Short review: My experience with Chicagoland was great and would give them the highest recommendation. They replaced a rotten and leaky 100+ year old roof (main roof and smaller section above a porch), installed new soffit, fascia, and siding (over ugly asphalt siding), capped the doors and windows with aluminum, and replaced all the gutters. The work was excellent - done around some scheduling issues / obstacles with other work needed to get done. Wally, Izabela and everyone else were very patient with everything and so great to work with. Long review: I am a do-it-yourselfer and would prefer to do things myself, but a roof, siding is too big a project. I initially contacted Chicagoland early in the year, getting quotes for those big things. As the summer went on I knew I couldn't finish all I wanted to and asked Chicagoland to add a few more things to the quote and they did, without issue (and still without knowing they had secured the work). When I ended up signing the contract, I even added another small task for them and it was no problem and at a very reasonable additional cost. Wally, the owner, is great. I felt like he wanted the project to come out as nice as I did. (I received many quotes and interviewed many Angie's List contractors and felt so comfortable with Wally. And, Izabela, at the office, was always there to answer questions, help me with any scheduling issues, etc.) The quality of their work was great and the prices were very reasonable. The quotes were specific / detailed enough to know exactly what you were getting. I've already recommended them to friends and neighbors (many neighbors were also impressed at their work) and hope to have another project for them in the future.

Contacted them for an estimate to repair exterior wooden steps with landing, to replace 3 sets of windows, and to replace two exterior doors. They sent a person out within days of my call to look over the projects. After the inspection, he indicated that he needed to check on some prices and would get back to me. A week later I had heard nothing and started placing calls to try and get an estimate. I was told again that they needed to check on prices. I called several other times and left messages but never received an estimate. After several weeks I gave up and hired other contractors.

Chicagoland recently remodeled our new office space. They were on time and easy to work with. The workers were respectful and very hard working to get our project done in a short amount of time. Izabela is a joy to work with. Easy to reach and available to meet on site to answer questions or solve problems. The full project took about three weeks. During The middle we had an issues with the building that we rent from. Chicagoland was flexible and worked with us to make the best of it. Wally and his team still works with the old fashioned rule of integrity. It was refreshing to work with someone that I could trust. The project went so well we not use Chicagoland for work with our clients.

Wally came to take a look at the garage and discuss the work that needed to be done. We do not have a finished ceiling in the garage so it was easy to see the damage (time, leaks, etc.) from inside the garage. He was very thorough in reviewing the work that needed to be done and specific with the quote and estimate. Wally was very professional and made good recommendations about how best to approach the project. Izabela was helpful with follow-up questions, scheduling, etc. The workers that did the roofing, window and siding work were also very professional and very thorough with the repair and replacement work. Roofing projects are messy, but I have to say this was the neatest and most organized project I have ever seen. The garage was left in order at the end of each day and the work site was spotless at the end of the project. Wally came by a few days later to confirm that everything was completed according to plan and expectations. It really exceeded my expectations. I look out my window at the shiny silver roof everyday and it makes me very happy. I would be happy to work with Chicagoland Remodeling again and will definitely recommend them.

After attemping to get an estimate from 5 different roofers, Wally was 1 of the 2 who responded to our calls. He was promt and professional throughout the entire process. His workers were very courteous, hard working, and completed the roof in a day and a half, working 12 hours the first day and approx 5 hours the next. They were very neat and courteous. They did a great job on the ceiling repair also, which took about 2 half days. Izabella was very responsive to our emails and helpfull in scheduling the work for times that were convienent for us. The price we were quoted was exactly what we paid in the end, and included dumpster rental and building permit fees also, which was very convienent and a big time saver for us. We couldn't be happier with the quality of work, and will definitly call Chicagoland Remodeling for any work that we may need in the future!

Other carpenters had shied away from the carpentry side of this job, but Wally exuded confidence as he examined the doors. They gave me an estimate the next day, and planned when to take the barn doors to their shop. They securely boarded up when they removed the doors. Returned in a week with barn doors, and took the time to re-install them properly. Between the damaged wood below the torn-out latch, the delicate pocket hinges, and the flawed metal threshold, this job required skillful, patient carpentry. They did a great job at a fair price. Totally satisfied and would recommend.

