Description of Work: The roof over the back porch and back room was damaged, most likely from raccoons, and water was leaking in. The wood and gutters were also deteriorated and in need of replacement. Chicagoland came out and gave an estimate for fixing the entire affected section. Everything was explained thoroughly and a written estimate was provided.

+ 22 moreFrom planning to payment the process is painless and professional! Wally, Izabella and the crews are very professional in the discussion before the project begins and throughout the process. They worked well with our architect and with our staff members. They listened to what we wanted and helped us understand what is possible and what isn't. They were very helpful in finding the best products and best prices. They were on time, worked diligently, and were very respectful of our property. They are thoroughly honest and dependable. They did what they said they would do and when they said they would do it. They were working on our church and school buildings and were very flexible about the schedules we have with our church and school activities. They were upfront if there were any problems and offered solutions. They were patient throughout the project that had to be done in stages because of our financial and schedule needs. We gave them the keys to the building and they expertly coordinated all the various workers that were part of our project. We have recommended them to other churches including one where they have created a new gorgeous kitchen where there was an office room and 50 year old bathroom. They take pride in their work and the results are indeed something to be proud of. As I go into the spaces they have created, it is amazing to see the transformation and the beautiful work that is visible.
Description of Work: Chicagoland Remodeling did substantial work at the church where I am the Business Manager. They demolished existing rooms and created a beautiful gathering space with handicapped accessible washrooms, tile floors, glass partition walls, drop ceiling with recessed lighting and decorative cutout design, new HVAC work, new plumbing, new electrical and all the details in between. Other projects they have done for the church include $35,000+ in roofing with a new contract in place for another $30,000 on another building. They have also done a lot of drywall/plaster work to repair damage from use and storms we had and also to repaint several rooms. They have done foundation and sewer repair at our school building. They redid an office room into a beautiful chapel. This is in addition to many smaller projects (flooring, roof repair, parking lot repair, cement work, gutters, tree removal, tuckpointing, awnings, windows, doors, carpentry, and more) we have needed done in our 5 buildings over the past 9 years.

+ 0 moreChicagoland Remolders, Inc (CRI) provided the lowest bid on both the chimney rebuild and replacing the stairs. Izabella and Wally were very responsive in answering my questions and in making changes I requested to CRI's proposal. The chimney from the roof line was in bad shape and needed more than just minor tuck pointing. CRI's workers removed the brick and rebuilt the chimney with a new limestone and metal caps. It matches perfectly to the rest of the chminey. Also, during the 2 heavy rain storms there were no leaks. Next, CRI removed my old crumbling concrete porch and stairs and replaced them with a new 6 bag fiber mix concrete set. They also removed the wrought iron railings and reset them in the new conrete when it had cured. CRI restored the bricks, dirt and mulch along both sides of the porch and stairs. They left the jobsite very clean. The stairs and porch look fantastic! A perfect job! My neighbors and friends have commented on how great the stairs look. I would definitely use this company again on future work.
Description of Work: Chicagoland Remolders, Inc (CRI) replaced the bricks in my chimney from the roof line, added a new limestone chimney cap plus a new metal chimney cap. CRI also replaced my conrete front porch and stairs.

I had questions on different occasions and he or one of his crew were quick to get back to me. they started the work within the timeframe they said and finished it within 2 weeks which I was pleased with. The crew manager was great and very helpful and responsive. The entire process was simple and they made it very easy. I would highly recommend them and I plan to use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I took several estimates for two jobs. One at my house and one at my rental building. Wally was great. He showed up on time and gave me a quick estimate. He wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive. I have had my share of bad experiences and I am happy to say Wally and his crew were great. I did a large siding job on all 4 sides of the building. In addition they capped about 20 windows and did a large concrete job for me at the same location. In addition they did a brick patio for me with additional tuckpointing and spotpointing around the house.

The teams that came from Chicagoland Remodeling were on time, efficient, cleaned up after themselves and were very respectful to my Dad and anyone else in our family that was at his home. We couldn't be happier with the way the work turned out - everything looks beautiful and was done with excellent workmanship. They went above and beyond to get my Dad's house back in shape - even re-hung his bookshelves, which thrilled him. When I noticed that the new floor was a little higher in the family room than the old floor in the utility room, Izabela sent someone out to install a threshold to even it out so my Dad wouldn't trip. Izabela was great to work with - she was very responsive and helped make the entire experience very easy. I highly recommend Chicagoland Remodeling. I would use them again in my own home - and in fact have hired them to repair a leak in my chimney.
Description of Work: My father's split level home flooded in the bad storms during July 2011. We had to have the entire lower level - family room, bathroom, utility room, storage room remediated. Following the remediation, we hired Chicagoland Remodeling to drywall, paint, install ceramic, put in new trim and window casings, 6 panel doors and hardware, install the bathroom vanity/sink/faucet and miscellaneous things like towel bars, etc.

