Solar Energy of Illinois

Spoke with James on the phone and he indicated that this was a job he could take on, BUT after many texts NO success. In fact he had me send a copy of ComEd invoice and then NO more responses.

From start to finish, I had great communication with James L., the project manager and a great install by Lukas, chief electrician and his team. They were timely with getting info to the county for permits etc. I had a 10k solar array and a more extensive and complex requirement and they met my needs. Its been 4 years now and going strong with no issues and they are happy to talk to me with my questions years later. That's customer service beyond the "usual".

They did a very good job. The installers all did good work and were very professional. The only problem I had was that I paid for the permit and he did not reimburse me, even though the contract said it was included. When I asked him about being reimbursed for the permit, he started making excuses and wouldn't give me an answer.

We contacted Solar Energy of Illinois on a referral from a friend. This was one of 4 companies we contacted in regards to getting estimates on having solar panels installed on our home. Jim and Marco show up at our house on time. Jim in a coffee stained shirt. In a car, no ladder no nothing. In order for them to get on our roof to do the estimate we had to rearrange our garage in order to get our ladder out so they could get up there. Every other company came prepared to look at our home. While there we discussed the state rebates that are available and the forms that needed to be filled out to apply for them. We explained that we are still looking but since you are here I will sign the state rebate form but not put in my personal info and that if we go with you then I"ll give you that info over the phone so you can then submit it. We talked with Jim on the phone and via email several times. Letting him know we are waiting on numbers from one last company. Then one day we hear the rebate program has opened up (it is only open for a short period of time each year) and that Jim has gone ahead and submitted our info for the rebate program. I WAS LIVID! I never gave him permission to send ANYTHING out with my signature on it and when I contacted him he tried to back pedal his way out of it saying that well since you were going with us we submitted the form for you. Second time I was LIVID with him. We hadn't agreed to go with them and had not signed any contract with them. The only thing that had been signed was the rebate for IN CASE we decided to go with them. Then it was oh no I didn't really submit it. I had the email showing that it had been submitted. I contacted their corporate office but no one would ever call me back. Needless to say we did not choose to have Solar Energy of Illinois install our solar panels.