First of all, the team is great. I called for an estimate for a complete tear off of the roof, new gutters/downspouts, new porch stairs, capping windows & door, and drwall repair. They have someone that responds to emails and phone messages in a timely manner - Izabela. I am an email person, so I liked this alot. Wally was very professional and showed up right on time. He reviewed the work to be done, made suggestions, and gave his opinion on what was necessary and what was optional. A written proposal was emailed to me for my review and editing. I edited it and sent it back. Izabela than scheduled the work. I didn't get much advance notice of when the work would start, but I was fine with this since I work from home. Plus I was generally very relaxed and didn't follow-up on start time, so I'm sure I could have gotten more notice if I had needed it. Wally showed up on the first day along with his crew. He made sure they knew what to do. They did a great job. There were different people who did gutters, roof, siding, porch, drywall, but each really was an expert at what they did. I was impressed with their craftmanship.u

This company is extraordinary!! I've had other people work in my house, and I could tell the work by this company is above and beyond exceptional. These guys worked well as a team, and are very good at what they do. Besides just the workers that came out being professional, the owner, Wally, came out to do the estimate, and Izabela got me the quote right away. She also answered all the questions and concerns I had in a professional manner. The communication was great between the owner, office manager, and team.

Insurance company had done exterior inspection and indicated concerns about the roof at my mother's house. I called several contractors and Chicagoland gave the best proposal. Wally talked over several options and gave me proposals for each option (he also suggested painting the enclosed all-season porch roof with reflective paint--Mom spends a great deal of time there and it really has made the room much, much more pleasant during this extremely hot summer so it was a great suggestion). Izabela was great to work with and was very helpful and responsive throughout the process. Workers were prompt and showed up when promised to work on the roof. The work was completed quickly and neatly. Exterior painting of stairs and supports was done a few days later when temperature and humidity allowed (Izabela had called me to let me know that the weather looked good for Saturday but, if it turned out that weather conditions did not allow the painting to be done--too hot or too humd--it would be rescheduled) and it looks great. I appreciated the concern about making sure the painting was done properly. Would definitely use this company again.

This company is wonderful to work with and does great work! Wally came out within a couple days of my initial inquiry. I was very impressed with him because he recommended everything I wanted before I said it. Usually I have to argue with contractors to get what I want. Izabela, the office manager, is quick to follow up with quotes and other items like license and insurance documentation. We were flexible working with her and she was able to schedule the work very quickly. We had company arriving Saturday and wanted the roof done on Friday, the day before. This crew really knew what they were doing. Only 3 men starting at 7AM and finishing around 2:30. They were very neat, professional, and friendly. Most roofing crews I have seen working in my neighborhood (and my last roofing experience) consist of a bunch of day laborers with one or two guys yelling at them. The cleanup crew arrived about an hour later and did a very detail job of cleaning up the debris the crew had neatly piled on one side of the house. There was no damage to anything and by 5:30 you couldn't tell they were there except for the nice looking new roof! From the time I made initial contact to the time I received my release of lien document was approximately two weeks. From the time I actually gave them the go-ahead, it was even shorter. I highly recommend this company and look forward to using them for remodeling work we are planning. (By the way, in addition to watching them do the work, I went on the roof after they left to inspect everything myself.)

Wally was quick to call back and come out for an appointment but took a little while to send us any further info or pricing. I must admit it was difficult to communicate with his broken Polish accent. Didn't seem to understand what we wanted. But his price was cheaper for the labor.

They had an excellent bid however someone came in with a lower price so we used the other company. He was the lowest bid up until that time though. Generally they were great.

Wally came out on 5/31, arrived on time, and we walked through everything I wanted done. Wally said he would email me a quote for the project, but by 6/7 I hadn't received the quote. I left two messages asking for someone to call me. It took several more days but I finally did hear from Izabella who told me that Wally had been called out of town on an emergency and she was behind in the quotes and returning calls. She was very apologetic and did finally send the quote, which I am now reviewing. Update December 2012: I have a couple of items of my punch list yet to be finished, but the guys did a very good job. I'm happy with the quality of the work and when I wasn't happy with something, they addressed it. They were accomodating to my needs and budget and had to be creative at times and they met the challenge. The one person I was not pleased with was the electrician they contracted with and they have indicated they don't plan to use him again. One of the reasons I hired Chicagoland Remodeling was that a previous customer stated that every time a change was made a work order was issued so the customer would know what the cost would be. At the end of the job I received a bill with additional charges--some I was prepared for and some were a substantial surprise--but I had not received work orders/advance notification of all the charges. Because everyone is native Polish I occasionally felt that I was trying to express got lost in translation, even though they all spoke English. Maybe having them tell it back to me would have helped. I would not hesitate to hire them or refer them to others.

Very well. It took a few weeks to schedule the work but I don't hold it against a contractor for being busy. Wally came out to the house and generated an estimate for the work. His price was in line with what I expected from such a large job. Once work began, the job took around 10 working days. Each day the workers showed up on time and were courteous. They kept the jobsite clean along with the rest of my house. I was kept informed of what they were doing and what progress was being made every step of the way. I've attached pictures because it's difficult to describe just how wonderful a job they did. This is the second time we've hired Chicagoland for a large project and the second time we've had a positive experience. We'll continue hiring them for our projects around the house.