There was a delay in getting the blinds installed due to scheduling issues but they offered a slight discount for our inconvenience. We are very happy with the work and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: After the heavy rains in summer, we discovered that our cedar shake roof was leaking. After initial estimates to repair we decided to replace the 30 year old roof. We initially decided to replace with a cedar roof and found it was very difficult to find roofers who could do the work. Chicagoland was one of the few companies that was willing to work with cedar shingles. They were also the most reasonable quote we received. However after careful consideration we decided to go with a higher quality asphalt shingle which had to be special ordered. We also asked for skylights with solar blinds installed. We had a delay in the process due to the special order shingles. Initially we decided to buy the skylights ourselves, but Wally offered to get us a better quality skylight for the same price we had been quoted by Home Depot using his trade contact. 4/19/2013 After the heavy rains yesterday we discovered a slight leak in our living room ceiling. I contacted Izabella and promptly they had someone come in and do an inspection and they fixed the problem right away. I appreciate their prompt service and pleasant customer service a lot.

The storm made several huge tree branches from a neighbors tree to come crashing down on top of our garage and the back of our house causing a lot of outside damage. One branch managed to break a roof board causing water to leak inside damaging my daughters ceiling and walls. I acquired 3 estimates. Chicagoland's proposal was the most competitive. Wally was the most professional and with the reputation here on Angie's List to back it up. Four separate crews came out. 1st crew, Roofing: Done in a day and a half. 2nd crew, Soffit & Fascia: Done in a day. 3rd crew, Drywall: Done in 3 days (teardown/reinstall, tape/mud, primed to paint) 4th crew, Gutters: Done in 2 hours. Each crew was polite and attentive to our requests. I am extremely satisfied with Chicagoland Remodeling. If i should need future work done, they will be the first company I will call.
Description of Work: Garage roof shingles replaced. Garage soffit, fascia, & wood replaced. Back of house shingles replaced. House gutters and downspouts replaced. 2 bedroom walls & ceiling drywall replaced. Same area primed to paint.

+ -1 moreI hired Chicagoland Remodeling Inc based on feedbacks from AL and I am very happy how they perform work in my house.They also saved me a lot of money. Wally was the only contractor who told me that there is no need to tear off my roof and if I will install layer over it will be enough. All other contractors told me that I need to tear off because my insurance paid for that. They wanted me to pay them all the money that I received from my insurance provider. I am very happy that i found a company and people so honest. Thank you so much Chicagoland Remodeling for all your help, mu roof looks beautiful and the shingles you updated for me to 30 yrs looks great, i fell like i have a new house. Once the insurance adjuster spoke with us and met with the roofer about the job and estimate, we waited for the response from them before moving forward. After we knew how much the insurance was going to cover, we gave the go ahead to begin the project. We signed over the first insurance check to Chicagoland and scheduled the roofing project based on the approval of the Village permits and weather. They started the job on a Wed and completed the job on that Friday. The second check came from the insurance and was signed over. We now are paying the balance and are very happy with our new roof. Thank you for a job well done and the extra time you took to answer all of our questions. We enjoyed working with you.
Description of Work: Over the last few years the Association and unit owners have used Chicagoland Remodeling Inc. for a few different projects. As an Association we just had the company replace our roof (tear off roof). Part of the roof was damaged and the company worked well with us and our insurance to meet our needs and assist us in replacing our entire roof. Since part of our roof was damaged, we went through our insurance to help pay for the replacement of those areas while we covered our deductible and the expense for the remaining sections of the roof. Before this project we had used Chicagoland Remodeling to replace our laundry room floors in the building and were satisfied with the work performed and material used for this project. This job was obviously much smaller than that roof project, but it went well and we were happy with the process and outcome of that project, so we felt good about hiring them for the big roof project. Izabela worked well with us and went above and beyond to explain the project, the cost and the options for the roof. She educated us on our situation and choices so we could make the best decision for our building. Since we are an Association, it was important for us to ask questions before giving the green light to start the roofing job. The insurance adjuster and Izabela kept us informed and we were prepared for the expense and pleased with the outcome. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to take on a roofing project. The roofing job was started and completed in three days and we never had to call and ask when they were going to show up to finish the job. They were there each day until it was done. When the job was done, the dumpster was hauled away and the property was left clean. Thank you!

They always kept me informed, delivered samples to my house and then picked up the signed contract. The guys who did the roofing were really kind and gentle with my landscaping (I have heard horror stories from others!) Description of Work: We had Chicagoland Remodeling give us an estimate on a tear-off roof replacement, and Wally came out and did an estimate. We had three other estimates and of all of them, Wally was the only one who actually climbed on my roof! Within a week, we had a written estimate and we had a date scheduled about a month out (which worked for both of us). The estimate was half of what one of the other estimates that was provided. As scheduled, Wally called the day before they were to start the job, and within three days, I had a beautiful new roof!!

+ 0 moreChicagoland's contractors were prompt and punctual and performed the repairs quickly and professionally. Probably not the cheapest option in town, but the quality was great and roofing repairs isn't really any area you want to cut corners on - all in all a great experience.
Description of Work: I had a leaking roof on my apartment that needed to be repaired. Chicagoland Remodeling came by promptly after scheduling an appointment and gave me a list of the repairs they felt I needed to undertake (some masonry work on the chimney as well as repairs of cracks and silver coating on the roof).

