We have used Chicagoland Remodeling twice this year. The first time they installed a new Roof, 4 windows, replaced siding, replaced doors, installed wood trim around windows, installed overhead garage door, did some tuck pointing and also replaced broken glass block in our basement windows and ceiling fans in house. Our roof was in bad shape. Unlike previous roofers, they made sure that all rotted wood was replaced. They did a wonderful job. They took care of any complaints we had immediately. They made sure we were satisfied with everything before sending out the final bill. The second time we had them stain trim, paint, pull up old carpeting and replace with vinyl tile, replace broken ceramic tile and re-grout bathroom floor in our basement. We needed this done quickly because we were having company. They squeezed us in and worked all weekend to make sure it was done. Everyone cleaned up after the work was complete. The contractors were great to work with. Will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Installed ceiling fans, new roof, 4 windows, siding on back of house and garage, new back door and garage door, new overhead door, new skylights in roof, wood trim around windows, overhead garage door, tuck pointing, replaced broken glass block in windows. The 2nd time - stained wood, painted back porch, painted bathroom, replaced broken ceramic tile and regrouted, new caulk around sink, and toilet, pulled up old carpeting and replaced with vinyl tile.

Chicagoland Remodelers were great to work with. We noticed some rotten wood on the exterior of our sunroom, but weren't sure how much needed to be done. Wally explained everything to me and recommended replacing what was rotten, capping it all with aluminum and replacing our old gutters with new seamless ones and bigger downspouts. We had other contractors out who told us that all of our woodwork would need to be replaced due to rotting, but Wally showed me that a lot of it just needed to have the paint scraped. The other contractors never mentioned anything about the gutters. Wally looked at all of it to accurately assess what needed to be done. HIs quote was more comprehensive, will lead to less maintenance in the future, and was half the price of other contractors! The crew came out and finished the work efficiently. When the gutters were replaced, the crew decided it would be better to relocate the downspouts due the incline of the room and made sure to explain it to us and ask to make sure we were okay with it. We felt like they were thorough and constantly looking to do the best job rather than just getting the job done. The inspector from the village told us several times what a great job they did, noting many small details that were done well. The final cost came in right at what the estimate was. I corresponded with them primarily through email, which was a big plus for me since I have access to my email throughout the day, but answering a phone call can be more difficult at work. I did have a couple instances of emails not being received or sent, but the reason was unclear. It didn't interfere much with the progress and everything was cleared up easily with a phone call. It was a small price to pay for being able to coordinate most things via email.
Description of Work: Replaced rotten wood fascia/soffit, capped with aluminum, replaced gutters and downspouts.

We contracted Chicagoland to do the roof, porch and siding. The proposal was very professional and detailed, including all that we wanted to have done, broken down to sections. We had a choice to sign all, or part of contract; there was no pressure to do all.The overall price was the lowest of three estimates. We signed on all the work and then added a few extras (windows, gutters) We paid 50% down before the work started and then received the final invoice after all the work was completed to our satisfaction, including the extra work we asked for during the remodeling. The roof was done first and the work was done in two days. Then we had a week's break and the siding was started. That took a few days with breaks in between and was not finished until the porch was completed, but the work did not disrupt our routine and was not unduly stretched out. All the work was done in a professional manner and with a nearly perfect clean up. We are very happy with all the work and the house looks so much better! If we need any additional remodeling, we would definitely contact Chicagoland Remodeling again.
Description of Work: Re-roof with tear off on house and garage, siding on back addition and garage, soffit, facia, two new windows, gutters on garage, new wooden back porch.
Chicagoland Remodeling is excellent! I highly recommend them for all of your remodeling needs. They were efficient from the start--they responded to my call for an estimate the next day. Wally came out gave me an estimate and his team got started soon after that. Jack and his partner were so neat, clean and efficient. Trust me, I am hard to please and these guys were just great. They built a wall for us in a loft style room we had, then they added a good sized closet and a door to close off the room. This was a tremendous amount of work and they did it so quickly, in a couple of days. I am really happy with the completed room, and I will definitely be calling this company for anymore things I need done in my home!
Description of Work: They closed off a loft room for us--built a wall, a closet and added a door plus painted entire area including stairwell.