I had had another company come out for an estimate on replacement of gutters, soffit and fascia, and removal of siding of 2 peaks on the front of the house. I also had some rotted wood that needed to be replaced, and they quoted me a price that would have been so much per foot after the first 12 feet or whatever. They were thorough and nice, but the price they quoted was extremely high.I found Chicagoland Remodeling on Angies List, and called tor an estimate. From the first call back from Izabela, I have been very happy. Wally came out to take measurements, listened to what I wanted, offered some suggestions about a different color choice that I never would of thought of on my own. He said to think about it, that a different color would cost no more and that he would have Izabela send the estimate on email. When I received it, the next day, I was shocked that it was almost half the price of the first company. I called and accepted. Wally came back out a day later, and we went over the color choice, and I did go with the color other than white, and he said he hoped to get it done for me the following week "So it would be done before the Summer." He also mentioned that his workers would fix a problem I had at my front door, where the wind had pulled the bottom screws out of the wood on my storm door. I thought that was nice of him.Well, they came out last Friday, two men began to remove all of the old gutters, soffit, facia, peaks, etc. Midway through, another 2 trucks pulled up and it seemed like 8 men were putting up the gutters. They started at 10 AM and were all finished by 6P that night. I've never experienced a job so professionaly done. I look like I have a brand new home. The color choice Wally suggested really makes the brick of my house look so much better. As hot out and as long as they had worked, the first 2 men were finishing up and sweeping the porch and stairs, picking up nails from the driveway and lawn, and there was not ONE thing left laying anywhere. I would so highly recommend them to anyone...and if I need anything else done around here, they will be my first call. I forgot to mention to the men that they were going to fix that problem at the front door, and when I realized, I was just too happy with the other results that I didn't want to even bring it up. I don't think you an go wrong with this company!

Had three estimates, Chicagoland Remodeling provided the best estimate. Wally came out to do the estimate and pointed out the large eaves on the house would need a larger ice barrier and more attic vents should be installed. The other estimates did not include the larger ice barrier or vents, yet the other estimates were higher. Wally is knowledgeable and I felt he was helping to insure the job was done properly and would last. Izabela is the office manager and did a wonderful job coordinating the work (ordering roofing materials/permit etc) and keeping me informed from start to finish. She came to the house to show me samples of materials as well as explain the advantages/disadvantages of the various materials and warranties. With Izabela's help expertise we picked out the shingles to be used and are extremely happy with them. I work unusual hours, Izabela and Wally accommodated my request for a specific day to accomplish the job so it would not interrupt my work. The day after the job was completed, Izabela came to the house to insure the job was done to my satisfaction, which it was. The crew arrived on time and immediately started the job. They put tarps around the entire house to protect the shrubs as well as preventing materials being left behind. The crew were all courteous and hard working, the job was completed, as promised, in one day. When they left, all materials had been removed and the yard was as clean as when they arrived. Best of all we had a beautiful new roof. An excellent job! While the roofing crew was working the electrician arrived to install the bathroom exhaust fan. Due to the age of the house, he experienced some difficulties getting power to the fan. He was knowledgeable and quickly found the best way to route power and completed the installation. The electrician was also courteous and removed all materials from the bathroom after completing the installation. Another excellent job. I had a new range hood which I was going to install myself, while the electrian was here, Wally had the range hood installed for me at no extra charge. Chicagoland Remodeling is the best. Quality work as well as excellent customer care. Great job! Thanks Wally, Izabela and crew.

