So much better and without the worries of the veneer peeling off due to heat and moisture. I highly recommend this company.

Awful experience. Lots of promises and even more under-delivery. Hired him to strip and stain my deck. They talked me into replacing the decking and then staining it. Deck now looks worse than it did prior to the work. The stain has left dark spots in multiple areas, and in some instances Im convinced they used paint and not stain as it looks like a completely different surface. They also left a pile of extra wood on our driveway for multiple weeks. that I eventually had to pay to have taken away. One of his freelance crew members came out to review the work and indicated that they clearly did not apply the stain correctly, and indicated he they would likely have to redo the whole project. Weve called multiple times to have him address it. Always told were at the top of his list but he never shows. Its going on two months now and we written him off. Do not hire Gorman Restoration

His proposal came in at $2,600 for the storm window portion of the project. His proposal stated it would take a "Team of two journeyman carpenters for installation over two days." This implied it would take 32 hours to install 6 storm windows. I know for a fact I could install each window in an hour or even less. I emailed him thanking him for his proposal but I decided to go with someone else. He called me to see what he could do to earn my business. I told him his price was almost triple what Evanston Windows had proposed so I decided to go with Evanston Windows. Before I could finish my explanation he literally hung up the phone on me. So I called him back to check if we were disconnected. He said were not disconnected and said he did just hang up on me. Super rude and unnecessary. He could have at least ended the conversation with a "good bye" versus hanging up on me while I was politely explaining why I went with another company.

The job turned out great. We are very pleased and plan on using Lucky again on some other projects we have in mind.

Very professional job. Came in with tarps for the floors. Knew exactly what they had to do to resolve my issues. Very happy with the service provided and would definitely recommend for electrical projects.

Superb. The handyman saved at least a thousand dollars compared to what the foundation company would have charged me.

Overall, it took over a month to complete both parts. Got the deck repairs done quickly but then waited for weeks for the wash/stain. To be fair, some delays were due to weather and others because they did not order the stain in advance. I was satisfied with the deck repairs although I thought the price was high for the amount of time they spent. The cleaning and staining went better....the stain was hand applied.

Lucky and his team were great. They arrived on time and were very professional. Gorman Restoration provided quality work at a great price. I would highly recommend Gorman Restoration!

Worker appeared on time and completed job in expeditions manner. Quality of work is excellent! Color matches exactly after he utilized his own paint.

Horrible. This has been a nightmare. They took my deposit, made me purchase 4 gallons of paint from their friend, told me they would complete a list of work satisfactorily. None of this was accomplished. The pressure washing wasn't complete and they had to send someone out to redo. When the "painters" arrived they had no idea what the project was because Lucky subcontracted them and never gave them details. They started the job but stopped and left the stairs blotchy and unfinished. They also spilled the stain on the concrete and now it won't come out. They left without providing me an update or a date when they would return to finish the job. Lucky never returns emails, calls, or texts. I finally called and emailed and said not to come back. Of course he hasn't even bothered to call and apologize for destroying my property. I will be looking for someone to finish the job. Save yourself the hassle. Read the reviews . The bad ones are true. The good ones are clearly lying or bribed by him. After the first meeting he told me he would pay me to write a good review. Guess they needed the $5!

I initially inquired on line, and they called me that day. The job was scheduled for the following day. Brian did a good job and did it well. We talked about what could be done and the most reasonable way it could be taken care. I am pleased with the final product.

This is the second time we used this co. They came promptly to an emergency call to replace a broken pane of glass. Did a great job replacing the glass, staining the door and replacing hardware on the outer doors. Happy with them and will use in future.

Overall, we were satisfied with our end results, however, because of the in between drama, I would probably not use this company again. Read below for details. Lucky was recommended to us through our leasing agent. He gave us a reasonable quote for the painting work that we needed done so we went with his company. From what I understand, he contracts out all of his work. So, you tell him what you need and he finds the people to do it. Here is where it got dicey. The people he originally got to do our work said it was going to require more work than originally thought and would cost more, they tried to take advantage of me and wanted to go under the table. Very shady. After a lot of back and forth, that painter quit in the middle of the job and Lucky had to find someone new to do the job. The next guy was GREAT and got all of the work done in a very professional, timely and quality manner. Thankfully, there was no lapse in time between subcontractors and the work was finished in a timely manner and the work got done. Lucky was professional throughout it all but there was a lot of arguing about price. However, when all was said and done, he got the work done for not too much more than our original quote. Because of the drama, I would probably not go back for future services but I can't speak poorly about his quality, responsiveness or punctuality because the end result was positive and we were overall happy. If it were not for the poor quality of character of his original painters, there would have been no problem.

