Ended up hiring another company, but George from Evanston Awning was very impressive. Punctual, knowledgeable, able to provide clear explanations and recommendations.

The awning was picked up in September 2014. It was not returned until May 2015. There are maybe 6 emails and phone calls promising "this week" for sure in between. I did not call between December and spring 2015. When it was going to be installed, maybe April 2015, it had not been cleaned yet. When it was installed, the angle was not at 90 degrees and the sides were not secured to the house. They did come out within a week and reinstall it and fix the problems. Everyone I spoke to was always nice to deal with. They took a considerable amount off the bill for all the inconvenience. In the end, they built a sturdier frame than the one that was damaged and made a 6 year old fabric awning look pretty good. I went to this business, in spite of the fact that they had a lot of reviews on Angieslist that indicated disorganization. Those reviews are no longer there. I liked the idea of supporting a local business. I am really undecided about whether I would work with them again. It was inconvenient at worst. And, in this case, I did not miss the awning during the winter.

The price was reasonable. We were very pleased with the work. It was the right place to call.

They have niche in the Evanston Awning market and they are very reluctant to go out of that niche.

Overall the experience went fine. The estimator was excellent. The only disappointment was that it took a little longer to take care of than what I had expected. They didn't do a nice job of covering up the old holes in the siding. They said they could caulk the holes, but if I had them do it they would probably charge me extra.

A representative came to our house to give us an estimate for a project. He was right on time and very friendly, which is why I gave an "A" for punctuality. Everyone who answered the phone was very friendly. Yet, even though I made multiple follow up calls to ask about my estimate, two weeks went by without receiving an estimate, nor the courtesy of a call to say that they cannot or do not want to do my job. I don't know if they do good or bad work, but it just seemed very unprofessional to blow off a customer that way.

There was one small flaw and I called them to fix it they guy came out right away but they couldn't fix the problem.

EVERYONE WAS VERY NICE, FROM THE SALES REP TO THE INSTALLERS. THE TIME IT TOOK TO FINALLY GET THE AWNINGS AND THE FACT THAT ONE OF THE AWNINGS STILL IS NOT REPAIRED IS INEXCUSABLE. I HAD TO MAKE TOO MANY PHONE CALLS AND HEARD TOO MANY EXCUSES FROM THIS COMPANY. I WILL NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.

THE ALUMINUM AWNINGS ARE GIVEN TO A THIRD PARTY VENDOR. THEY ARE NOT DONE BY EVANSTON THEMSELVES. OUR AWNINGS WERE PIECED. IT IS VERY NOTICEABLE. THERE ARE DENTS IN THE AWNINGS WHERE IT TIES TOGETHER. WHEN I DISCUSSED THIS WITH GEORGE, THE SALESMAN, AFTER INSTALLATION, HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. LARGE AWNINGS NEED TO BE IN 2 SECTIONS AND WHEN BOLTED IT NEEDS TO BE BOLTED TIGHTLY. WE THINK IT COULD HAVE BEEN MADE BETTER. THE SECOND FLOOR AWNING WAS A SLIGHTLY CROOKED.

WHEN I VISITED THE STORE THE WOMAN WHO HELPED ME WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL WITHOUT BEING PUSHING. SHE SPENT A GREAT DEAL OF TIME EXPLAINING THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS AND TYPES OF SHADE STRUCTURES. I FELT THAT I COULD TRUST THIS COMPANY. THE MAN WHO CAME TO GIVE THE ESTIMATE WAS VERY KIND, FRIENDLY, AND APPROPRIATE. THIS IS A FAMILY BUSINESS AND I KNOW ONCE THE SHADE STRUCTURE OR AWNING IS ORDERED, THE WOMAN'S SONS WILL BE INSTALLING IT. PRICING IS APPROPRIATE, ONLY COMPARED WITH ONE OTHER COMPANY WHO WAS A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE.
