Terminix - Elmhurst -Termite & Pest Control

I have used this Terminix office for several years and continued out of inertia as their service has gotten worse and worse. They have now twice in the last few months scheduled service with me during the day and were a no-show. They did not answer the phone or return messages when I called to inquire and reschedule. Their only explanation was that the technician was sick. I informed them that I took time off work to meet them there. I even received voice mails the day before confirming the service appointments. Later, while I was on hold each of the 6 or so times that I called to try to get resolution, a cheery voice explains that they have a money back guarantee and they promise to send a technician within 24 hours at the customer's convenience who will arrive promptly. When I finally got thru to somone (Tracy) and asked about the guarantee, she said it only applies when they are not fully booked. Their service is so appallingly bad and no one at the local office or the 800 number returns phone calls. But, when a bill is due (not even overdue) they have an automated call come thru day after day after day.

I started using their services a couple of years ago, since I had some problems with ants. So, they come out twice a year to spray for ants. They are good and they show up on time. The price that they charge is good, as they were the first ones who I called to get rid of the ants.

They always call ahead of time and let me know when they want to come. I can be billed however I want to either annually, quarterly or by check or any other way I want to. We don?t have any pest issues except for some ant problems. It is always the same person who comes over and I know him well. They are very good at rescheduling or altering their schedule as per my convenience. They don?t use any pet unfriendly chemicals. They are easy to contact and very user friendly.

They were fine and we would use them again if need be.

I don't think their products are as good. They only came quarterly and not monthly. They offered a spray for bugs and it actually worked after using it for some time. When I called, no one knew what I was talking about. I even called other Terminex and they still didn't know what I was talking about. I think it showed a lack of professionalism and I'm not happy with the fact that no one knew what I was talking about. I will not use this company again in the future.

I have had a very good experience working with Terminix. They do a good job when they come out to my home. The price for their work is good.

The appointment was from 7-9 am and he arrived just before 9am. He was courteous and professional. I told him that one of the main reasons we called is because we saw bees inside our home. He looked in the attic for entry points and couldn't find any. The entire job was done quickly and completely in about 30 minutes.

We use Terminex for ongoing bug prevention. We've been using them quarterly for 2 years and never have bugs in the house. Sometimes they do not call before coming out.

They are always late and they show up when I'm not at home. They are supposed to let you know ahead of time when they are coming and they don't. I've missed them a bunch of times and they've only done the outside of the house. They didn't do the inside. When you are paying all of that money, you expect them to come in every time. I'm disappointed because the communication is really bad.

They have great ideas, but they are not that great at their follow through, and I've spent more time trying to get them to follow through then anything else.

The man who sprays for us is very professional and seems to do a good job. They spray to prevent carpenter ants from coming into the house and have been diligent in trying to stop this problem.

We are on a quarterly service with this company. I want others to know that my specific representative is, aside from being the nicest man, very courteous, very thorough, very prompt, and is always asking if everything is good. They are very service focused.

They were responsive, polite, and explained everything well. They will come out three more times over the next 12 months and repeat the procedure. If there are any problems between the scheduled visits, they will come and fix them for free. Overall a good deal.

I have been using their services for about two years now. It has helped a lot. The first time they came I had them spray inside and outside and now they only spray around the outside and we have had a lot less insect activity since using them.

One of the workers even came into my newly remodeled, newly painted house after working in my crawlspace with spider dust poison on his boots. I have cats and he wanted to work inside my house. He also made a mess by my washer and dryer and was very rude. I made at least 10 to 15 calls to reach Darren Thurston, the manager, who never returned my calls. I then contacted the corporate office and couldn't speak to anyone of authority. Finally, after 4 months I got my money back and was able to cancel my service agreement. I was also supposed to get a letter of apology and a gift certificate, but I never received this; even after about five or six calls to Darren at that office.

Terminix is the only pest control company I could find that guarantees you $1 million if you ever find a termite on your property after they've been here. They come every month spring through the fall. I pay them an annual fee. It's like an insurance policy for termites. I think they should come inside the house and check, but maybe they would if I asked them to.

I was pretty happy with the results. We occasionally get one, but we have been very satisfied with their service. They were very professional and very prompt. We have a service contract with them and think their prices are very fair.

We had a big termite problem a few years back and they treated for it. The price listed is for the annual maintenance. They come out once a year and if anything pops up between visits, they get rid of them for no extra charge. They had put a liquid down about 3 years ago around the perimeter of the house and should last a total of 7 years. They do a good job monitoring.

I have been using this company for ten years. If there is a problem, then they come out to my house the same day that I call them. I really like that. I did not shop around, but I think they may be a bit pricey.

They first quoted $225 for a one time job. Then, they tried to sell us a "cheaper" plan of $190 per visit to come out four times a year. I found better pricing with local exterminator (Barrington Exterminating Co.) that called me back within 24 hours of sending them an email, and they provided service the same day for only $125.

The centipedes did go away until recently. They have stopped bringing the tank inside, last time he just brought a single aerosol can, our house is 3,800 square feet, not including a basement. They do not always call first, which means they can only treat 1/2 of the outside. When they do call, they call the day before, which is very difficult. I found a centipede on the top floor recently, three floors from the basement.

Dan originally came out, he did a great job by applying a fogger at the end of a long pole. However, the yellow jackets still remained, but they guaranteed to come back as many times as necessary within 30 days. Dan came out again a couple weeks later. Someone called the house to follow-up. While it improved greatly, there were still yellow jackets. They were behind the siding and above our door, so Terminix did a great job, they were just hard to get to. Another gentleman came out and added dust to several possible areas they could be hiding but it was cold so it could not be identified where they were coming from.

We went in knowing that there had been termite damage in the past. The questions was whether or not there was current activity. The inspector informed us that there was no sign of activity. That night, after the Terminix inspector had left, I pulled back a little drywall and discovered a swarm of termites. Further checking revealed a significant infestation. We will be using a different company to handle the treatment.

Felix did a very thorough job. He was informative, polite, and friendly. He called to see if he could schedule earlier in the day, since he had an opening. Altogether, we were very satisfied with the job.