Most expensive deck sealing I ever had. Provider tried to tell me in middle of project that he had mismeasured and wanted to charge even more!!! I refused and he did honor his original quote.

This service was absolutely terrible. I could have done better work. He was never punctual. The bathroom work created a leak that came down into the kitchen which had just been repainted.

They provided great service and were prompt. They did a great job.

They did an awesome job, showed up at scheduled times and were very communicative about when they would be at my home (which was great because I had to arrange to work from home). They also fixed it immediately and the pricing was very reasonable. I am super impressed and would recommend them to anyone and certainly use them in the future.

The leaked within a month. Turned out I had to call out someone else to actually repair the spot where birds had nested (was untouched) and eventually had to redo the flat roof. The flashings were not properly done from the start and the prior work was poor. None of this was noticed by Gorman, who just threw some tar on it.

Horribly. Do not use Lucky Gorman under any circumstances. His people/subcontractors were very nice people and had excellent skills (although he couldn't keep anybody for more than a few days and found them on Craigslist), but he often did not pay them. I rarely saw the same workers more than a day or two at a time. In spans of "no shows", I heard every excuse in the book, including that one of them was in jail (?). He was full of empty promises ranging from when they'd show up, what would be done, etc.. A job that was supposed to be done in a few weeks took MONTHS and was never completed. He always wanted money, but the work was far from acceptable in timing or quality. I finally had to file a claim in court to get rid of him and then never heard from him again. I have owned 20+ properties and have worked with MANY contractors-- good and bad. On a scale of 1 (awful) to 10 (superb), Lucky Gorman is a negative 100. Sorry to say, but it's completely true!

It went fine. No problems what so ever. A little pricey.

The underlayment, the header over the garage door and some of the studs were also rotted out. Lucky was able to quickly bring in another team that was able to handle the job. They put up the header and the studs, replaced the insulation, put up new plywood, wrapped the house in tyvec and put up the siding. I was very impressed with the quality of the work. They did the little things like cutting each piece of siding on a 45 degree angle when they were fitting the pieces together. Once they started the work, the second team was finished in around 4 days. They did a good job of cleaning up, and they came back to fix a storm window that they broke and to stick a piece of insulation in the wall where they removed an old window A/C unit. Lucky also did a temporary fix on our green house so that it is sealed up for the winter, and he came back to replace a pane after it fell out and to put up light fixtures that the carpenter left off the house. There is nothing left that Lucky did not take care of, and that is extremely rare when dealing with any contractors. Overall, I am very satisfied with the work. The carpenters were pricey, but the quality justified it. My only complaints with the project are that the first carpenter took down too much of the siding and it took a while to actually get the project started. The extra siding adding some cost for materials and labor that were probably not necessary.

We requested a quote for a minor project that involved replacing 4 small basement windows, attaching two bookcases to the walls, and attaching handles to the bookcases. Lucky Gorman and his partner measured all windows (old and new), confirmed that they would install the windows and attach the bookcases in 2 days. Based on their quote, we signed a detailed contract and Mr Gorman charged our card for a 30% deposit. On an agreed upon date, Mr Gorman arrived 2 h late with 3 subcontractors. He fired two of them in an hour after a loud dispute. After that, Mr Gorman realized that he did not have the necessary tools and left for 2 h to find them. By the end of the day, Mr Gorman had one of the 4 windows half-installed. At this point, he stated that he needs a lot more money from us than what we had in the contract. Reason: the work is taking longer than planned. We were surprised and requested that he continue per contract. There was rain in the forecast , so uninstalled windows in the basement were a hazard for the house. This is the situation that Mr Gorman attempted to leverage. He refused to continue and left without cleaning up, while leaving broken glass and debris all over the property. For three more days he continued asking for more money, while retaining the 30% deposit. Thus, Mr Gorman charged us for 30% of the contract (deposit), but completed less than 10% of the work, while leaving the house in a hazardous condition and causing damage to the house.To conclude, Mr Gorman appears to be an unscrupulous unreliable contractor, who does not honor contracts and leverages vulnerable situations (unfinished windows) to extract money from customers. Additionally, he uses untested hourly paid subs that he sources from the street on a project by project basis.We strongly recommend against hiring Mr Gorman and Gorman Restoration.

I have been trying to get in contact with this provider and confirm our appointment on Wednesday and I have not heard from him. I am waiting on Angie's List to see if they can get in contact with this provider.

They never once bothered to call me.
