Estrada Fences

Our back fence was about to fall over. They replaced three posts and a gate. the job was done quickly and punctually. All work was done on site. They could not have done better.

Originally tried to do it last year, but the company got busy and the season ended. I called them again because only few companies do small job. He remembered me, and he gave me the same price he gave me last year. Two guys installed the fence in a few hours, and it looks great.

We loved the end results! I wanted to replace an old broken fence in my backyard and wanted an affordable, good quality contractor. I called Luis first then I called few other fencing companies rated all 'A' on Angies' list. When I called Luis, he was very responsive and accepted to pass by my place on same day. He gave me two solutions to satisfy my range price and assured me that he uses first quality Cedar wood for his fencing and that I would be very happy with the end results. I sensed that he is honest and trustable but wanted to check other companies to compare. One of the fencing companies came over and gave me an outrageous price estimate, another one did not want to come in after finding my range price and the third one gave me a Home Depot solution. I made up my mind to give the job to Luis and trust my instincts. Luis accommodated my schedule again and set up an appointment to start working on the same week. That day was raining so I assumed he will call and cancel. Instead he showed up as scheduled at 9:00 AM. He had two contractors with him, he listened to my many requests (not destroying the hydrangea, make sure the fence was robust and cleaning up, etc...); he translated them to Spanish and told me he will be back in the afternoon as he is supervising and coordinating two other jobs that day. The two workers were pretty active under the rain and did not need supervision. They worked all day with a short lunch break. Around 3:00 PM they were finished and asked me for the hose to clean up. The fence was looking and smelling great and solid in place! Luis arrived and made sure I am happy with the job. He advised me to stain the fence to keep the cedar look fresh. I am considering it. I will refer Luis to any one of my friends and neighbors. He is honest, reliable, professional and provides fist quality services and materials. He also have a good relation with his contractors which seems to be build on mutual trust and respect so supervision is minimized. It was a great experience with Luis Estrada Fences and i want to share with all.

This is a tough one. I wish I could grade them B+. Many nuances. Mr. Estrada is a very nice guy. I'll start with the positives: We wanted to the fence replaced just as the old one had been. He gave us a quote end of fall last year but we decided to hold off because winter was rearing its ugly head. He honored that quote this year when we were ready to go ahead. His worker showed up on time and finished in two days. When issues came up that went afoul of our desire for the replacement to mimic the previous fence, they made changes and did what was necessary to comply readily and willingly. Mr. Estrada himself spent a whole day running around to various home supply stores looking for just the right post caps. Negs: I wasn't real nuts about their respect of property, ours or (even worse) our neighbors. Garden on one side well-trampled. Lots of (our) junk left on the other's sidewalks overnight. Fortunately, the latter neighbor is friendly and understanding. The former, well, whatever. Also, they filled up out three refuse containers (garbage, recycle, yard waste) all with garbage. And as for the fence itself, well, it's fine, but I have to wonder: another quote we'd gotten (a good deal higher) specified #1 grade cedar. Estrada made no such specification. The wood he used is rather rough-hewn and knotted. I'm guessing this isn't grade #1. But hey, he made no such claims. All in all it was a positive experience and I would not discourage someone from using them. Just go into it with wider eyes that I did. Oh and, by the way, if you make an appointment with Mr. Estrada, be aware that he usually shows up 20-30 minutes early, so take your shower well in advance! ;)

This was a very positive experience. They were on time and this was a good deal.

It went very well. They did a great job. They were professional, punctual, timely, and we were very satisfied and I would definitely use them again.

The crew did EXCELLENT work very quickly. Prompt, friendly, great work.

Our back fence posts were loose and the gate was swinging open and the dog was escaping! We called Estrada and he came the next day for an estimate and then completed the work the day after that. I very much appreciated how quickly he could come because the open gate was a big problem for us with children and a dog, and the cold weather is about to make fence repair more difficult. He was personable, professional, and seemed trustworthy.

This was not a fancy job, but the guys were responsive and competent. I got a good price for the amount of work they did. It was four guys working for about 7 hours including materials. We used treated wood instead of cedar and it's not as pretty. I did have to ask them why the fence faced in on the left side of the gate and out on the right side of the back gate, and they said, no problem which one do you like better we will fix it. These guys were capable and willing to work hard, but definitely needed direction.