Wally came out on Monday, 5/20, and was very nice, took a look at everything, took measurements, etc. and said he'd have an estimate ready for me by Wednesday, 5/22. It is now June 5, and I have not heard from them, nor have I received any estimates, either by mail, email, or phone. Needless to say, we will be going with another contractor. UPDATE 6/8/13: I received a call today from them. They claim they left me two messages trying to get my email address so they could send the proposal, however I have no record of any calls or voicemails from them. Regardless, they did have my address so they could have mailed it to me, or dropped it in my mailbox as they are located not far from my home. In the end, their proposal was quite reasonable, so in another instance we would probably have hired them, but in this case we will still be going with someone else.

The owner Wally and his crew are top notch. Not only did they do an amazing job on remodeling our kitchen and bathroom, but they helped me in deciding process. I could not have been happier. I originally chose a backsplash tiles that was nice, but not amazing. Wally suggested that I follow Izabela to a tile store not so far from my home (about 30 minutes away) there she helped me to find an amazing glass tiles with a design in between. My backsplash looks absolutely beautiful. We had small issues with cabinets because the company I ordered from, did not bring all the pieces at once, Wally and workers had nothing to do until all missing pieces will arrive, so they decided to start doing our bathroom remodeling, which ended up so good and they did not waste any day. After cabinets arrived my bathroom was all done, the new shower with frameless doors and panels looks amazing, shower mud base tiles (small glass squares) looks incredible! On one wall they build in shower niche with a granite shelf on a bottom and installed a matching granite pc on shower sill (Wally suggested that, instead of tiles to prevent a future leaks) They did install the same tiles which I had in mud base inside the niche ?looks awesome!!! I would put more and more of description but the truth is that you need to see it, to see the beauty of it. Both my kitchen and bathroom looks amazing. I was really excited to move into my home on schedule. I could not be more grateful for ensuring I was able to move in on time and on budget. I called Wally again few days ago to get a quote on new roof and hardie board siding on my house, I received quote from Izabela 2 days later ( super-fast ) The price was very good, I got 2 other bids and Chicagoland Remodeling Inc were in the middle. Honestly even if they were higher than the other bids I would still hire them since I know them already and I know their quality of work. The bottom line is Do not hesitate to hire them , this is the good company. One of the best and honest on the market today ? this is the most important, they do not do more than they have to, and they did a lot of work for me. I trust them.
Description of Work: kitchen, bathroom remodeling, currently they are in the process of replacing new roof and installing hardie board siding on house and garage
they were very friendly, professional and clean. They worked quickly and cleaned up completely after themselves.
Description of Work: The team repainted exterior trim and all the ceilings inside the house. They hung 3 new storm doors, replaced the kitchen countertop and the kitchen floor and installed a new vanity in the bathroom.

This was not our first project with Chicagoland Remodeling, Wally and his crew remodel our house 2 years ago, they also provided excellent service. They were always on time, the workers did amusing job, they start from the outside work, after they did interior work. During the construction we noticed that our third bathroom was leaking, Wally performed a repair and he did not charge us for that, which was very nice of him. I will definitely use Wally in the future. Since start to finish Wally, Izabela and workers were very professional. They picked up all materials from the supplier as well as gave us few tips and recommend some changes which I absolutely love.

My house was built in 1927 and there are numerous things which need updating and/or repair. I chose several to begin with and called Chicagoland Remodeling. They had recently completed a job for my mother and I wanted to use them again. I initially met with Wally Szymanski at my house and we reviewed the work to be done. He offered suggestions and opinions which helped me with my decisions. A few days later I received an estimate by e-mail from Izabela. Each project Wally and I discussed was listed separately in the document and each included a detailed scope of work and the price. When I went to the office to sign the contract, Izabela explained everything to me and gave me a list of stores and web sites where I could purchase the bathroom fixtures and also get ideas for my future kitchen remodel. The price I paid is what was in the original estimate. There were a few things added during the job. Two by me and one recommended as part of the bathroom remodel. I was advised of the cost of each and decided yes or no before they proceeded. It was a pleasure working with Chicagoland Remodeling. I'm very happy with the work they did on my house, especially the bathroom which I love. Jack was in charge of my project and did an excellent job as did the crew. Jack followed through on any loose ends and made sure I was satisfied. The skilled workers were respectful, and worked hard. They cleaned up before leaving at the end of each day. The work was completed in a timely manner. This company has integrity and I trust them. They provide quality work at a fair price and stand behind their work. I know if I had a problem or concern they would come back and address it. I was out of town for a few days at the beginning of the bathroom remodel - they came and worked while I was gone (which was probably better for all of us). I would not hesitate to use Chicagoland Remodeling again and plan to contact them for my kitchen remodel. I?ve also recommended them to friends. Thank you Wally, Izabela, Jack and crew for a terrific job - well done.
Description of Work: Cleaned-up and painted outside soffit, fascia, windows, and front and back porches. Replaced back step. Installed new storm door. Replaced water damaged drywall above mantle in living room. Patched, sanded and prepared living and dining rooms for paint (I painted the two rooms). Replaced 3 electrical outlets. Bathroom remodel which included: completely gutting the room, installing new floor, walls, insulation, ceiling, fixtures, electrical, plumbing, removing radiator and installing heating panel in it's place.

