Watch your contracts....they did a bait and switch. After signing contract...didn't realize till it was too late, their changes. All that was mentioned with the contract change was a raise in materials. The contract had language not on the original; Used different materials, not all work that was listed on the original contract was done. We did have a leak. They came back and used tuckpointing cement on the new roof to patch. I went up there with silicone caulking and went over it. When the roof was inspected, they gave information to the inspector that was not true, i.e. materials used, pitching of roof. The roof was never pitched right. The runoffs we had in place before do not work. It looks like they covered up some vents. Also, did not realize Bartco was subcontracted by the original person we talked to. The roof was sloppily done, with glue left all over; markings. All we can do is hope that the roof doesn't leak

I contracted with Matt at MLS Construction who told me his guys would do all the work and that they were experts at doing all kinds of construction including roofs. When I got to the job site, I noticed that there was another company doing the work--Bartco. Matt said that Bartco was their partner, not a subcontractor. I'm dubious of this at this point as inquiries to Matt at MLS just directs me to contact Bart at Bartco directly. Three buildings have shown no sign of problems. However, one building has had multiple leakage problems from the very beginning. The installation took place in Fall 2011. During that first winter--just 2 months after installation, there were damaging leaks to the ceiling and walls of the living room. The company's first response was that after inspecting the roof, that the installation was done properly and that the problem was a "fluke" and wouldn't happen again. After many months of emails back and forth and our bringing in the expert opinions of others in the construction field, they finally agreed to investigate further and said they found that the ice and water shield had not bonded properly, and said they had now repaired the problem. Then, during the following summer 2012 during a heavy rain, another ceiling and wall area was damaged by roof leakage along the same roof edge. Whenever I complained to MLS (with whom I had contracted) Matt just directed me to deal with Bartco. Bartco stalled and stalled responding to this problem saying he was too busy with other work to deal with it--until it was winter. Then, after inspecting, he said he'd have to wait until there was better weather. Again, months went by with no action. Finally after multiple attempts to get him to do the repairs, in April 2013 after I threatened legal action against both companies, he came out. I would recommend that no one use either of these companies as they do not always do good work and do not respond in a reasonable and appropriate fashion when problems with their work arise.