On October 19, just yesterday, I called several large fence installers before calling Estrada, and they all had minimums in the $400 range. I told this to Mr. Estrada, and he said he had no problem with doing a smaller repair for a smaller price, if that's what it turned out to be. I was really pleased that he quickly scheduled the estimate for 9AM this morning. He came at 9 on the dot. He looked at the job and said he could do it. There was no hint of trying to get me to consider a new fence. I just wanted a repair, and he went with that. He offered a price which was less than half of the big fence company minimums, and we quickly came to an agreement. He said he might be able to come back today to do it. He said if he couldn't do it today, he would get it done tomorrow. It turned out that he was back around noon with one of his guys,and they were done by 1PM. I'm really really amazed at how quickly this all happened and really pleased. Yesterday I had a bent, beat up fence. Today my fence looks just like it did before the tree fell. This was great service.

They were incredibly quick with an estimate. The estimate was exactly what we ended up paying. They also walked us through the permitting process with our county, which was fairly tedious. They gave us a bunch of samples to choose from. In addition to that, there are a couple of us that are all trying to coordinate this work and he was great with touching base with the people that he needed to touch base with. Definitely followed through and when we were ready to go, they were done in 3 days. So it was just amazing. Hopefully we?ll never have to put another fence in, but if we do then we will definitely use them.

Will definitely use Estrada fencing again. Found them on Angie?s List. Called them about replacing 100 feet of wooden fencing that was falling down and repairing parts of another fence. They were prompt in giving me the quote. The price was reasonable. They scheduled the work a week later and showed up promptly. The request was for replacement of the fence with similar quality materials and finishes. The materials, posts, finishes, and workmanship in the new fence were much higher quality than the old fence and high quality than expected. I am not saying they built the Taj Mahal, just a good fence that was better than expected and at a good price. There are some ?B? rated companies on this list that will charge you twice as much and deliver less quality. I used those companies in the past before I found Angie?s List. Not sure how to describe this. We had a miscommunication about the scope of the work. I was not able to be there when the work was completed as I was called away. I called them a few weeks later as I was not able to find my paperwork promptly. They were very reasonable about trying to satisfy the customer and doing everything within reason to make sure the job was done correctly. It turned out to be a non-issue, my mistake, and no more work was needed. However, the reason I want to give them a high rating is not just the soundness of the work, but their willingness to try to make things right when there might have been a problem. I thought it was a great example of that Midwestern conscientiousness about work which is a great thing about this area. Just to summarize, it turned out to be a non-issue and no more work was needed. Lastly, since they had to tear down and remove the old fence, I also asked them to quote some extra teardown and removal work of old junk playground equipment left by the previous owner. They gave me a fair price. They not only tore down and removed the old equipment, the workers cleaned up the area which was not expected and which was not easy. I will definitely use Estrada fencing again. The price was fair and the only surprises were good ones.

I received a free estimate but was told I had to pay for travel as well due to the approximately 23 miles for such a small job. They did a good job. They took out all the posts and dug for new posts. It was a clean job. I will have them back again when I need more fencing.

I would definitely not hire Estrada Fences again and here are the reasons why. 1. They never finished the job. Luis (the owner) promised 100% satisfaction, but when I tried to call him about my concerns he wouldn't answer his phone or return my calls. I had to call him from a different phone number to make contact with him. He eventually came back and addressed some of my concerns, but the work is still incomplete. 2. Construction on the smaller fence was done in a very sloppy manner. This smaller fence was so crooked, out of square and not even close to level. The fence still has crooked balusters, was missing at least one baluster and the overall spacing is terrible. And when they came back to fix these issues, they never cemented the posts back into the ground. They just dug a big hole around the posts they had to move, broke up the initial cement footing and pushed dirt back into the holes. 3. They spray painted the entire job on my front lawn. The paint is uneven and applied so poorly that even before the first rain, the metal was already rusting. And the metal feels like sandpaper because they didn't remove the dirt and welding slag before spraying. Now I'm forced to pay another contractor to sand and re-paint the fence before winter. 4. They didn't remove the waste from the job. All concrete they had to remove to set the posts was just scattered and buried in the front topsoil. Now I'll have to pay a landscaper to remove the concrete chunks before they plant. 5. They had what appeared to be a 16 year old boy in charge of the crew. This young man didn't really do any of the work though, it seems his only job was to be the interpreter from English to Spanish. Apparently, none of the other crew members spoke English. I never saw Luis after the start of the job, he only came back to collect his money. Until all the problems are resolved, I rate Mr. Estrada's work as a firm "D".