Wally Szymanski took a look at the room at the end of April. We discussed what needed to be done. The next day I received an estimate through e-mail from Izabela detailing the scope of work and the cost. This is my mother’s house and after discussing with her, called and accepted the proposal. Izabela brought the contract to the house so my mother wouldn’t have to go out - which I really appreciated. She took the time to go over it with us and answer any questions. The day before the work was scheduled to be performed, Wally came by to check the measurements and buy the materials. He returned at 8 am the following morning with his brother Stanley. By 11 am the job was complete and everything cleaned up. Note: the ceiling in this room had been damaged from water. The flat roof was replaced a couple years ago, but nothing had been done on the inside. This room is used as a spare bedroom, but no one wanted to sleep in it because of the damaged ceiling and gaping hole. Thanks to Wally and Stanley, the room looks great and everyone who stays over now loves to use it. My experience with Chicagoland was excellent. I would not hesitate to use them again. Wally, Stanley and Izabela are professional, thorough and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: Removed acoustical tiles on ceiling of enclosed back porch. Replaced damaged 1x2. Removed molding. Cut ceiling where it had been damaged by water leakage. Installed new 1x1 tiles. Reattached existing molding and added new molding on one wall where it had been missing. Matched and repaired damaged wood around one of the window frames. Replaced one electrical outlet.

I live in central Wisconsin but am rehabbing my 91-year-old mother's building in Chicago. I made an appointment for 9 AM on 2-22-13 and drove in the 4 hours to my mother's building to meet with Wally Szymanski, the president of this company. I made the 8 hour round trip to Chicago only for this appointment. When Wally wasn't there by 9:30 AM, I called his office and was told he got tied up with "a problem" at another place. They contacted Wally who said he could be at our appointment in another half hour. Wally Szymanski arrived within this new time frame. I wanted an estimate for gutters only for my mother's building. He tried to drum up additional work, asking if I would be interested in gutters on the garage or the portico over the front entrance. This was a reasonable inquiry, but I said "no" to both of these options. In addition to the gutters there would be some work to the lumber the gutters would rest against. He said they could easily do this. Wally took measurements and said I'd have an estimate in 2 days. On March 15--21 days later--I contacted Chicagoland Remodeling to inquire about the estimate for this job. Four days later I've not gotten a response and wrote a scathing review on Angie's List--giving them all F grades. After Chcagoland Remodeling saw my review I was immediately contact by their office manager who said she sent me an estimate. Upon checking I found that the e-mail address she said she'd used was incorrect. While this is a possibility, it doesn't explain why they didn't respond to my follow-up e-mail on March 15. The day of their latest contact, I was sent an estimate for the work. The other reviews I've read on this website for this company are excellent. But I live too far away to deal with people I cannot count on to come when they say they will come, and do what they say they will do. To get a response only after my Angie's List review is too little too late.
Description of Work: To date I've simply met with Wally Szymanski to discuss the job and get an estimate.

