Bijan Solutions Handyman Service

Bijan is fantastic. I hired Bijan Solutions to patch several walls in my vintage condo that were majorly damaged by a previous TV installation. The previous installer had to run cable through the walls in several rooms. Bijan patched about 25 to 30 holes and touched up the paint in those areas. I added a couple items to the job which were to paint our entry way into the home, and to take a look at a broken lock that was part of an old vintage door. Bijan did a great job on these items as well. I would definitely recommend. Everyone in my condo building uses him for their handyman needs.

They were awfully expensive and I did not use them. He is from Evanston and must have been charging me Evanston prices. He came on time when he told me he would be there. He was perfect until he sent me the email with the quote.

I contacted Bijan through the Message Center to see if he could handle fixing the tile on my fireplace. He confirmed the project was in his wheelhouse, and said he would stop by the next day to inspect the fireplace. I confirmed I'd be home all day. He did not show, never called or messaged, and I haven't heard from him since. Went with another provider.

Bijan repaired 2 holes in drywall. After repairing the drywall, he repainted the surface. Bijan followed through on every step of the process. He showed up, on time, for the estimate. He showed up, on time, for the repair. He did what he said he would do and we are pleased with the work. We would use him again.

He comes promptly and his work has been great. We've had him work for us at least 3 or 4 times and have recommended him to other people.

Some type of fix-it, I don't remember. But the guy was super nice, punctual, and knowledgeable.

Very professional. Bijan stopped by a week in advance to review the work we wanted completed then he provided a price quote for us to review. Afterwards, we set up a time for the work to be completed. Everything was completed as agreed.

We couldn't be happier with Bijan's work. The result is top notch, exceeding our expectations. Additionally, Bijan gaves us valuable advice during project planning and he was always helpful-but-not-pushy with his opinions. We look forward to hiring Bijan again.

The guy who came did a very good job. He did a lot of handyman work.

He stopped over the day after I called to assess work that needed to be done. I appreciated the fact that he removed his shoes (it was raining that day). He scheduled a time convenient for me. He spent about an hour and a half completing the repairs outlined above.

He was fine. His work is good but I think he is a little expensive.

We have used Bijan before for handyman services and have reviewed him highly. One of the recent jobs he did for us involved some painting, which he performed very well (like everything else he does!). So we asked him to do some painting that we had been planning to do for several months, and he did a really terrific job. Just another reason we keep calling him back!

It went very well. We ordered the doors at the local store, called when they came in, and the rest just happened. Would highly recommend Bijan.

He was excellent. I went back and fourth on the size of the door. He came and measured the door. I call him multiple times. His communication was great. He picked up the door and installed it. He did a wonderful job. If I need any work on my doors I would call him again.

We completely concur with all of the positive reports that others have given about Bijan. He is prompt and professional, and he cares about doing the job right. When there are options, he presents the pluses and minuses clearly. He is also very adept at handling everything from doors, painting, and hanging to plumbing and electricity.

Bijan arrived a bit early and went right to work. He brought virtually everything he needed and worked quickly and without interruption, asking questions when necessary. The work involved shaving down several doors, repairing an outdoor gate, and installing ropes in a number of windows that were missing them. By and large, the work went very well. The gate is in terrific shape and is a vast improvement. The window sash cords were installed without trouble as well. (In fact, I would be at fault not to note that, on his own time, Bijan drove to two hardware stores to find a replacement for a missing pulley for one window. He did not charge me for that time and it certainly wasn't something he was obliged to do.) My only unhappiness here is that I noticed after he left that several windows were a bit messy. He necessarily had to disturb the painted frames to do the work. I would have been happier if he had completely cleaned up after himself, though. The doors were a bit less successful. In one case, he substantially improved a problem door. He realized it was still not perfect and asked whether I wanted him to keep working. I, too, was unhappy with the result. It was an unquestionable improvement but was still a problem. I agreed that, given the time he had spent on it, the best thing was to leave it and move on to the next door. But after he left, I discovered two things: first, that had he simply sanded down an area that was left untouched, the door would probably have worked without any issue at all. He took a lot of wood off the top and bottom, but the sticking point and the problem was clearly (now) in the middle, which he left untouched. The second problem I had is that this was a white closet door. Bijan removed the door so as to work on it more easily. I completely understand that. But his hands inevitably got dirty. And so I had to spend some time cleaning the door. It cleaned up easily, so that's not the issue. I just would have expected that he would have done it and not left it for me. All in all, I'm fairly happy with the work. My experience pretty much reflected other people's happiness with him: he is punctual, careful, responsible, and unfailingly polite. Though the two issues I noted bothered me, they are not serious enough to detract from his overall grade. I guess I'd just be a little more careful next time to monitor the work. (I add this note on Nov 7 2013, well over a year after the work was completed. I do so because my grading has bothered me ever since I first submitted it. I believe that I was a bit too generous. I stand by my review and have not changed a single word in it. I only add this note to explain why I am dropping the grade from a A to a B on "Quality." I honestly believe that the issues I noted in the original review are important enough to justify dropping that single grade. In fairness, however, I will say that I intend to contact Bijan again shortly for more work--but this will involve insulating a crawlspace where the appearance of the finished work and the cleanup are less important and won't show.)

Bijan adjusted to my challenging schedule and was able to look at the work I needed to have done and send me an estimate very promptly (within a day or so, I believe). The biggest problem for me was the stopped up sink in the master bathroom, which two plumbers had looked at and were unable or reluctant to fix. I had just about given up on it! When Bijan came out for the estimate, he suggested I check with my neighbors to see if they had similar problems (they didn't). When I showed him the bathroom door that wouldn't close he quickly diagnosed the problem as loose screws and perhaps a misaligned strike plate. Bijan also provided alternatives for fixing one of the bifold doors and explained the pros and cons. I went with the less expensive option. Bijan arrived promptly at 9:00 a.m. as agreed and he very matter of faculty went to work. He had very few questions because he listened carefully when he came out for the estimate and because he is experienced and thoughtful. When he was out for the estimate he had noticed that a corner of the wallpaper in the bathroom was loose, so he used wallpaper glue to stick it back down. I needed to run out for some errands, and Bijan was willing to hand off keys to the housecleaning service while I was out. I particularly appreciate that he is low key, attentive, and knowledgeable. (I hope other members don't confuse his low-key approach with a lack of interest or ability.) I've used him in the past, and his work has always been excellent. I highly recommend him and have referred him to a neighbor who lives in the same building.

A positive experience all around. Bijan stuck to his estimate, finished the job on time, worked quickly, cleanly, and quietly and was friendly to my family. I couldn't have had a better experience. I am selling my tools and hiring Bijan for all of my home repairs.

I was using him for the second time. He was friendly. He talked to me and explained what he was doing. He did the work when he said he would and made sure that he understood what I wanted. He did the work well. He checked with me to make sure that the work was done the way I wanted it. He worked without bothering me. He completed everything the way he said he would. He took a little bit more time than he said he would take. He does quality work, but is a little more expensive than some others.