I contated Estrada Fences and spoke to Luis who came out the next day to give me a quote. We had a very small job but he worked with me and gave me a good price. We needed a wood gate at the rear of the garage, some repairs to secure loose panels on an existing fence and to realign an iron gate at the front of the house. He scheduled a day and time to perform the job and completed everything. We were not home when the work was completed and he followed up at our home to make sure we were happy with the work. Estrada Fences did a great job and Luis was so easy to work with. I will absolutely recommend and contact Estrada Fences again. It was truly a pleasure to work with someone that showed up on time, did the work promised at the price quoted.

Estrada Fences did good quality work very quickly -- they completed everything in one day with six guys building our fence on site. The only negative was that they dumped some of the dirt from digging new post hole on some of our plants in one of our beds. We didn't think to suggest places they could dump the dirt ahead of time, and they didn't ask. Luis was really good communicating otherwise throughout the entire job (from estimate to completion of fence), though, so perhaps this just slipped his mind. We didn't notice until the next day, so we couldn't ask him about it when they were here.

Mr. Estrada and his employees did a timely, beautiful job. The new fence is perfect!

I called Luis after finding him on Angies List.It was after 5pm so I only expected to lv.a message.He answered and said he would do our estimate the next day.He showed up on time,had a portfolio of other work he had done and also told us he could design any fence we wanted as long as we drew or showed him a photo of it.We decided to go with Luis for many reasons.First,he is the owner and said he comes at the beginning and end of the job to ck.it out.Second,he was genuinely interested in having the job.Other estimators seemed indifferent about it.Third,he did not push us to get the alley fence done when we inquired about it as others had done.Fourth,it was a fair price and I felt he would work to make us happy with the finished product. He gave us a date he could do the work.We got the permit($80.00 additional from Oak Park) and he came at the appointed time with the workers.They worked from 930am to 5pm.The fence is beautiful and has definitely improved the value of our house.I would hire them again in a minute! I wish all our construction experiences were like the one with Luis!!

We had a railing come loose on our deck and I wasn't even sure what type of company to call. I called this fencing company because it had a A rating and I realized why. The owner who is a very nice person worked it into his schedule to come and look at the railing that same day. He saw that it was a small job and said he would be back the next day to take care of it. He actually came by that same day and secured the railing back on the deck just as good or better than it had been. He saw it as a small job. It wasn't small to us though and my only concern is that I didn't pay him enough. These are the companies that you hope do well and that deserve awards on Angies List.

We needed to have the fence down to allow the landscaping company access to our back yard. Estrada finished a few days ago and they were fine. They reset the posts in concrete. They were here probably about 4 hours. They had to walk on the area around the fence, I understand that, so I had my landscaping guys back over to smooth out that area and reseed it. There was no way around that, but nothing else was disturbed. The price was good. I would have them back for other work if the price was right.

Monday - Based on the rating on Angie's list, we called Luis Estrada and he promptly came over the same day to measure and estimate cost. Tuesday - Cost estimate received and the appointment was scheduled for the following week. Following Week - Fence demo and installation complete! In TWO days. The work that Luis and his team did was nothing short of fantastic. Luis was responsive, thorough, professional, on time and on budget. The team was professional and hard working. They hauled away the old fence, garden debris and many large rocks discovered while digging up the old fence. Upon completion, they left my yard in such a tidy state it looked as if they had never been there. The new fence is beautiful! I would absolutely recommend Estrada Fences. Their work is excellent as is their customer service.

Great experience. Luis was prompt, professional, and performed all services as explained. When we needed a minor adjustment to our gate latch (after fence completed), his crew was back at our home within two hours. Fence was custom built. Very satisfied.

He doesn't live too far from us. He came out and did the estimates, giving us a quote pretty quickly. We couldn't get the other quote until later in the week. They scheduled the appointment and were very professional. The man that came was very professional and well-informed.

I will probably use them, although I am not sure. I haven't decided yet. I wanted them to put up the fence and I also wanted their advice, since they build fences all the time, on what would look good and what other people do. I thought they were really good. The guy was easy to talk to and he understood what the current laws were about fences. I trust him to do it. He showed up when he said he would. His professionalism was pretty good.

I had 3 other estimates and their estimate was the least. They did an excellent job and their cost was just right. They did the job ahead of schedule and in a better way than any of the other estimates that I would have got. I would have them come back and do just about anything and I would recommend them highly to anyone.