gutters and spouts and replaced those. Overall, it went very well! They were very thorough and professional, and we highly recommend them!!!
Description of Work: They removed the entire old roof. Work was very clean. Then they put on a new roof. Helped us make the decision about shingles, etc. They also removed
The project began with the carpentry work performed by Machek and one more person. They took good care to make sure they covered everything in order to prevent the contamination of the house with the dust. The carpentry job was done excellent. When the time came to do the staining that is where the problems began. We where very unhappy with the person who was doing it, he did not seem to be professional. Our doors were new and needed staining, we were promised that the staining will be matched to our existing wood stain in the house. When I asked if i should order staining while the doors are manufactured I was assured by Wally (the manager) that it is not a good idea because stain might not match and that they will do it for us. I, myself, never stained anything in my life, have no experience with it at all. I do minor patching and repairing and painting myself just fine, but no staining experience. I totally trusted Wally on matching the stain and making the new doors looking just like all my other doors in the house. In the end we were presented with 3 different stains that are presumably present in my house that i had to chose from for my doors. I was not sure if any of them were good match at all, but again I trusted the expert. So after they stained the doors the color turned out to be too red and was definitely not what I have in my house. After seeing the results I was very disappointed and asked how this can be corrected. The expert said he doesn't know. That is literally what he said. I asked again is there any way to stain it any different color to try to neutralize the red, he said he has never done it before and he has no idea what to do.He said if we want to try to find other stain to put over we can go do that. Me and my husband went to Home Depot that night to see if we can pick up any other stain to try to neutralize the redness. We did find one and asked them to put one coat of it the next day, which they did. The result was better, but still the color was not matching. I was so frustrated I gave up on color. After the staining the doors looked unfinished and rough to touch and asked them why they look this way, when all my other doors are smooth and shiny. The said it is because they have varnish on them. So I asked if these are going to be varnished, and it looked like they were not going to do that at all. I said the doors do not look finished, it is not what I was expecting from staining. So I have learned that the doors have to be not only stained , but also varnished which I was not told by Wally in the beginning. They agreed to do the varnish at no cost and asked how shiny I want them to be. I said just like all my other doors. I expected to be dealing with the professionals and they where clearly not. So after varnishing my doors they where still rough. So I wrote an e-mail asking them what can be done about it and here is the answer from the secretory:"I spoke with Wally and to have a very smooth door you need to put several coats of stain, I can send you a painter but I will have to charge you per hr for the work. Regarding colors, we gave you what we use , usually Customer have they own colors , I am so sorry but that.If you have any additional questions please call to Wally ". Later I spoke with some people who know the staining process and they all said that after the staining the doors must be sanded before varnishing in order to achieve smooth and shiny door. I'v learned my lesson about staining. But this time I was ready to pay the professional to do it for me. Clearly they did not do a quality job and they were not willing to correct their mistake, very disappointing.
Description of Work: We have chosen this company based on good reviews in Angie"s List and good price estimate given. We needed to close down our family room and make it an office. The project included one drywall installment with the pocket door inside, french door installation (we had to provide the doors which we ordered through Lowes), painting of the entire room, staining of the doors and removal of separation railing between the kitchen and fireplace room with finishing of the floor where the railing was attached.

I really cannot say enough about this company! We have worked with Chicagoland Remodeling 3 times and every time has been professional, quick follow-up and the people working for this company are simply amazing! Our current project was a master bath/bedroom remodel as well as a wall created to make a den. I was just about in my 9 month of pregnancy when we received the quote which was very reasonable. They were not supposed to start the work until Mid-Feb but in realizing that I might have this baby anytime i asked that they move up the project to late Jan and they were more than accommodating. The people working on our projects showed up early everyday and were so polite, kept the mess out of the rest of the house and made sure we knew what was happening at every step. One day they had something come up and even called to let us know they would be a little late. Working with Wally the owner is just wonderful... so personable and really understands what you want and really delivers. Izabela who manages the office and the schedule of the projects is such a pleasure to work with and very responsive. I have referred them friends and will continue to do so. Our bathroom is SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I could not have imagined it turning out any better. We had hardwoods installed in the master bedroom and they are perfect. So happy with the project. We will be using them in the future as well for additional projects!
Description of Work: Servies we had done... Completely remodeled master bathroom, gutted down to studs and put back together. Hardwood floors installed in master along with paint. We also had them install a wall with pocket doors to close off a room to make a den. In the past we have had them do roof repairs and new gutter installation as well as refinish hardwood floors and other general work at a previous home

I contacted Chicagoland Remodeling (CR) for a quote on remodeling our family room. The items I was interested in were removal of wood paneling, installation of hardwood floors, replacement of drywall, raising ceiling, and installation of recessed lighting. Chicagoland Remodeling was slightly higher than other bids, but the detail in the contract, detail in work performed, and the quality of the materials used actually made it on par with others. After the initial demolition stage, we started to think of some additional adds such as additional outlets, dimmer switch, and putting drywall over a brick wall. We approached Chicagoland Remodeling about our additional requests and they were able to provide a quote quickly and told us they would be able to complete the adds in the original time frame. CR started on time, ended on time, and provided a higher quality remodeling than I had expected. They were able to accommodate additional work and surprises like finding out that half of our ceiling was filled with duct work, only allowing us to raise half of the ceiling and making it more complicated to install the recessed lighting. Having seen similar work done by other contractors CR had high quality workmanship and took time to do things right. For example one contractor told us to lay the hardwood floor over the existing vinyl floor. In contrast, CR bid was to remove the vinyl tile, install a vapor barrier, install a subfloor and then install the hardwood floor. I was also impressed with the high level of communication CR offered. Izabela in the office was always quick to respond to questions and details. I worked with her multiple times on the contract and she was always courteous and prompt. When I had questions about work being done while I was at work, it was easy for me to contact someone from CR on site either through Izabela or Wally. I couldn't be happier with the work or the service. We are actually pleased to have people in our home now...just because of the amazing improvements to the family room.