Overall, a terrific experience that went better than I could have ever hoped for. We interviewed three companies and selected Chicagoland Remodeling Inc based on price, interaction, review and communication. We met with Wally Szymanski to go over our initial ideas and to get a quote. Wally was very easy to talk to and understood what our goals were. But, he was also very honest when it came to assessing our project and what he felt was a good idea and what wasn't. We did not avoid additional charges, but all were based on our selections and changes we made during entire project. What I like the most was that every change has separate Work Order which was prepared by Izabela. They could have easily steered us toward a much bigger and more expensive renovation. Wally had also mentioned, in our first conversation, that if there were any other small projects that we had been considering doing (as everyone does), that he could quote them and keep the price down since they would already be there doing work. So, of course, we did. The quote that I received was very reasonable and in line with or cheaper than the other two companies. We then met with Wally again, just before the project start, to finalize the contract and go over my list of questions. He brought Jack, the lead carpenter for the project, to look everything over and answer any technical questions that we had. The project started on the agreed date. Jack, Damian and Paul were the three carpenters for the project. They had said that they would be there at 8am and work until 4pm/5pm, depending on the day's schedule. They showed up between 7:45am and 7:55am EVERY day, worked until 4:40pm to 5pm EVERY day, SIX days a week, until the project was finished. The original timeline was 4 to 6 weeks for the kitchen, bathroom and other jobs but, as with any renovation, complications pushed the entire project to 8 weeks in total. This included the side projects that we had added. When problems/complications arose, Wally, Izabela and Jack were all very helpful and creative about finding a solution. Nothing was ever done without our prior approval, everything was explained clearly before being executed and all of our concerns were taken very seriously. If there were things that we wanted done a specific way, every attempt was made to satisfy us when at all possible. Of course we had to compromise on one or two things, but not for lack of Chicagoland?s effort. All exterior work was done by professional worker, Chicagoland have crew for every single trade different for siding, roofing and interior renovation. All workers and Management were professional, respectful, engaging, personable, knowledgeable, diligent and highly skilled. My wife and I are very particular when it comes to design and execution. We tend to look everything over very critically on a project like this. The level of craftsmanship that was brought to this renovation was outstanding. I must mention the one problem that we had during the renovation. It is not insignificant and did cause some distress. Wally recommends installing ridge vent on our roof to avoid mold growing, however we decided to install mushroom vents- it was a mistake we should listen to Wally?s suggestions. After our roof was complete we hire an insulation company and they said exactly the same about ventilation, however Wally was so nice and send worker over to correct it. In a nutshell, we could not be happier with our experience with and results from Chicagoland. I would not hesitate to hire them again and, in fact, have already approached them about doing another project.

We got an insurance claim for hail damage and picked Chicagoland from Angies List with Wally and Izabela being very responsive and helpful.They replaced our siding, roof, gutters and window caps as well as did carpentry to fix our sagging garage roof and replaced the roof there as well. A different company we had do a bid for us told us we'd need to hire a carpenter to fix the garage roof inside. That put them right out of the running as if a company is looking at a 24K job and can't put together a carpenter or 2, then I don't want to deal with them as the whole process can be stressful enough. Chicagoland has the complete talent pool to get whatever needs to be done, done. Now this is the kicker. It's now 3 months since Chicagoland did their work here which was great, but there were a couple of small things that weren't quite right that needed adjustment or fixing. I emailed Izabela the photographs of the 3 issues and within 3-4 days 3 guys came by and fixed the problems in 15 minutes. Now THAT is a good company! As anyone who has hired a contractor, electrician plumber etc can tell you, getting them to come back to complete or fix an issue with the work is a real battle. Not with these guys. I have already referred 3 people to Chicagoland and will continue to do so.

We called after the first of the year and requested an estimate. We decided in March to hire them and requested a date in April. They put us on the schedule for April. Once the weather cooperated they came when they told us they would and did a great job from beginning to end. The residents of our condominium building moved their cars from the parking lot to allow them enough work space and prevent any damage to the cars. The crew worked well together and finished the job as promised. They used good material, good labor, charged a fair price and completed the job. We are happy to recommend them and will continue to use them for future jobs.

This company was the best company to hire, From day one that I hired them .everything was done as stated in my contract. they worked hard to complete the job they did not stall.everything was done in a timley matter . They did excellant work and would recommend them to everyone All there workers asked me if I was satisfied with there work what I like best about this company was the fact that they had different crews that worked on the roof gutters and soffit ..so there crews were specialist in there field of work also after each job that was done asked me to come out and inspected. for any concerns I have.. I would recommend this company to everyone that needs work done. I am now going to hire them to replace my windows

This was the second time in the past year that we've used Chicagoland Remodeling, and once again we were very pleased with the results and the cost. They showed up on time to complete the job and finished everything in one day. The gutter that they replaced was too small so they suggested a larger 7" galvanized replacement, which not only looks aesthetically more pleasing but does a better job of draining water from the roof during heavy downpours. We also have more peace of mind knowing that the roof has been sealed and repainted, and were told that the current roof should be good for about another 5 years, which is right in line with what a home inspector told us last year when we were purchasing our two-flat. At my request, they even gave us an estimate on a new roof today and how much we should expect to add to that estimate in 5 years--when that time comes, you can bet that we'll be using Chicagoland Remodeling again!

Wally and his crew were great to work with. Izabela (office manager) was responsive and easy to work with to get the job scheduled. This review is inclusive of work that was done on two separate occassions on my condo, and they took great care to do high-quality work and leave the place in better shape than how they found it. I've just moved into a new home in the suburbs and will be enlisting Wally's services in the future.