+ 0 moreOur overall experience with Chicagoland Remodeling was fantastic. The roofing job was done very efficiently and thoroughly, from the inspection/estimate down to the last bit of cleanup. Interacting with their office staff and work crew was easy. Their staff was courteous and professional, and the work crew was extremely conscientious and accommodating. For example, they were especially careful around our stucco walls and new landscaping. When they were finished, Chicagoland Remodeling suggested that we wait until after some expected storms before making a final payment, so that we were sure that the new roof and gutters were functioning to our complete satisfaction. We were very happy with the way the job went, and we're delighted with the appearance of our new roof. We are recommending Chicagoland Remodeling to our friends and will definitely keep them in mind for future projects.
Description of Work: The head of Chicagoland Remodeling showed up punctually for a free inspection and estimate and personally went up on the roof to examine and photograph our old and battered shingles. We accepted their comprehensive and very reasonable estimate after considering 2 other proposals. Chicagoland Remodeling did a tear-off of all layers of roofing down to the decking and applied an ice and water barrier, felt underlayment, architectural shingles, vent flashing, mushroom vents and chimney flashing. They were also attentive to details-- they installed additional metal flashing where needed, re-pitched gutters that were spilling over, and replaced the nails on the gutter hangers with screws to keep the gutters from pulling away from the roof edge.

+ -1 moreAfter contacting Chicagoland Remodeling about a new garage roof for a recently purchased home, they came back with an estimate of $1,545 which was right on target with a couple others we obtained. Unlike the others, however, theirs also included the installation of two mushroom vents (there were currently none). Based on this and the number of excellent reviews on Angie's List, going with Chicagoland Remodeling was a no-brainer... Before the job was started, we noticed water damage inside the garage resulting from the terrible condition of the roof (the cheap interior wall panels were crumbling and rotting). We pointed this out to them upon their arrival, and they offered to take care of it right then and there for an additional $700, which included completely replacing one entire interior wall with better-quality plywood, and half of another (this also entailed removing and re-installing the exterior vinyl siding as well)... We found Chicagoland Remodeling to offer quality work at an affordable price, and were very pleased with the overall results. They were easy to work with and left the site clean upon completion of the job. We definitely plan on consulting them again for future projects!

+ 3 moreI contacted them through Angie's list on 6/23 and Izabela responded the next day to schedule a site visit with Wally. I was happy they could come out the next Monday 6/28 and he arrived on time. I showed him all the projects and he took measurements. A few days went by without hearing from them, but this was due to the July 4th Holiday. There was some miscommunication with email and receiving the estimate and due to the time that elapsed we did put the projects on hold. They were timely in their appointment and out of the three handyman companies we met with, Wally seemed to provide the best course of action when we talked to him. When we decide to move forward, I will contact this company. They were very professional.

+ 3 moreWe had a leak in our 2nd bedroom that was coming from somewhere underneath our rooftop deck - unfortunately in order to find the source of the leak the deck had to be removed. Wally came around promptly and gave us a quote for removal of deck, finding and repairing the leak, placing a waterproof sealer on the flat roof and sealing the brickwork (it has not ever been sealed) and repairing the water damage to the 2nd bedroom (remove and replace drywall and prime and paint). I was happy with Wally's explanation - as I had a few roofers in to work out where the leak was from - in fact a few of the roofers said that I needed a new roof! In the end I felt like Wally know what he was talking about - in the end it turned out that some of the nails from our old deck had gone through the roof membrane and was the cause of the leak. Much happier to remove the deck than to get a new roof! (Also very disappointed in the other companies - sourced from Angies List with high ratings!) In regards to the work - we had it done in November 2010 - and waited out the winter and spring to confirm there was no further leak - which there has not been. They also trimmed some trees and repaired a leaking rooftile. The guys were clean and tidy , work on saturdays and i was happy with the work. In fact we used Chicagoland Remodeling to redo the deck last month (also reviewed) and some remodeling in the house. Overall recommend them.

+ 4 moreDespite the weather - the deck was finished in time for a get-together. We have used Chicago land remodeling before (see review) . I used them again to replace the deck that was removed in order to find a leak . A few unexpected items came up - which I kind of was expecting but had not realized they would be so costly. In addition to putting down the deck they also replaced the patio doors (they were expensive - but they are great!) and replaced some siding. The carpenters were great - tidy and (looks like) excellent work . Worked through the weather and on the weekend. Very happy with the look and the head carpenter explained everything - it made me feel confident in the quality of their work . Would recommend again.

Chicagoland fixed the major cause of the roof leak (chimney flashing) and came out a couple of more times to try to resolve the remaining leaks. We have decided to go ahead and replace the section of roof completely which wally suggested we may have to do at the start. We appreciate the honesty and explanations along the way including the multiple trips to my house they had to make. Izabela is easy to work with and helps communication go smoothly. thanks again.

Description of Work: Chicagoland Remodeling replaced gutters and downspouts, installed gutter system, repaired cracks in tuckpointing, repaired and painted plaster around glass block windows in the interior, painted one interior wall, and repaired kitchen sliding drawers.