I called and some guy who sound like he was just waking up answered the phone very abruptly like he has the fish the receiver out of the sheets. He said "Hello!....." I thought I had the wrong number & was about to hang up but I first ask him "Is this a business?" He said "Yes...." I paused and I could tell my face had a confused looked. I then asked "Well what's the name of the business?" He said "Oh oh yeah um Chicagoland!" I said "Ok well I was calling to get a quote on some work I need done" He then took down my name and number, which by the way he struggled to comprehend. His English was HORRIBLE and I could barely understand him. I got the jest of what he concluded, which was that someone would be calling me back. It's hard to believe with all these "A grade" reviews that this company is so unprofessional. This totally turned me off I will not be hiring them and if they actually do contact me back, I will let them know exactly that! UPDATE 2/11/2013: I called the number right over there to the left sir! The one that "Angie's List" has provided. A MAN with a horrible accent DID answer the phone, and Identified himself as "Chicagoland". Whether you all service South Holland or not isn't the point, that also wasn't the location that I needed the work done at anyway. I own 4 properties, paid in full no mortgages. I decided to spend my money with a reliable and "professional" company that knows how to answer their phone in a professional manner like any business should.

We bought our condo in October 2010. In February 2011, our downstairs neighbor reported that water was coming into their unit from our bathroom directly above, which the management company of our association determined was due to an improperly installed rubber liner in our shower. We had three highly-rated contractors give estimates, and were extremely impressed with the professionalism and creativity of Wally from Chicagoland Remodeling when he came out to give an estimate. As new homeowners, we just wanted to have the problem fixed, not go through a lengthy or expensive redo of the shower; Wally was understanding of this and priced a replacement of just the floor, bench, and first row of wall tiles using existing tile left over from the previous owner's bathroom renovation. The worker who did the repairs was prompt, polite, and very careful about minimizing the mess. When the concrete floor was removed, he discovered the wooden subfloor and some of the support beams were rotted out, so he went out to the hardware store immediately, bought new wood, and replaced it same day. The project was still completed on schedule with the only additional cost being for the unexpected replacement of the subfloor. Best of all, the bathroom looks as great as it did when we first bought the house - the tile repair work blends seamlessly with the rest of the shower and floor. While I wish I had reviewed this contractor sooner after the work was completed, I can also say almost two years later, everything still looks great, nothing is leaking, and we have no complaints!
Description of Work: Replaced subfloor in shower, installed rubber liner, poured new concrete floor, installed tile on shower floor/bench/partial walls.

Very pleased. All went well, despite numerous problems that were hidden under old roof(s). Wally and his crew were professional and did a great job on the many aspects of this roof repair. I have always been very wary of roofers but I was extremely happy with the quality and speed of their work. I was at the site for all of the job and could not have hoped for better work. I will recommend them to friends and if I need this kind of work again I would have no hesitation to call them. Thanks Matt

Wally asnd Isabella, tne company's owners, were extremely helpful and professional from start to finish. They gave us great suggestions and ideas. Their workers very knowledgeable. One reason I love Chicagoland Remodeling is that they listened to what I, the customer wanted, and then followed through on it. I strongly recommend this company.

Wally stopped by to quote the job. He was easy to communicate with and willing to please. On the day of installation, his crew came out. When I asked a question, they did not seem happy to be bothered and were not easy to communicate with. When I made a comment about something Wally had said, they brushed it off. After the crew left, my husband and I noticed several problems with the work. We called Wally and he came out the next day. He agreed with the problems and had them corrected immediately. Wally was a pleasure to work with; his crew needs to learn better people skills from him. The new gutters have been in place for over a year without any problems.
Description of Work: Replace gutters on our house and garage.

Extremely staisfied. Replaced my shingles on the roof and matched my shingles to the point where they looked original. Replaced mushroom vents and they were better than the originals. Siding on rear of house was very well done, one of the best siding jobs that I've seen.
