ANTON GREENHOUSES

Anton's has a very good and sometimes unusual selection of plants, both perennial and annual. Antons grows a lot of their plants, and, as a result, the plants are in better condition than at stores where the plants are raised elsewhere then shipped in. Late in the buying season, though, some of the remaining plants are a bit distressed, not surprisingly. I like the varieties of Nicotiana that Anton's carries and also their Petunias. The plantsmen and women there are well-informed and responsive to customers. You can learn a lot there. However, the selling staff are sometimes not all that nice to customers. It varies. Anton's is one of my favorite places to buy plants.

I have bought plants from Anton's many times, and I thought I had written a review before. I have been to practically every nursery/greenhouse within 10 miles of Evanston, and Anton's is my favorite hands down. They are very knowledgeable, and they have lots of variaties that aren't available at other nurseries. In particular they have a ton of heirloom tomato plants for less money than anybody else. They are way cheaper than Home Depot and Loew's, and much better quality, and they are much cheaper than Chalet. They have a lot more vegetable plants to choose from than Chalet does too. Anton's grows a lot of what they sell, and most of what they don't grow, they purchase from a relative who has an even larger greenhouse near Kenosha. If you buy more than one flat of plants, they always offer to help you carry your stuff to the car. Anton's also grows some vegetable transplants that are ready to plant in your garden in August too. I just bought some broccoli and mesclan transplants there last week, and they were only $1.25 for a 4 pack. They also had some kale and collard transplants for sale for the same price. Vegetable transplants are hard to find this time of year. I have bought flowers from Anton's too, and I have been happy with those.

They have an excellent variety of plants and annual flowers and vegetables. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. The price is reasonable for the service, quality and variety. They take very nice care of their plants before selling them.

I love this place. I have been going here for 20 years. The staff is very knowledgeable, the prices are very reasonable, and the quality is excellent. They also have a larger supply of vegetable plants than most nurseries do. Last time I was in the place, one of the plants had problems, so she gave it to me for free, without me asking her to.

Wonderful! The people at Anton's are always very helpful and accommodating, and the selection is great. They deliver very promptly.

Anton's is a gem of a nursery located smack dab in the middle of a residential street. If you didn't know it was there, you'd never find it, yet it does a good business and has for many years. This is the place to go for spring flower flats and vegetable seedlings. The variety is enormous, and the prices are reasonable. Above all, quality is excellent. They also have a huge selection of potted annuals and perennials of different sizes and trees and shrubs. They also used to have pond plants, but this year I noticed they didn't. Maybe I got there at the wrong time?
